A regular here. Food is always prepared from fresh ingredients and it's always so lovely. The staff is also very professional and attentive. 5/5!
R. T.
Right from food, service to ambience, loved this place. I had the venison for mains and scallops to start, absolutely amazing! The service and staff were very friendly, informative and kind. We were seated outdoors and the place had been kept warm and blankets provided. Will definitely visit again. Thanks

Lovely outdoor seating area for those not comfortable with indoor dining. Good spacing with indoor seating. Excellent service.

Staff professional, helpful and attentive. Food delicious, loved their creme brulee

Lovely food and atmosphere our waitress Anna was very attentive.
Vegan and dietary options are also impressive

Outstanding meal by accident when we couldn’t get into the restaurant we originally planned. We were pleasantly surprised how amazing the appetizers & main course selections were — artfully presented & very tasty. Quality over quality. Left room for enjoying dessert. Great Rose wines here & cocktails. Excellent waiter Davide from Bologna was very attentive & friendly as was all the staff. Will definitely return again!

Food is awesome and the coffee is delicious.
I would like to see more variety on cocktails, most are gin based.
The service is good, but not excellent, at times the staff took too long to clear the table but was very fast to offer to consume more, prices are above average, so be prepared to pay for quality food.

Absolutely amazing experience every time. The mussels were the best I ever had, just maybe some more sourdough next time.

Gorgeous food and cocktails in a beautiful setting. The staff here are so accommodating and just couldn't do enough for us. Great central location, we will definitely be back.

I honestly couldn’t recommend Balfes enough. I had originally booked for afternoon tea but with regulations one of the party wasn’t vaccinated so it wouldn’t work, Mary booked us in at the outdoor dining space at Balfes. BEST FOOD EVER. Service is amazing. Food was exquisite. Location is fabulous. We felt very safe and all tables are all spread out. The team there were so good and brought out my sister who was celebrating her 30th a little chocolate saying “happy birthday” which was a lovely surprise for her.
I work in hospitality restaurant sector too and honestly I was so amazed at how attentive everyone was, so helpful but yet you could see everyone working and communicating as a team.
I’ll definitely be back.

Lovely spot attached to the 5 star Westbury Hotel. You'll walk by the statue of Phil Lynott on the way.

Food was lovely, had a gorgeous wrap. We had a lovely waitress by the name of Anna looking after us. They kept the sparkling water coming!
T. H.
Hayley, Amber and Kadri made our brunch experience superb. We arrived without a booking on a Sunday and the girls excitedly ushered us in, even moving things around so our baby who was asleep could nap peacefully. The girls put on the patio heater so we were all cozy. Service was speedy, warm and attentive, just what parents want when they are eating with limited time. The food is always a 10 at Balfes. We will be returning again and again. Hayley, Amber and Kadri are gems! Thank you for the lovely visit!

Brunch here is always good. Even though they changed the menu, I'm happy they kept the BodyByrne pancake, it's one of the best in town. I need to say thank you for changing the topping from the other pancake coz that's the way I used to eat before, the oat pancake with blueberry and bacon. It's not on the menu anymore but thank you for doing it. It's the best one and I highly recommend. My husband got a ham omelette he loved it, recommend that as well. You won't regret getting your brunch here.

