Reviews of Leo Burdock Christchurch
A. L. B.
We went to this place because it is the most famous one, and we had just one day in the city. But the fish was tasteless and the potatoes was old. The smoked fish was hundred percent better, but the normal one was a big disappointment. I would not recommend that much the place. If I go back to the city, I would try to find a local bar with this dish.
I. C.
Overall it is a very decent fish and chips place. They give quite large portions of fish and French fries. The fish feels fresh and the fries are crunchy.
However you need to ask for the dips because I was not given with my order. And I also ordered for two people, but they only gave me one fork and no napkins. Make sure to ask for these things before getting your getting your order.

#Lets Guide oke I did not try yet an other fish and chips. But at Leo Burdock it sure taste good. 😁 😬
_ they use fresh oil to fry in! How different in the Netherlands........ 😁
_ they give such large portion that even a portion of 8euro is far to mutch!! 😊 ❤️
_The fish 🐠 was perfectly covered with some dough.
- _. _. _.
Oh ofcourse no need to worry! No Dutch are working here..... 😁 😬
D. P.
Great fish and chip shop. Tasty fish and perfect chips (huge portion)
F. P.
Simply two words: Delicious and generous! I love fish and chips and these are definitely one of the best I had so far in my life!
W. C.
This is definitely one of the better fish and chips I have tasted. The batter on the fish is just nice and not oily. The chips tastes great with the salt and vinegar added by the owner who packed our order. We had the fresh cod option and it tastes good! There is no place to sit and eat inside so we walked to the nearby church that has benches. 😄

Best fish and chips in Dublin this place is a historical land mark in the heart of the oldest part of Dublin near Christchurch and Dublin Castle they have a list on the wall outside
With the names of all the famous people who have visited here from film stars to music icons friendly staff well worth a visit
T. A.
Oh my god, best fish and chips I've ever tried in my life. I sincerely thought it was only the hype around it, but man was I wrong.
If you're in Dublin, this place is a must go.
S. P.
It was just okay. The fish was a little tasteless and the chips were not crunchy at all. There is also no seating so in total I would say a little expensive for what you get. But the fish was very fresh!
K. B.
Great food, I’d pick here over Leo burdocks out in howth which is situated beside me for obvious reasons that the staff are very nice and good to see them wearing no masks, bit of normality
B. K.
I had a perfect bag of chips here, wrapped in paper, then in a paper bag, with a little wooden fork (all very sustainable). Substantial, hot, delicious and very fast. There's no seating in the shop, but it's right across the street from Christchurch Cathedral and lots of folks eat their chips on the benches in it's garden. The hills will drop by for scraps. It's an essential part of the Medieval Dublin tour.
K. M.
You should stop here for fish & chips if you're in the area. Fish and chips were very good... staff was friendly but super busy at times. Serving size is huge.
A. W. (.
Came here twice, once on my first night in Dublin and the second on my last night. My first visit I got the fresh cod and chips and that was really good. The second night I got the smoked cod and chips which I'd never had before. It was really salty and the batter didn't really stick to the fish, it kind of just pulled right off and was really greasy.
Overall I enjoyed the food but I'd definitely recommend the fresh cod over the smoked cod.
A.
Amazing quality fish and great portions for the cost. However, would be nice if they had a sitting area. We had to sit on the street to eat our fish and chips.
W. A.
Good place to pick up some classic fish and chips. Different types of fish to choose from. Big servings as well. Fast service. No seating here unfortunately. Can choose from different types of sauces as well for more variety.
I. S.
It's very small and very traditional looking. The menu is the smallest you'll ever see in a chippy but what they do sell is very tasty. The fish is fresh, the batter is crispy and the chips are proper and taste great. Get some extra batter scrapings if you like the crispy bits and go and eat them in the church yard nearby but mind the seagulls and pigeons.
G.
What can I say best around for fish and chips and very friendly staff always nice bit of banter
A.
Great fish and chips but didn't get any ketchup or dipping sauce and fork. So please ask
J. K.
Fast and efficient. Excellent cod, scampi and chips but expensive enough for a quick takeaway 13e/portion.
i. h.
