Tasty & worth for the price. Hotpot soup is tasty with various additional sides such as vegetables, crab stick, seafood, tofu, fish ball, and mushrooms. Definitely come back again

Great value for money! The hot pot experience was really nice. The choice of what to put into your own hotpot was good, as was the sauces. The satay soup base was okay but I wish to try the Hot and Spicy soup base next time as that seems tastier. I do wish there was more distance between each table though.

The hot pot experience at Lao was very nice. We were 3 and had the opportunity to try 3 different meats (beef, lamb & chicken) and there is a buffet of additional veggies and seafood that you can put in your hot pot. The mushroom hot pot was not very flavory, but the Satay one was good. We also tried the curry one which is quite spicy. The sauces on the side make all the difference :) We also tried pork dumplings, very tasty!!

We have been here multiple times for hotpot and Lao never disappoint! For €21.95 you get a broth with a plate of meat and unlimited condiments- you can eat/add as much as you want. The atmosphere is always great and the place is authentic for sure (most guests are Asians coming too enjoy a tasty hotpot!). Our go to restaurant in Dublin for hotpot. I highly recommend this place!

To be honest. The environment around Parnell st is not that nice. And not many decent Chinese restaurants too. It's shame to call that area as China town. But Lao hot pot is good compare to others. It offers unlimited hot pot with great selection (around 20 euro pp). Korean style BBQ and authentic Chinese food. Also some Japanese sushi as well. Food quality is good. Also u can book their karaoke room. Free of charge as long as u order enough food lol. Would recommend to everyone.

Very good food. Before going to the place, pick your preferred preparation for the day: hotpot or barbecue; (in case of barbecue) food arrives raw but cooks very fast, before you know it you would be turning over the food and eating simultaneously. Food has plenty of flavour and the sauce offered is very tasty. Will definitely repeat! (I recommend trying hotpot and barbecue on different occasions just to get a wider variety of flavours)

Hot pot buffet for EUR 22. All-you-can-eat beef/pork/chicken slices, small shrimps, mussels, and varieties of vegetables/mushroom/tofus. Several soups to choose from. The spicy (Sichuan numb chilli) one is nice. Btw, DON'T eat the fruits or anything that is not about to be cooked afterwards. They didn't separate the tongs at the bar. People use the same tongs for raw shrimps, desserts, and cantaloupes.

I have been supporting this business more than 8 years. I get on well with the owner and other senior waitresses. I come back tonight as usually I ordered hot pot. I ate it, enjoyed it and before I left. I gentle asked new waitress to pass me few containers as my friends were ordering too much and I didnt like food to be wasted while my people is starving at the momen so I took those food with me. That waitress backed to the table and raised her voice on me. I didnt aware that you can not take hotpot food left over. I then told her "If there's policy in your restaurant , I'm more than happy to obliged. I wouldn't packed hotpot food the first place but no need to speak to me with your high tone of voice. It was really unpleasant to me. Period" She took my plate and walked away unpleasantly. Frankly, food is delicious a little overpriced but atmospheres is nice thatshy I come back all the time; however, if they want to keep this business going, the owner should maintance and deliver the highest service to the customers.

Unlimited hot pot for 16 pp which is decent price. You can order basic meet (pork/lamb/beef slices) unlimitedly, there are also many choices of vegetable and other food at the bar. I was expecting a bit more varieties , but considering it's price , I'd say it's good enough. The pot has different choices too, if you like spicy type, this won't be spicy enough, I asked to add extra spice in the soup.

Tried the hot pot buffet and it was nice. Service was good. But they didn't have vegetarian dumplings. And some dishes were labeled vegetarian which wasn't (things with oyster sauce at least) These are the main reasons why I deducted one star. The section with Korean specialities looked interesting (especially the vegetable pancakes). Would also be good if they had vegetarian oyster sauce (it exists apparently).

I can only judge this place based on my own experiences here, of course. We went as a large group, and were quickly seated. We all got hotpot of various flavours and we asked them to simply keep bringing down the meat every time we ran out. There was, if I recall correctly, chicken, beef, lamb, and possibly pork? We also go about 60 dumplings between us and cleaned them all up too. The veg bar at the rear of the front area is great, especially the mushrooms and pak choi which go great in your hotpot stock, and the cow stomach was quite interesting too. I've never eaten anything not hotpot here so I can't comment here nor there about that, but for a brilliant group dining experience, with lots of chat and laughs and good food, getting a hotpot in Lao is a really great experience.

Great restaurant for Hotpot and BBQ. I had hotpot which was fine, you pay for the meat and the vegetables and tofu are available on a "all you can eat" basis. This also includes some desert but after having beef and lamb with lots of vegetables, good self made sauce - ingredients were varied and plentiful but a little too salty - I did not had any desire for desert. I was full. Will go again and maybe test the BBQ part of the menu.

My parents liked the buffet. We used to come here as a group after playing soccer in the Saturday evening. First time we order a big room with karaoke, which was great memory, haha, the lotus spicy fried chicken was impressive. I don’t remember anything else, but it’s the place first come to mind when people feel hungry for meat.

However if it's packed service can be really slow (be prepared to wait for an hour) and it can be really noisy with kids shouting and running around. However if you're willing to withstand all that you're going to get an amazing meal.

The first day I was in Dublin I ran into this restaurant. I was super happy to finally have Chinese after traveling 9 months in mostly South America. They made me general tso's chicken and it wasn't even on the menus. It was the best I've ever had! And the garlic broccoli was amazing. I liked it so much I went back the next day. But it wasn't nearly as good. I ordered if the lunch menu and the szechuan sauce was not very flavorful and very oily. I would go back for the general tso's!

Great place to get a huge heaping of food for either yourself or for a large group of friends. I went here with my school for a lung after my YCT Chinese exam and I have to be honest in saying that I had an absolutely wonderful lunch. I'm not certain as to wether it was a deal for us specifically or if there could have been a set menu at the price we were given. However, for €15, I had an immense amount of food that was cooked beautifully. The dishes ranged from succulent seabass to killer Kung Pao chicken to scrumptious Singapore noodles. The restaurant is really big as compared to how it appears from the outside and the seating area is fabulously decorated. I will definitely recommend Lao Chinese and Korean BBQ to many of my family members and friends due to the sheer quality of the experience I had here. Because of this, I have to recommend this establishment to all. If you happen to end up on Parnell Square with an empty stomach, give Lao Chinese a try, you won't regret it!