Sets a standard that others in the area could aspire to. Excellent service and a quality interior. Wine a bit expensive but a great list. Beautiful good and in my opinion the best Burratta in Dublin.
G. S.
Great atmosphere.
We had gin tonic cocktails at the bar, until our table was ready, the hostess was kind.
The meat was served exactly as we asked for, the fish, which was a special dish, is highly recommended.
To sum up, the food was superb, kind service, great drinks. We would definitely visit again.
S. M.
one of the best spots for outdoor drinks in dublin with lovely ambiance and amazing staff!!! (vegan/veg food could be improved, and food quite expensive, but cocktails are 💯)
S. S.
Awesome, yet a bit posh restaurant. Not as expensive as I expected but the food was great. The names for the courses are a bit posh as well, but essentially you're getting just regular dishes you would anywhere, only better (healthier, tastier, etc).
Note that we only had breakfast / brunch there and not dinner.
j. c.
amazing meal. would recommend. our waitress anna was lovely.
E. L.
My sister and I ate dinner at Balfes on a Friday evening when every place was packed solid with long wait times. We were able to get a table after a short time upstairs in a quieter environment. We were a little disappointed to find they were out of all steak, so instead I had the fish and chips and my sister had the beef burger. The food was decent but nothing terribly special or noteworthy.
C. E.
Its a clean place,we had our breakfast here and it was delicious, I recommend, we stayed at the terrace but it was nice and silent the view of the street was beautiful as its near the shops and hotel😍
g. a. r.
Overrated & pricey. Paying for location. Ordered Halloumi which was basically the cheese plus a bowl full of tomatoes. Bailey over the road much nicer.
K. O. C.
Such a delicious lunch at Balfes we shared lots of starters and they were all delish. Great atmosphere and service too!
J. C.
Good food..outrageous prices for the experience...overall fine for a one off. Appreciate lack of properly trained chefs in city is a struggle for restaurants
J. M.
Food was very fresh and used very high quality ingredients, but I honestly just found everything to be a bit under seasoned. The avacado was just avacado - I couldn't taste any lime or salt or the like. My husband said his fries and omlette were the same way. Also, even though it was a nice presentation, my egg and avacado toast were sort of difficult to eat the way I wanted to. With one big lump of avacado and the poached eggs self contained, I just wound up getting big bites of one thing or the other. Considering all those things and the fact our meals were on the pricier side, that's why I only put three stars.
J. K.
Their brunch menu looks really solid and appetising. I opted for the turkey burger was a pleasant option. I'd return for their other "healthy" offerings. The interior was lovely and the staff were attentive & the service was swift. Downside was the prices. Two brunch meals & two coffees cost close to €50. Not near the best of Dublin brunch choices but worth at least one try.
T. M.
We had an amazing evening, from front of house and our waiters Anna and Giovanni!Amazing staff amazing food highly recommended!!
G. B.
Wasn't actually in Balfes: was upstairs for afternoon tea in the Gallery, Westbury Hotel: a most enjoyable and relaxing experience (and we got a brilliant window seat!)
E. M.
We were in for lunch yesterday, lovely atmosphere and the food was delicious. Generous portion sizes and great selection for all diets.
C. S.
This place is nice 😊 I had breakfast there and it was nice can’t wait to go back and have lunch or dinner there.