Great fish and chips.. Very tasty, huge portions every time!
W. D.
I really loved it here the food was amazing I love fish and chips and my friend had been raving about this place for ages, so when we had the chance to get there it didn't disappoint. Good honst food no waiting about and so tasty really good portion size aswell so you won't be hungry after eating here. Great location it is a takeaway so there is no seating inside but there are humorous placed close by to sit and enjoy your food. I'll deffinitly be back.
L. R.
Still the best fish n chips in Dublin hasn't changed the quality thank you lads 🇮🇪👌
T. W.
Excellent ! The crew is WAAAAAY more nice than the Leo burdock of temple bar !
The smoked cop is amazing !
But be careful they give to much chips haha, hard to finish!
J. H. L.
We tried fish and chips for the first time here, it was crazy good, the man serving us was incredibly nice, the cod used was smooth and tasty, we are portuguese so we know our cod
J. V.
Pretty huge portion size, more than enough for two hungry people. Friendly service.
R. S.
Counter service only with no seating. For somewhere around 12 euros, you get a solid packet of the most delicious fish and chips you can imagine. The fish itself was sweet and meltingly tender, the chips were a giant portion that was hard to finish.
V. D.
Glad I went but won't go back. I feel it truly is overpriced and overhyped but you do get a massive piece of fish. The whole thing was so heavy, much more than a single person should eat. It is a shame that sauces like ketchup or mayo are extras because even with salt and vinegar the whole thing tasted bland. The staff was friendlier than other reviews suggested. Note that there's no seats but that's no biggie since the location is 5mins away from the cathedral and the castle, find a bench and enjoys Irelands infamous weather.
S. C.
one of the best fish and chips! no seating area but it was so good!! totally worth a visit!! Thanks!
A. L.
This place was really nice. After checking out reviews we deiced to give it a try. Fish portions wet big, the chips was tasty. All in all, very good.
G. C.
Fantastic fish and chips, quite delicate batter and great fish. Chips are fantastic. I had fresh cod which was excellent and the blonde had smoked which was genuinely tasty beyond belief. Great place and worth a visit.
C. M.
Chips are fantastic vs beautiful get it all wrapped up in the night white paper nothing else you can say about a perfect chip shop oh the staff are very friendly
F. R.
Lovely smoked cod and the chips were great however the batter was just too hard.
J. D.
As a Dubliner who likes me fish and chips, this place is okay. The staff are invariably fun to chat with, but the last two times that I have been, the fish has been sort of mealy and the chips have been sort of soggy. I get the tradition and yeah I can understand why some may like, but wow, if you want crisply battered fish and decent chips there are at least 3 better places within 500 metres
W. C.
Amazing fish n Chips from one of the oldest chippers around. Expect ques but it's worth it
S. P.
What better way to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day (when Dublin has shut down,) then to grab some of the best take away in town and celebrate from your hotel room. Slainte!
M. M.
Really crispy battered fish! Large portions. Good value for money
M. S.
Words can't describe thee oldest standing chippers in the great city of Dublin.. Its a historic spot
A. D.
Lovely chips. No too soggy. My go-to chipper
r.
Famous and traditional Fish & Chips many famous people around the world dropped over there to this takeaway delicious
K. K.
Nice fish and chips 👌
J. M.
Magic as always..the staff the lads are deadly..I've been getting my fish and chips here for over 30 years the best in the world..hail hail
A. B.
Great for Fish and Chips and Batter Sausages are brilliant too
L.
No frills fish and chips, that are oh sooo tasty. The smoked is by far my favourite. You get a large portion for both.
c. m. h.
Good old fashioned fish and chips take away.
J. W.
Best bloody fish anywhere ...but order more onion rings😁
J. A.
Ask these chaps if they do salad, their reaction is better than the food ;)
M. A.
Best fish and chips in Dublin. Very ample portions - everything was fresh and surprisingly not greasy at all. The place is very small but not cramped. We stopped because we saw that it was very busy. Sometimes it is good to follow the crowd. We weren't disappointed. If you are a fish and chips fan - go for this.
