S. W.Wow. We stumbled on this place and are so glad we did. Terrific ambiance, sincere staff, and exemplary meals. One of us had the hake dinner, one the vegan lentil cakes. Both were divine! We were satisfied but succumbed to the dessert menu regardless. ☺️ The vegan chocolate cake was a real treat. The room was so cozy and pretty with tasteful holiday lights that we could have sat there for hours.

B. L.Was here for lunch, very impressed. Food was delicious. I had the bacon sandwich which was so so tasty, so big I had to bring half home! It was a meal in itself! My son had the chicken and he really enjoyed it. The cafe was very well managed, checked Covid certs, tables well spread out, plenty of sanitizer so we felt very comfortable. Will definitely be visiting again soon. Would well recommend visiting here.
C. T.Lovely food with a great choice of different cuisines and all reasonable priced. The castle provides a fantastic setting, especially on a nice Summers day or evening. All the staff were very friendly and accommodating. The Caramel Brownie with Ice-Cream was particularly good, and definitely worth the trip alone.

The food came fast, and it was delicious.
The premises were immaculate, and the bathroom was getting cleaned every 30 minutes.
Parking is limited outside the restaurant; however, there is a public parking lot outside the castle. I hight recommend going here, and I would suggest making reservations.
N. M.Nice setting and we enjoyed the experience but the brunch dishes didn't really work for us. The eggs were very much over cooked and dry, and the dish didn't really come together. Most of the individual items were okay but overall quite boring combinations. We also had scones and these left a bitter after taste. After this experience we are unlikely to return unless something obvious changes in their kitchen. I must say the staff are very friendly and welcoming though and with an improvement in the kitchen I could easily change this to 5 stars.

S. G.Visited for lunch with a group of nine. Bread with dips as a starter which was okay, but I don't need to have it again. Next fish'n'chips. The fish was a bit tasteless, but the chips were good and the tartar sauce exceptional. My dessert was a cake based on apple, cinnamon and hazelnut, served warm, amazing! The service was overall pretty quick and our waiter a quite funny guy. Overall one of the better experiences in Cork.

S. O.Had a lovely breakfast/brunch at Blackrock Castle cafe last Sunday. I was a lone diner with my dog and they had lots of outdoor tables some with umbrella cover in case of showers and a wondeful hot water hotel service to keep diners warm - much appreciated! The service was quick and hospitable and my dish a lovely avocado toast with poached eggs and hollandaise sauce and a cup of Barry's tea on the side. Couldn't ask for much more on a Sunday morning, will be back again asap! :)

I had been meaning to visit this cafe over the past few months but due to the current pandemic my plans were altered on numerous occasions but I finally visited this cafe and availed of their take away option. The food I got here was excellent. I wish to return in the coming months when a sit down option become available as the area itself is beautiful as well as both exterior/interior of the cafe being well maintained and decorated, but for now I will continue to utilize the take away option. As seen in many of the other reviews of this cafe the staff were infact very friendly. I will be returning here and looking forward to sampling other treats on the menu. Cheers from another happy customer.

Whether it be a simple cup of coffee or a lovely bite to eat the Castle Cafe has it to offer. I love to cycle out sometimes from City to Monkstown and stop of for coffee myself to rejuvenate the body. Well worth a visit.

So, you choose a table number, then you queue, give your order, pay and it's brought to the table, love that. Staff very nice, but one star lost as we had to go looking for one ordered item that was delayed. (soft drink). Coffees were gorgeous and the choc/toffee cake and bakewell cake were delicious.
Covid-19 comment: Social distancing is easy at this cafe, staff suitably protected and sanitiser available at the pay counter.

Had our wedding reception at the Castle forty three years ago and it still doesn't fail to impress.

Great views out onto castle courtyard and ideal for photos and a walk afterwards. Comes recommended for an out of city centre restaurant experience. Thoroughly enjoyed our meal of roast chicken , followed by sticky toffee /brownie and coffees. With one glass of wine, and gratuity, our bill was €67 for 2. Service was unobtrusive and pleasant. Lovely food in a pretty setting with parking nearby.

Kinda hit and miss when it comes to the experience. Breakfast/brunch wise: Food prep quality is not top priority, pushing dishes out fast is. A lot of stuff is cooked in big batches and just re-heated when you order (you can see them doing it early on), and this shows.

A. M.It was a bit challenging to find a breakfast place in Cork on a Sunday. It just so happens that there was also a marathon on that day so loads of roads were closed. We thought we would go outside the city to get breakfast.....little did we know the marathon route went all the way out to Blackrock area too. We abandoned our car and walked ~15mins to the Castle Cafe at the end.
This cafe is a very pleasant find I have to say! Staff were friendly. Service was good. We ordered from the brunch menu. I had veggie bean and sweet potato bake, tomatoes, smoked Gubbeen, spiced chickpeas, poached egg and toasted sourdough. I wish there was a bit more sweet potato in my pot and the sourdough was slightly overdone....but it was delicious!!! So good I forgot to snap a picture before I dived in. My husband had the porridge (nice portion, very creamy...yum!) + some bacon/scrambled eggs...he made up his own dish.
Their scones and sweets look really inviting as well. Didn’t get a chance to try this time. Maybe when I go back to Cork next time!
T. M.On a cold rainy day, I along with my wife dropped in for coffee and a dessert. The ambience of the cafe was very nice and the staff was very hospitable. We enjoyed our time there, took some pictures. Cafe has reasonable seating capacity in the observatory which is quite small itself. But located in quite and calm space.

C. C.I usually walk across from Rochestown along the seafront. its a very popular walk and I enjoy it whatever the season. I love looking at the castle as I walk the 4 k (approx.). When I arrive, if its fine, I sit outside and otherwise I like inside. I enjoy it there for a coffee or lunch and its got that Cork focus on locally produced, quality food. Often the test of the culture of a business is how they deal with anomalies. I had some issues with a credit card transaction that could have been awkward. I found the staff excellent and helpful in assisting me and that is the added value I look for when recommending a place.

The location is fantastic, and if you are visiting cork, you really should make time to go. The food is very good and- although a bit pricy- a great value considering similar quality options. Service is always great, which really sets it a cut above the vast majority of Cork.