S. E.
Nice breakfast place. Good food and good service. $$

Tasty and healthy lean turkey burger! A big selection in the menu. A bit pricey for brunch but overall a good place to eat on the weekend.
M. R.
Excellent outdoor dining for lunch. Makes shopping in Dublin a lot more pleasant.
L. F.
Very tasty food and lovely surroundings. Love coming back
L. A.
Our server Anna was one of the kindest and lovely people ever! Furthermore the food was fresh and delicious! A little bit more seasoning for the avocado and poached eggs on sourdough would have been amazing, but other than that the place was superb!!
S. F. “. B.
Beautiful place for a meal or drink when shopping or visiting Dublin City, just of Grafthon Street.
A. “. S.
Stunning food, great service and a beautiful venue!
S. B.
Love this place, staff are so considerate and the food and cocktails are amazing also the terrace is such a hidden gem in such a lively area come rain or shine
M. F.
Beautiful food, great staff, lovely ambience
D. R.
Booked this restaurant after reading some good reviews. The reviews did not disappoint. We were seated at a great table that had plenty of space around it. Waitress was friendly as were all the staff we interacted with.
Food was superb, it's now one of my favourite restaurants in Dublin. Nice selection of wines and the cocktails were excellent.
Will definitely go back for more. Prices were very reasonable for the quality of service and food.
J. Y.
I went for a Sunday brunch with a friend of mine as i was attracted by both the menu and location. U haven't been disappointed at all!
The menu is not over fancy but the food is of very good quality.
And most importantly for me, the staff is so so nice! You feel very welcomed. That makes the difference. Highly recommended.
G. B.
Very happy with our visit. Pleasant welcome. Atmosphere congenial. Menu interesting and inviting. Table well laid. Chairs comfortable. And having been told the special was fillet steak we both opted for that. Delicious, beautifully cooked, well presented, and on a bed of kale and baby potatoes. We asked for dessert which arrived without further ado. It was charming - not sure what it was, other than it was served in a glass and it had layers of delicious creamy layers of sweet biscuit crumbs, cream and possibly blackcurrants. Coffee perfect. Price: Excellent value. Can't wait to go back.
D. L.
Brillant brunch, the blueberry pancakes and eggs benedict was simply great! Friendly staff as well.
K. L.
Went here for a team dinner and had the excellent crab starter, and the bland over cooked salmon. I’d go back here again (if someone else was paying :) and get the mussels and duck, which got good reviews from my coworkers. Service was friendly, good cocktails, moderately loud environment.
M. E.
Reservation strongly suggested. Brunch menus are over the standards of Dublin brunch places : amazing bread, great quantities and tasty bacon (props to that!)
The service is effective and they are always trying to accommodate to the best comfort possible despite the volume of people. Well done guys!
S. N.
Nice atmosphere, great food. 5/5
J. E.
Great place food was lovely and staff very helpful and friendly
G. B.
I've only had breakfast here midweek. The menu offers a number of healthy options including Bircher muesli.
Z. S.
Lovely place to meet friends and have a brunch:) or dinner.
C. M. G.
Loved this place. Great atmosphere . Lots of people enjoying the fine weather and having dinner and drinks after work. We had the fillet steak and all the trimmings. It was delicious. Staff were very friendly. Spotless toilets. Wheelchair accessible. We will be back.
L. F.
The interior here is just lovely, reminded us of New York. Staff is relaxed and very friendly. The portions are enough, food is presented nicely. Not the most mind blowing taste experience, but good enough. Definitely want to check this place out for drinks in the evening.
K. F.
Had dinner here after my daughters graduation on friday last. Great recommendation from friend, hotel looked beautiful. Service was fantastic, dinner was amazing and cocktails went down well. Highly recommend this restaurant
J. M.
Absolutely love this place!!!the most amazing staff and food!!!!would recommend the early bird €30 for a fabulous 3 course!!!can't wait to go back!!!😉😉
A. M.
Very nice food, great service. We had a large group and all ate very well. Pinot wine was lovely. Great atmosphere. All round great location. Next to lots of bars for after dinner drinks . Will be back 😀
C. d. B.
Had a really nice brunch here on Saturday afternoon, nice choice on menu and food was very tasty. Coffee was well made and bar staff very pleasant. One star deducted for the wait for food, great decor.
J. D. C.
Great location, beautiful atmosphere. Blueberry bacon pancakes were amazing. Hostess/manager a gem! Enjoyed watching the shopping hustle and bustle while we ate outside.
A. B.
Balfes is consistently good at delivering high quality brunch, lunch, and dinner options. Efficient and friendly staff. Elegant and lavish atmosphere with jazz typically playing in background. Could be considered expensive but is still worth it! Go try it.
C. K.
Lovely, gorgeous place. Atmosphere is nice. Lots of marble and clean spaces. Very difficult to get a table so booking is recommended. Staff is kinda snooty but maybe that's part of the charm!
L. O.
Excellent service. Popped in for a coffee & cake.
S. c.
Very nice place! Very polite and friendly stuff!
A. T.
Nice informal eatery located in central Dublin. Nice food and attentive staff. In particular the large choice of vegan and vegetarian dishes makes this a good place.
D. S.
A nice spot for brunch. Lots of variety on the menu and lots of healthy choices available. Staff are friendly and helpful and there’s a nice buzz about the place. Great location also.
D. C.
Just wanted to say a big thank you to the staff at Balfes Bistro in The Westbury for a beautiful FREE breakfast of bacon and pancakes....the perfect reward after a long night shift as a Paramedic👍
F. S.
Really good, unexpectedly family friendly considering the location. A bit of a cold look and feel but perhaps that was just becaus I was there for brunch. Might just feel very snazy at night. Really good food and outstanding service.
v. j.
Fab for food and drink, luv d atmosphere, Anna, one of the waitresses is amazing and so friendly. Makes a difference in restaurants. Highly recommended. Val Jeffrey
A. C.
Very good food and coffee, friendly staff and gorgeous interior design, but brunch is on the expensive side here (3€ for an espresso). Balfes is a lovely place, but you can get the same experience with a lower price tag in other city center restaurants.
B. G.
Very rarely if ever would I be impressed with Hotel or even Hotel associated dining, but have to say I had one of the finest and perfectly executed steaks in a long while in Balfes this week. A good steak is an all too rare commodity in Dublin eateries these days - a well selected and matured rib-eye, perfectly presented super tender, medium rare with caramelised onion, flat mushroom and vine tomato sides packed with flavour. Sounds simple, but pleasantly surprised to find it executed to such perfection here. Impressed.