R. C.
Best fish and chips of Ireland! Pick your box, go behind the church and eat on the amphitheater of City Council!
S. W.
Great fish & chips. Well-seasoned, huge pieces, nice light crunch. Loved it!
C. R.
Se heard that this was one of the best fish and chips in Dublin, so we had to try it... I just have to say we were not disappointed. If you’re not in the mood or don’t like fish, they have some other options, but the chicken tenders are amazing!
M. d. V.
This was my first fish and chips and I am happy to have it in Leo Burdock. The cod was fresh, crunchy and tasty, the chips amazingly fried. Eating outside the park, with some windy rain, and a seaggle trying to steal the food made the experience even more in theme with the dish.
B.
Easily the best fish and chips I've ever had. The portions were a great size for the money (about 9 Euros for cod and chips), and the cod itself was crispy and perfect. The chips were cooked to perfection. It was so good I visited several times over the course of 2 weeks. Tip: Ask for extra vinegar and salt!
L. D. M.
Really yummy fish!
F. Y.
The best fish and chips in town but expensive.
C. R.
Absolutely delicious fish and chips! Best I’ve ever had anywhere. A lot of good for a good price. Nowhere to sit inside so only carry out, but still 100% worth it. So, so good.
N. L.
This place...Amazing fish and chips! As a home grown Ontario girl, it can say I've had nothing like this before in Canada. I totally understand they have been making fish there for over 100 years, and it's probably the same location, but 9pm at night..in the rain..it would have been nice to have at least one table to eat it fresh! This restaurant is a quick..walk in..order..walk out. The perfect hole in the wall..on sunny days and warm nights!
J. F.
Hit up for change by a street beggar outside one of the temple bars. Said that I had no change...shame on me for the lie. Anyway, asked him where the best fish and chips place is nearby. His name was David. David had a bit of a speech impediment. So now, I felt more guilty. Time to be a Christian. So, he led us off for about a seven minute walk to Burdock's. Bought both him and I each an order of cod and chips for 10.5 euros each. The orders are huge. The cod was fresh and nicely battered. The potatoes tasted real- not needing to have any spice. A very nourishing experience.
J. P.
3.95 for chips is just a bit much.... hard to enjoy
K. R.
Nice fish and chip shop. It's a to go place so either eat in your car or get it to go. The portion size of fish is very large. Not sure if it's cash only, but didn't see an option for card so paid cash. Less 1 star because the food wasn't salted well enough which I thought back the flavor lacking a bit. Oldest fish and chip shop in Dublin where lots of celebrities like to go. Worth a visit.
M. W.
Excellent food! Portions are large and can easily be split by 2 people. The staff were very nice and recommended going to eat at the park at St. Patrick's Cathedral. It was very close and gave us an opportunity to enjoy the food and the beautiful weather at the same time! Highly recommend!
C. B.
One of the best fish n chips in dublin. Very reasonably priced with generous portions. No seating, its take out only and the varying dips are a must try.
T. E.
Some people claim that this is the best chipper on town and I think in most respects it is.
The fish is good, it's grease the French fries are chunky and they are soft which is how Irish people seem to like them best.
It is definitely worth trying just for being such a traditional Irish chipper, but you have to be into that kind of thing :)
J. D.
The best Fish & Chips I've ever had in my life. Staff was also amazing and helpful. Portions are humongous and the price is very affordable. Only minus there are no seats in the shop, I had to eat it in a nearby park in a rain. But it was a memorable experience for sure!
Z. G.
Fantastic fish and chips. The batter is perfect, the fish is fresh, and the chips are hot. The portions are a little big and they can be easily shared; you're guaranteed to get your fill. In my opinion it's a must visit.
U. J.
Good fish and chips especially when you're in a hurry. The portions are huge! Get the curry sauce. Omg so good! Note this is a take away location only. You can not dine in. Bonus points that it's Dublin's oldest fish and chips place.
