We had a lovely meal here for my wife's birthday. The food is absolutely superb - if there wasn't a pandemic, I might just have kissed the chef. Or shook his hand at least. The restaurant itself has a lovely comfortable French feel to it, and the staff were all just lovely.

I had a really lovely meal here midweek. The staff were so attentive and good humoured from the beginning, both being suited to an upscajle restaurant and putting us at ease. They have a special vegetarian menu and the staff were careful to point out the vegan options. The food was delicious, fresh and seasonal. It started with an amuse bouche, heirloom tomatoes to start, miso aubergine for mains. Everything was gorgeous to look at, gorgeous to taste. Even though there was no vegan option listed for dessert the kitchen whipped up something special for me and it really was the perfect end to a delicious meal. It was so good I tucked in before I could take a picture! Dax really is a special treat.

Normally they don't do the tasting menu on Wednesdays, but they made an exception, which was really nice. It's often mentioned in the same list as Michelin-star restaurants, but they're definitely not there (yet). Especially the duck breast and coquille in lobster oil were really good, the cheese plate was a little bit disappointing - two very similar cheeses (Comté) and not one really strong one. Also there was basically no help or advice regarding the wines. Nevertheless, the food was really good.

I always make it a point to treat my mom on the rare occasion we get to see each other, and Dax made the night utterly perfect. Fine dining in a cozy atmosphere. My friend and I were visiting from the US and we wanted a warm yet upscale experience. Our meal was absolutely lovely and the service was impeccable. The maitre d' stopped by our table and chatted with us. He was funny and laid back and gave us some recommendations for pubs around town. Our meal started with an amuse bouche of gazpacho and glasses of wine. It tasted like a fresh garden--the best gazpacho I've had in my life! And the wine list is extensive-some by the glass options and many bottle options. For dinner my friend had the filet and I had the lamb. Both were prepared to perfection and we even shared a small pot of green beans (the server will suggest sides to accompany your dish). At the end we shared two desserts and coffees. Our meal at Dax was just perfect and would highly recommend to anyone visiting Dublin.

From the moment I stepped inside the restaurant, I felt very welcomed and everything seemed to be on point. Service was impeccable and the food was beautifully presented and absolutely delicious. Seared fois gras had a marvelous texture and the combination of sweet roasted nuts with sweet&sour sauce made fois gras extra flavorful. For main, I had anjou pigeon which was seasoned and cooked perfectly. No doubt that this is one of the best restaurants in Dublin and definitely recommend booking this place months in advance.

As this place prides itself in a Michelin star (according to the plaque at the entrance) I can only give it 4 stars. The food is very good but lacks the finesse you find in other Michelin star restaurants. The interiors are very cozy but the cave-like walls dress the entire experience down a little. The service is friendly and engage in casual chats. The wine pairing is wonderful - definitely a stand out for me. A let down was the tiny pub-like loud bar at the entrance - not the best first impression.

Had the click and collect menu for two at €84 (no wine). Starters and main were OK but small with mashed or 'puree' potatoes and dessert was below par - my chocolate mousse had a soggy biscuit on top and some shrivelled figs, I think it had been described as a 'tart', anyway it was underwhelming and pricey enough. Want to support restaurants as much as we can afford at the moment as know they are suffering but this was just not ok.

Have been going to Dax for many years now. It never fails to provide the best of food and service. Returned last night to a wonderful welcome from Olivier and the team there. For our first time out since Covid we could not have chosen a better place. The food from chef Graham Neville was wonderful and everything was served within the two hours with perfect timing. No feeling rushed and every course was delicious. The seared fois gras starter was insanely good and the rum baba dessert was one of the nicest I've had there. If anything the new set menu format is even better value then before with everything being served and presented to the same high standards. Tables well spaced, spotless toilets and great attention paid to maintaining excellent covid protocols in a way that does not detract from the dining experience there. A totally relaxed and enjoyable meal. Great to see Dax open again and highly recommend it not just for the food but for friendliness and level of service of all the staff there that just creates the loveliest atmosphere.

The poor star rating should be considered against expectations. I have been to Dax several times and have thoroughly enjoyed it. This time was just before Christmas, and unfortunately it was relatively disappointing. The menu selection was uninspiring, as was the drinks and port selection. The food was perfectly reasonable and enjoyable, but there is better value elsewhere. This experience may have been driven by how close our booking was to Christmas, as I have previously really enjoyed a number of my meals at Dax.