Lovely restaurant and lovely meal

Our first visit and we will be returning. Lovely dinner.

Service excellent.
Charming staff.
Nicest omelette I've ever eaten, followed by a pecan pie that would make a grown man cry. (Tears of happiness)
A. G.
Fantastic food and great service from our waitress Isa.
J. O.
Balfes has the name and location but on this day, not so great. The background music was not great. They were hosting a party hence, we received a less than average service. Drinks were put on hold for sometime due to this "party planning". The food was OK but lacked that exceptional touch that goes with the location.
K. G.
I went there with my friend on breakfast. We ordered pancakes and scrambled eggs. The food was very tasty and the service was very good but we were disappointed with the attitude of the lady who seemed to be manager there.
L. H.
Great brunch menu, the tuna was amazing! Their prices are on the dear side. But food is really nice.
Need to book a table as they are very busy
M.
Best omelette I've ever had!
G. F.
Absolutely loved it. Went with my girlfriend the other day. Food was perfect. Service was spot on, attentive but non invasive which we both loved. Price is amazing for the quality and service we received.
C. M.
Went to Balfes with my friends (table for 4) last night and feel the need to recommend it as the salmon was so fresh and the cocktails, devine. one of the best restaurants in Dublin and certainly the most central.
P. F.
Had the Hake on a bed of greens, very well cooked, tasted very fresh and presentation was simple and effective. There for saturday lunch, room is bright and airy, staff seemed friendly.
C. C.
Very relaxing brunch, oat pancakes delish. Lovely staff didn't rush us and kid friendly.

L. C.
Pawel the waiter that served us is super efficient and very amicable. Also you won’t be disappointed in the quality of the food.
5 out of 5 BALFES.
C. G.
The place looks good, I did not get any food or drink, but saw the place and the atmosphere was incredible, is bad that there were too many places to visit in Dublin and you have only one day to know the most of you can, I wish I have more time to spend in the city next time
D. N.
Was looking for a healthy breakfast option in the city and was delighted to stumble upon Balfes. The BodyByrne range of dishes are fantastic for someone looking for some nutrition with their breakfast.
A. G.
Great for brunch . Extensive menu selection and good quality ingredients. Highly recommend the oat pancakes . Great service too.
S. V.

I have no idea what they do to their fish and chips, but God bless them.
Excellent food, kind people. Totally worth the money.

The new breakfast / brunch menu is very disappointing. The oat pancakes are inedible.

(Translated) Very nice non-smoking terrace for brunch. Unfortunately, the food was not up to me, my chicken wrap did not delight my taste buds, my friend had a kind of poached egg (I can't remember the name) and again a success in half-tone.
Go there for a drinks and a chat in a very nice place.

(Translated) The restaurant serves Irish and European cuisine in an excellent way. I ordered the grilled steak, two beef burgers, the traditional Fish and Chips, and a Super Food salad with chicken.
The salads were steamed and the fish grilled and the dishes and food inside were hot. The hosts are very nice and explain the ingredients of the dishes before ordering in detail. Prices are very good for the standard of restaurant and location.