P. H.
This is what a ‘chipper’ is meant to be. It’s a rare guilty pleasure but I love it :-)
M. C.
Tiny but legendary place near Dublin City Centre. This serves Traditional fish and chips done really well. There is no seating so it’s take away only. It can get really busy around lunchtime but it is very much worth the wait. The battered fresh cod is really excellent and the chips are delicious.
T. K.
Best Fish and Chips I've ever had. Shown to me by my close cousin who is a local. I go every time I'm in central Dublin!
A. K.
When I go in any restaurant serving fried food, I always watch for a moment. How often are they dumping chips? Are they cooking in clean oil? Does the place smell ‘right’? Am I going in when they are the busiest?
All of these standards were met. The price is irrelevant. The portion was very big. I had no problem getting sauce, the fish was crisp, not greasy, the chips were crunchy on the outside, tender inside. I’m not saying bad visits don’t happen, mine was excellent. In England you have to look for bad fish & chips. I’ve had great times at several chippers over there and this is as good as any. The man is trying to make a living here. If you’re pleased, tell the world. If you’re unhappy, tell him and help him correct what upset you.
J. D.
Stopped by for some fish and chips and was not disappointed. Extremely large portions and freshly made. It needed a bit of salt but I'd rather it be under salted than over salted. A very good chipper, indeed!
A. S.
Not the best chip shop I have came across. Was rather greasy with hard chips, and there was more batter on the fish than fish. I would give chippy 3/5.
S. G.
Thanks to the 2 members of staff in Leo's (Christchurch)on Saturday 10th April 2021. I arrived just after 10pm to get food, only to be told they served there last customer.
When I told them I travelled in from Clondalkin, they looked after and did so very well. Again, thanks a lot lads...up the dubs.
M. K.
Is OK, but they never got lemon sole when I'm there, only cod, that's strange, why you got it on you board then?Another thing I got my order yestarday- fish(cod🙄) and chips all in the big bag, not in the box like use to be, so everything was mixed together like a mashed fishochips. Staff don't look happy over there either. That place was very famous and great but not any more, lots of better options in the city.
M. G.
Had high hopes for Leo Burdock’s due to the reviews. I was pleasantly surprised by the fries. I usually don’t like thick cut fries since there’s too much “potato” in one bite, but this one was probably one of my favourite ones and wasn’t overwhelming. Salt and vinegar addition is a must.
Moving on to the fish... the Cod didn’t really have much taste to it and the batter was very gooey and makes for an unpleasant texture in your mouth.
Would happily go back for its fries but would pass on the fish.
W. I. A. H. I. W.
I've eaten here twice in 12 months. First the fish was nice, chips were nice. A little oily. This last time the fish was super oily, dripping. The chips were oily and soggy. Price is not cheap either. Would I buy here again? Maybe not, I've had better fish and chips in the area.
L. N.
Very nice fish and chips. The fish is crispy on the outside and tender on the outside, chips are a bit soft but have a wonderful taste that compliments the fish well. Get a cup of garlic sauce and enjoy a perfect comforting dinner.
C. J. M.
Usual very Decent whith the chips but not this week ..
M. S.
Very friendly.
Cod and scampis very tasty.
R. E. O.
Best fish and chips ever 👌love the crispy bits staff are very friendly, I used to get my lunch here every day, I hadnt been in years, still the same as I remembered
M. C.
The fish and chips are delicious. They have traditional and smoked fish, both are great. It is all take out, but we walked down to St. Patrick's park and are there. Note that one serving is a lot of food and you could easily share.
D.
Maybe the first meal in my lifetime that left me without any hunger whatsoever. No nonsense food, just fish, fries and some vinegar. Perfect if you are hungry. Best fish&chips i ever had.
A. L.
A pitoresque small place with old employees and one of the best fish & chips in town. Not as good as old times since the recent fire damaged the old frying pan.
No sitting places but Christchurch gradens are an excellent place to enjoy eating.
S. L.
Very small place so no room to eat in but the size of the portions was dismal. I asked for a large and was given what looked like a half bag of chips. The curry Sauce is warmed up by a microwave and tastes disgusting.
