Really nice spot, very cozy and great service. An authentic Italian experience, with concentration on quality not quantity, which is perfect for carb heavy food. Great selection of dishes (not just pasta or pizza) and wines. Good value also, with 1 starter, 2 mains, 1 dessert, 3 glasses of wine and a tea coming to 80 euro.

I've been to Al Vesuvio multiple times and the food is always amazing. This time was no exception. We got Bruscetta to start- lovely fresh tomatoes. I got the pasta with mushroom sauce and added chicken. The sauce is gorgeous- full of woody mushroom flavours. My husband got bolognese. I was so jealous of his choice, the ragu was phenomenal. Such depth of flavour. We shared a tiramisu for dessert. Would definitely recommend this restaurant.

The place is very well structured and done, staff is friendly and the menù is rich. I can't say it embodies the Italian cousine completely since pasta is a bit overcooked and less tasty than the authentic one but it's ok. Ingredients are good, just the way it's cooked is not ideal. I would come back for some pizza next time :)

It was the best outside experience I had so far. The food is absolutely gorgeous! I always chance the gnocchi in every single restaurant I go, and this one is.spot on and actually(truly) FRESH The staff are wonderful, specially the waitress girl (sorry I don't know.her name)whom keep making sure that you are feeling welcome . Tucked away on the busy Temple Bar area in a cozy basement with incredibly delicious and authentic Italian food! The calamari was fresh and not over fried; the caprese salad was light and delicious, the house made pasta and pizza was so fresh and tasty with just the right amount of spice, and there's also a great wine selection! The wait for food was a bit long so I wouldn't come here if you're in a hurry. Enjoy the beautiful brick interior, sip leisurely on some wine, and order all the Italian eats you can!! I would absolutely go back to try more of the large, fabulous menu.

If you are looking for an authentic Italian experience in Dublin, this is the place. The food is DELICIOUS and Italian songs create a lovely atmosphere. The waiters are either too friendly or too serious. Overall experience was very good, once you step in the restaurant you have the feeling to be in Italy.

Feels quite cosy as the place is built in stone and is a bit lower than the ground level. All staff Italian and super friendly. This is a little hidden away Italian gem right in the heart of Dublin City Centre. Myself and wife found this spot on Google Maps as we were going to an event nearby in the Olympia Theatre. Boy are we glad we found it. Totally traditional Italian with a fabulous menu selection and very reasonable also. The staff were so welcoming, extremely professional and attentive. So if it is amazing traditional Italian you are looking for do not hesitate to dine here you will not be disappointed. Excellent menu. However I think they may have to adjust the allergy information, unless their pizzas really are made with sesame oil! This oversight limited my choice somewhat as I do unfortunately suffer from the above allergy. However what I did order was very tasty and the service was great. Only losing a star for the overzealous allergen count. If I could deduct half I would for the “piped in” music, not really necessary in an otherwise comfortable setting I believe.

I thought the place looked charming. The pasta sauce was not so great. But the dessert was my biggest issue. We waited a long time for a creme brûlée that was like scrambled eggs - not silky and smooth. We did not complain and probably should have. But when you are tired and hungry.... I wish we had tried the pizza as it looked very good.

I give it 3 stars because the pizzas looked good and the service was average too. As for the food we had, it was an absolute rip off. For starter we had king prawns, they brought us 4 small frozen ones drowned in a pool of tomato sauce. The veal might as well been pork since the slice was too thin and all the sauce made it impossible to taste it. The location and the setting are great, everything is else is quite poor.

I liked the dough and the taste but I found cirillo’s and manifesto much nicer with real Italian ingredients for the same price. There is lot of choice on the menu, you can find wherever you are up to. Definitely book during weekends.

Typical Italian restaurant in an old wine cellar. The atmosphere is really authentic Italian and the menu reflects that as well. A nice selection of typical Italian dishes and wines. The risotto I had was nice, but not very special. Service was OK, but could be better. Will definitely come back though, and try some of the great smelling other dishes.

Have been going to this restaurant for nearly 20 years, before when it was Il Baccaro the best pasta restaurant in Dublin and more recently Al Vesuvio where the food is great but the service is better. Hard to find under an arch half way down Eustace Street but it is genuinely a hidden treasure worth seeking out.

Recommended originally by some Italian colleagues at work and have been here numerous times since. Great fresh dishes and friendly staff. It is a busy location so don't expect to be waited on hand and foot. Often books up quick but you can chance your luck and see if they have a table by walking up before it gets too busy.

Located in the heart of temple bar. The restaurant/pizzeria is not so big but sometime is extremely busy you can stay outside in the queue for even 45 mins waiting for a table. There is not space between the tables. The food is good but not very good. Pizza? It is ok. I was expecting something more delicious but probably the fact the the restaurant is always busy they don't press too much attention to cook the pizza well. Price? A bit expensive compering the quality. Drinks? Expensive. It is ok one off to go. Lightly recommended that is why I give 3 *

Excellent Italian restaurant, appreciated the fact that they had grappa on the digestive menu. The only possible gripe I could have was that the table was a little high to sit at and a bit too wide; keeping me at a distance from the lady I was eating with. This coupled with it being a bit noisy (as it was quite full) made it difficult to hear sometimes. That being said, the waiters were attentive and knew when to leave us alone and it wasn't something that detracted hugely from the experience. Would recommend.