Hello! So let's just start with the fact that my husband and I are from Amercia, and we are making serious moves towards living in Ireland. It was our one year anniversary, in November this year, and we have been together for seven years. We flew to Ireland and made our reservation at Dax before leaving the US. It was a hopeful reservation based on word of mouth that the restaurant was wonderful. The rumors were true! While I briefly listed the anniversary in our reservation, we had no expectations for special treatment. Wow, were we wrong. We were greeted by an incredibly kind staff who took our coats and walked us over to the loveliest table. It felt like we had our own special nook just for the two of us. After being seated the first surprise arrived! We were each brought a delicious bubbly glass of champagne (I'm not positive it was from the champagne region in France but who cares! It was exceptional), and the gentleman who brought it gave such a sincere congratulations to each of us. We placed our orders for appetizers and mains and relaxed. We ordered a great bottle of red wine and then experienced our second surprise. A delicious croquette, the perfectly sized taster that was so good I wished we had ten more. Our appetizer, an Aran goat cheese, was a bit unexpected and not quite what we preferred, but I believe that was a failing of ours and we should have read the description more thoroughly before ordering. The stars of the meal were my venison and my husbands steak. We both worked in fine dining for many years and have had some of the best food options available. Let me just say that Dax Restaurant just moved up to our top three restaurants we've ever been to. The service was exceptional and the food was spectacular. We aren't moving to Ireland just to go to Dax more often, but it's now part of our excitement. If we can go to Dax Restaurant every week then life will be so much more wonderful! Thank you Dax Restaurant, for making our first anniversary so very special, and for giving us another reason to move! We cannot wait to come back.

Dax is located on Upper Pembroke Street, a short walk from St Stephen's Green near the centre of Dublin. Its in a basment of a Georgian building with a couple of annexes, where we were seated. Its more a special occasion place rather than a lets go into town for lunch type of place. It was voted Best Restaurant Dublin and Best Chef Dublin in 2019 so expectations were high. It prides itself on local and seasonal produce and fine cooking. Menus are short - the A La Carte dinner menu has 5 starers, 5 mains and 4 desserts; the A La carte lunch menu has 2 starters and 2 mains as does the Vegetarian menu (order at time of booking). The set lunch menu has 3 starters, 3 mains and 3 desserts. We were here for lunch and chose the set menu - 2 courses for €29.50 or 3 courses for €36. We were warmly greeted, shown to a table in the alcove which seemed to have all the couples.

I am a big seafood fan and this place has a great selection of fish dinners on the menu. I've had both the Fillet of Plaice and the seared sea bream and they both were delicious and cooked to perfection. A little expensive but you pay for what you get I suppose

This place really excels. The quality restaurant scene in Dublin has continued to rise over the last few years, and Dax just keeps going up a notch every time I visit. Classic French influence, but with a few new twists in the current menu - I'm seeing a little bit of Asian influence in places with marinades, unusual sauces like tamarind, and the odd piquant but refreshing chilli. The menu is extremely difficult to choose from, is changed very regularly with lots of seasonal and local influence, and the service is absolutely impeccable. I thoroughly recommend it, and frequently do.

Fabulous food and great service from the ‘Leo Varadkar’ look alike on Friday 8th February. 🤣🤣🤣. He made me smile every time he passed by. I’ve been wanting to check out Dax for a very long time and it didn’t disappoint. Exquisite food served in an unpretentious setting. This is one of the best restaurants in Dublin ... It's up there with one pico and mulberry garden. Happily recommend the salmon & crab starter, the rabbit & the melting chocolate fondant (Tdf) .... All beautifully cooked, presented & served. Our party of four couldn't fault a thing we selected ... The fish and the meat eaters were all perfectly catered for on the night. The staff are exceptional - it's a friendly and attentive atmosphere & service offering. (the lovely things is that they give you space to enjoy your meal - there are no staff busily clearing every crumb from the table or insisting on pouring water and wine into your glasses after every sip - well done dax !!) The menu is well marked for allergy sufferers which is a brilliant feature and makes life so much easier ( a nut did end up in my dessert despite requesting nut free so something to be careful of) All in all top marks for a beautiful menu, fab food & a wonderful service.