S. K.
Fast service and quite possibly the best fish and chips I've ever had!
R. A.
I very much enjoyed my fish suppers out of Leo's. I normally get the single (unsmoked) fish at €6.70, which is like a small fish supper anyway (quite a few chips at the bottom). The battered burgers are also very nice (though can be a little greasy, so be sure to bring napkins). Decently priced and within a short walk of Christ Church, St. Patrick's, Dublin Castle and other City attractions.
I very much look forward to my next visit!
M. N.
Fresh cod fish&chips 10,25€ + souce 1,95€. Very testy, take away.
P. o.
The batter on the fish is to heavy and the portions of chips are smaller the new owner should know better than change something that was a big success but then they just want to make a quick buck sad for the brand that was there first
T. R.
Superb fish and chips. Fast, fatty and all you need to make you happy!
S. C.
Fast serving. It was 30secs waiting time for us. Although the food itself wasn’t the best, the food wasn’t freshly cooked, the food we god was from a hot counter. The quality of the fish was good, but dry, specially the chips. A bit disappointed as we heard this is the best place in town.
3starts only because the fast service.
M. M.
Great, freshly-made fish and chips at an affordable price. Was recommended to me by a friend who grew up in Dublin and was told to visit for an authentic experience. Wasn't disappointed!
S. J. D.
This is the best fish n chips! When we visit from the States, this is our first stop before we hit the pubs! Get crispy bits and tell them to keep going with the vinegar! Never had anything near as good in America, or any where!
A. D. S.
The food is traditional in that it is basically one big ball of grease. However, unlike traditional fish and chips that I expect to be a ball of grease, it didn't have much flavor. Not worth the gut-bomb. But the people who work there are unbelievably nice! The older gentleman behind the counter told us "this is what you're going to do. You're going to take this down the street and turn here, go into the park and eat this in the grass." He was right, the park was lovely and the experience was great! The amount of food you get is unreal! Just be prepared for a gut-bomb!
D. C.
Hands down best fish and chips in Dublin, if not in the entire country. They make lemon sole like nobody else! No wonder this is the oldest chipper in Dublin and still the best in business for a reason.
M. R.
A very true to form chipper. Split a full order of fish and chips with the wife, and we wondered how anyone could finish an order themselves. It was quite greasy of course, but I think everyone knows what they are getting into there. I asked the lads for the 'crispy bits' on top, and they roared with a 'yes' response. With all the fried goodness, it actually didn't need the bits, which were just dry and added to the fried food bomb in my stomach. I know I am in the majority, but skip the bits and plan to split the order and you'll be very happy with your meal.
L. C.
This is hands down the best Fish & Chips I have ever, ever eaten! Had the Lemon Sole and it was Devine! My Husband hates fish but said he'd go back to Dublin just to stop here. The best part is that it is JUST AROUND THE CORNER from our hotel The Jury's Inn at Christchurch. Our only regret is that we found it on our last night there.
C. M.
The best fish and chips in Dublin thanks
S. F.
The history of this place + the opportunity to try smoked fish & chips make it worth the trip if you're in Dublin. It's certainly not the best fish/chips you'll ever find -- and I'm not even sure it's the best in Dublin as many sites insist, but it's still ok and the people are very friendly. Fine for food on the run...
T. R.
I love the fish, but hate the fries. They probably have their reasons to keep the fries soft and soggy, but it's not to my liking at all. The fish is the best fish (deepfried, in combination with fries) I had in Dublin. Good to know: You get your order within a couple of minutes.
M. R.
Beat fish et chips as well as battered scampi et chips!!
T. S.
street and just eat in your car, we saw a few people do this. Otherwise if the day is nice out (we got lucky), then walk over to St Patrick's cathedral or Christ church cathedral to eat. Both spots have plenty of benches.
Highly recommend trying this place out. Go for the classic cod and chips.
d. k.
Battered sausage was lovely. Curry was class. Chips were a bit too greasy. Still good though.
N. S.
Best fish & chipper in town. Especially on Good Friday! Friendly staff and kids facinated by the size of the place. Sat in sunny Dublin Castle courtyard and enjoyed our lunch there. Delicious X
P. P.
They gave us tons of food! The are no dining facilities. Take out only. We loved the fish and chips but would have preferred a table with and to lots of ketchup and Tabasco sauce!
B. C.
You got to love this chipper in the heart of Dublin.
F. C.
I’ve came here many times over the last few year and every time it doesn’t disappoint. I wasn’t left waiting long at all for my food, the staff are very friendly and helpful and the food was delicious!
K. M.
Being an Englishman living in Texas for nearly 20 years I've craved fish and chips for a long time. We went to Ireland for a friends wedding and had a couple of days in Dublin. We explored Dublin using the Hop on Hop ff buses and on the tour they stop at various places where you can get on and off and stay as long as you like as the other buses turn up every 15 minutes. I had to stop at Christchurch as I had heard about the famous fish and chip shop Leo Burdock's, wow were they good. Absolutely the best I've had in 20 years. It has made me completely 100% homesick.
T. S.
The fish was amazing. Could not have enough of it. The portion was large enough but would consider getting just getting the fish minus the chips. The salt and vinegar was much appreciated with this meal.
P. C. M.
9.70 euros for a great fish and chips!
Just takeaway.
M. K.
The fish & chips here are the best in Dublin. The queue moves quick. You can't go wrong if you're feeling hungry.
C. M.
Great food as always.. and great history
K. N.
I'm by no means a fish and chip enthusiast so take this review with a grain of salt and vinegar :-) super generous portions, quality cod fish and thick cut fries - perfect meal to share for two people (does anyone really finish this off by themselves?). Go visit! The wall of fame is fun to browse through while you're chowing down too!
H. A. C.
Amazing fish and chips. The best I have bad in Dublin. Just note that it is take away only- watch out for the birds in Dublin castle if you want to eat there haha
N.
Really nice staff and absolutely crackin fish and chips! I'd only ordered for delivery until now and didn't know about the history of Burdocks, interesting little read while I waited for my dinner. Cheers ladies I will be back.
J. Y.
Lovely Fish and Chips. Served in the traditional way in a traditional building. Only problem is finding somewhere to eat them quickly.. A must if you love your Fish and Chips.
M. M.
BEST fish & chips in IRELAND
S. J.
It is said to be the best fish and chips place in Ireland and it does not disappoint. The list of celebrities who have visited here include the likes of u2, Madonna and several more.
The portion sizes are huge so even if you pay €10 it can easily satisfy two people or at least 1 very hungry person(like me).
Do drop by if you can. It's very close to dublin castle as well so you can caryy your food there to eat and enjoy the scenery.
R. O.
Great cod and chips, one serve feeds two! Bargain for just under 9 euros. No seats, but the nearby benches at the cathedral and the city council building make for a great stop. Staff were friendly and food was hot and some of the best fish and chips I have eaten.
a. g.
Best fresh fish in ages and the chips were good too !!
G. B.
Best fish and chips in Dublin and the value is great. Portions are huge! Staff are really lovely too
.. T.
Noted Traditional Chipper, the fast food is prepared fresh. Its OK, I won't be returning
B. C.
However fish and chip is not my favorite food, but what I ate there was okay. One of the top 10 online lists says that Leo Burdock serves the best fish 'n' chips in Dublin.
J. D.
Leo Burdock is an institution, if you are visiting Dublin, you just have to get fish and chips, there is no way around it. The fish is great, the chips not so much (massive and non crunchy). Be wary that the portions are enormous, enough to feed two normal persons imho.
p. h.
You will never beat fish and chips from the original Leo Burdocks ..
M. R.
Amazing fish and chips and much more ...all you need is a fresh batch loaf to compliment the food..
D. M.
I'm not a big fish & chips fan, but this is just great food. The only thing I need is a place to sit down, but the benches at Christchurch do just fine in a pinch. Oh! and I've never been able to finish it. Great value!
A. B.
Been there twice and going to be there def. another time when in Dublin again.
The fish 'n chips with smoked salmon is a keeper. Cheers!
R. O.
Lovely fish and chips. But the curry sauce was cold
R. S.
Nothing to say other than business as usual. Fantastic food. We went a good bit from our destination for it. Hadn't been there for a long time and I had heard a couple of times the standard had dropped but I'm glad it hasn't.
P. G.
Always a pleasure - my only complaint is that their scampi is always so popular, so I often miss it. Best fish and chips in Dublin by far.
R. R.
Fish Supper wrapped in paper ... smoked cod and chips 10 euro great value. No gimmicks no add one just fish and chips of the finest quality
S. D.
Delicious because we were sooo hungry, but sooo greasy that I have to be honest about the rating. No place *at all* to sit, so don't think this is a proper restaurant or café. Just get your chips and take them home or, if there is a warm and not-too-windy day, go to the park.
J. K.
Great food at good prices
M. B.
Some people say its the best fish & chips in Dublin, but I think its not. The fish is really fatty and the chips are not that great too. And its expensive!
N. J.
OMG 2 pounds of the tastiest fish and chips I have ever had. Bring an appetite, sit on the steps opposite the entrance to Dublin Castle.
A. H.
Good Fish & chips. Huge portions. One serving of fresh cod with chips is more than enough for two people.
A. V.
So.
Fudging.
Delicious.
Strictly take out, though the Christchurch cathedral has some benches outside that make a great spot to eat.
Go away birds.
k. j.
lovely quaint little chipper in the heart of dublin. never had a bad chip from this place, not even once. salt and vinegar? yes please mate !
M. A. R.
One of the best Fish & Ships in the city.
E. W.
An entire fried fish with salty fries with vinegar- delicious! Super friendly staff and very quick. Just charming! Not a sit-down place to eat
C. K.
Very nice , menu a little limited but good
S. D.
We were looking for a take away place near our Airbnb, and this spot was fantastic. They only do take away, but the food is great, the portions are enormous, and the prices are good. Check it out!
D. M.
Great fish and chips from this famous Dublin institution. The list of famous people who haven't eaten here is shorter than that of those who have. Tucked out of the way close to Christchurch Cathedral.
A. W.
I was told by my taxi driver that this place has the best fish and chips in Ireland. I want disappointed. The portions are very generous.
J. W.
Great to grab a quick bite on the go.
J. D.
Very good and big portion :D
A. V.
Excellent food. A little pricey for takeout, but HUGE portions. Two people could eat one dish, no problem. They don't have forks, so be prepared to eat with your hands.
m. w.
Great Dublin food, great staff.
Remember to tip when you can.
d. w.
Excellent fish and chips, seldom queue for more than a minute or two. Portions big enough to share. This place lives up to its reputation.
J. W.
Always great fish and chips, perhaps the best in the city! Love it as an occasional treat!
K. T.
Walked to get real fish and chips here on my second day in Dublin. Well worth the walk and the garlic sauce is amazing.
K. M.
OK... gonna keep this review really short!! Best chipper in Dublin!
B. w.
Used to be fab .chips undercooked..greasy fish. Greasy batter .Still OK as starving
P. H.
The best fish and chips 🍟 😋delicious 👍👍
P. M.
Great fish and chip portion served with some friendly banter. Good fish, tasty and fried to perfection. Sure to stop by again when I get the chance.
A. B.
Great fish and chips. Pure and simple. If you’re looking anything else or expecting anything other than that, you’re in the wrong place.
b. t.
Best chipper in Dublin. ask for the cod and chips with crispy bits loads of salt and vineger have to get the crispy bits.ooo yes ide nearly stick me Micky in the bag.
M. M.
It's a brilliant chipper..can have few complaints about the food. Definitely on the pricy side, but to be honest the food reflects the extra couple of euro.
M. J.
The most famous fish and chips in Dublin. Large portion for 10.95€ could be for 2 people.
C. R.
Friendly staff. Good timing and wrapped well. A busy place. Food was delicious as usual. Omg Got to try the smoked fish.
J. C.
Love the chips and bits with garlic mayo! Not good for my waistline but delicious to eat! So yummy! Friendly staff too!
S. V.
Oldie but goodie. Very good price and friendly staff. There’s no seating area but there’s two parks nearby to sit and eat. The portions are HUGE and the fries very tasty.
W. S.
Amazing fish and chips. Perfectly flakey cod with crunchy batter sitting on a bed of chips. If you like fish and chips this is heaven.
S. C.
The Best fish and chips in Dublin
A. C.
Delicious and quite a big portion. I normally pack it and go to the nearest park bench and have it. Each time I visit Dublin, this is one of my "must stops".
4.
Beautiful fish and chips, so good i had them both nights we were there, just dont expect a smile from the staff.
B. H.
All these 'very goods' are relative – because fine dining, this ain't. However, as Dublin institutions go, Leo Burdock's deserves all the credit it gets. This is the place where Bruce Sprinsteen eats when he comes to town. And if it's good enough for the boss, it's good enough for you. Grab your feed and head down to the benches at Christchurch and huddle under the trees from the rain. Admittedly, this may not sound like a lot of fun but it's a very Dublin experience and it actually can be rather romantic as long as you and your date don't mind stinking of vinegar afterwards. But lets face it, if she's upset about that, she's probably not right for you anyway. The food is greasy, the fish is delicious and never, ever forget to ask for 'crispy bits'.
J. S.
Definitely the best fish and chip you will buy anywhere highly recommend this place it's just a pity you can't eat on the premises enjoy
R. M.
There's a reason the line is almost always out the door(other than there only being room for about 4 people inside). Leo Burdock's has the best chips and garlic sauce I've ever had.
j. c.
Affordable plentiful food in Dublin centre and popular quarter.
Traditional style take away fish and chips.
T. R.
Small but nice place with excellent fish&chips
I. D.

A. F.
Shh sneaky chips on the way home! An institution!
A. W.
Excellent fish and chips, you have to try them. And take some garlic sauce
H. B.
Always amazing! Best smoked cod and chips ever..... don't forget to pick up their speical vinegar... 😊
H. B.
It was hot, fresh and crunchy. Nice portable lunch for a break in St Patrick's Cathedral Park. As an American just make sure you ask for tartar sauce.
M. B.
Love a chip and onion rings..
C. M.
Good chips but at €3.50 for the standard bag it’s a super high price to pay for a bag of sliced spuds from the country where they are in abundance.
M. P.
Weeerl... I know they've been around for over 100 years.. But I've been to a few pubs that do their own thing, beer batters and whatnot, and those remain in memory. Classic and great though, must be had!
M. M.
Too good fish to be true... our Polish foodie journalist Robert Makłowicz had it all right... Excellent value for money and awesome quality. A definite recommendation to all!
e. c.
The best chips in Dublin! Service witha bit of light hearted banter too, what more could you want!
M. F.
best fish and chips in town. ask for chips with crispy bits and you wont be disappointed
J. H.
The best fish and chips in Ireland. We ate it in an alley way behind the castle as there is nowhere to sit at Leo's.
J. M. E.
Hard to beat a fish & chips from Burdock's when the notion sets in, and as good as any anywhere they are.
K.
Chips were very hot, service was excellent but too many crumbs and crispies, not enough whole chips in the presentation.
R. C.
The fish was like an inch and a half thick. The day I ate Leo Burdock fish n chips was the day I learned I'd never actually REALLY eaten fish n chips before.
p. o. b.
The best chipper in Dublin
P. D.
Try the smoked cod, it has cheese inside! Individual order portions are more than enough for two to share.
A. N.
The meal was a little soggy (might have been a little unlucky), and the order I got was wrong, but otherwise it was the tastiest fish and chips I've had in all of Dublin.
J. G.
One of the best fish and chips I've had. Will definitely recommend this to anyone visiting Dublin.
F. F.
Yeah Yeah, so it was a blessing, probably the Best Cod in my Life, a matter of the Heart...
