Generally great experience. The idea to get your steak or tuna on the hot stone and have it cooking in front of you is very interesting. The staff is generally very polite.
I hugely enjoyed certain flavours and dishes. The cauliflower was unfortunalely partly burned, which made it taste a bit bitter.
A bit expensive, but you know what to expect once you look at the menu online. :-)
Nice for an elegant or celebration dinner or just to experience the place.

Rustic Zone is a great place to go to with friends or family. The atmosphere is nice and the food is of great quality.
I would highly recommend the meat. It is served on a hot stone and you can cook it at your own speed and preference.
Prices are generally high for food and drinks, so be ready to pay your meal at a high price.
On of the downside linked to the hot stone cooking is that your clothes will most likely smell smoked after 2 Hours at the restaurant.

Hidden gem.. Delicious food, very friendly staff and really nice , good for Brunch , lunch or an evening meal. Lots of parking and a park across the road to go for a walk after .

We went with a group of four on Saturday for lunch. Many options to go for from their a la carte as well as set menu. We all went with for 2 course from set menu. I ordered carrot soup and salmon, it was amazing. The presentation of the soup on the table was pretty amazing. I loved the soup it was very different from any other place. Creamy, sweet, tangy with mints, olives and oranges. It was quite a soup to be honest. Salmon was pretty good too with coconut and lemon dressing with bowl full of green. Again the presentation was good and tastes equally better. Staff were very nice. I would go again.

Pricey, but well worth it!
Everything tasted perfectly.
Starters: cold beetroot broth (reminded me of Polish “chłodnik” in the summer, mmm...) and truffle chips both a hit. However, as there were already beans in the broth, I didn’t finish the 7 Beans salad (I thought there would be more leaves...
Steak (fillet): I am speechless. So good.
Dessert: I actually had 3 desserts as it was my BDay and they surprised me with a Bday plate :)
Portuguese mousse with pear: heavenly! I melted. Will definitely come back, whenever funds allow ;)

Beautiful food. A definite 'must go' for a foodie. Booking required, always busy!! Great service. Staff were lovely.

The Stone Steak idea is very nice, but somehow it just feels it doesn't deserve that 5th Start. Had Avocado & Tomatoes salad as a side which was a pleasant surprise. Staff were very friendly and move swiftly with the order.

Amazing experience! I had been twice to Rustic Stone and both times both food and wine were great. First time I had to wait a couple of minutes at the bar, second at the patio. Wine in the first visit, a Guiness in the second :) Service was nice, food was served quickly. A good option in Dublin, but book in advance.

Our team book the table for Christmas lunch. We were sat next to another big group of people so at some point it was very loud. The restaurant has set Christmas lunch/dinner which consists of starter/main course and salad/desserts. My friend who is vegan ordered vegan version of the soup yet, she recived ham and cheese so I swapped with her for my orange salad. The grilling your own steak experience is a little bit disappointing as I like my well done and had to borrow another person's mini stow as mine was not hot enough. It is ok if someone likes medium rare but for me they should ask uf someone likes well done and fry it a little bit themselves. The wine and desert was delicious. It was pleasant event.

Great place for a steak! Our first meal in Dublin was just great. I would highly recommend the truffle fries. The food was pricey but the lunch menu was reasonable.

This was the first real meal my husband and I had on our European Honeyversary. It was a great find; I highly recommend this place! There were a few options, but as I was glancing at the menu, I saw someone cooking their own steak on a marble slab. Oh that's where they got the name, now I know! I thought it looked fun, so I looked at that section "on the stone" and found tuna with hazelnuts, coriander, and ginger. I love tuna, and this was delicious! I've decided I want to try to recreate this. The food was delicious and the service friendly. I know some people who would turn up their nose at the idea of cooking the food themselves. They paid for someone else to do it, but I enjoyed the novelty of it. I got to cook it as much as I wanted and when I wanted, so I could enjoy the food. Also, it didn't get cold while we enjoyed each other's company.

Fantastic meal had at Rustic Stone. It was our last night in Dublin so i didn't mind spending a little more than i usually would. Enjoyed the novelty of partially cooking my own steak to my own liking on the hot stone, something which i had never done before.
The side of minted peas went very well.
I would definitely recommend this place if you don't mind spending a little more on your meal.
The interior is very clean and well presented and the waiter who served us was very attentive.
P. D.
Yummy food! They gave me vegan options (mostly salads/veggies) but these were yummy and the vegetables used were of top quality. The server was amazing and so nice.

We had a great Sunday afternoon in the rustic stone. We bought a voucher from thetaste that included three courses and a bottle of wine & two cocktails all for just €45. This is good value & rare for Dublin these days. The manager & staff were super attentive & very friendly, both downstairs for dinner and upstairs where we took our cocktails. The only thing that let down the restaurant unfortunately, was the food. I can't help but think that maybe, we made poor choices when choosing!? We both chose the wings, followed by the burger for main & chocolate soup for desert. The wings, although large, were soy & seasame & just didn't sit right, especially when you can get great wings in a multitude of places in Dublin now. I was pretty disappointed they messed these up. The burgers were tasty, but too busy. The beef was tender, but a bit lost within the rocket, friend onions, pickeled cabbage, cheese & a tomato relish. They were served with polenta chips. Not sure why anyone would replace a potato with polenta when considering a chip. Honestly, they just tasted wrong. The chips we chose as a side we're much better though, crispy & fluffy, all at once. Although, these were served with a green pesto & I really don't know why ? It was equally as strange as the polenta chips. The chocolate dessert was a bit of a let down too I'm afraid. A plate was served with a chocolate mousse & then the waiter poured a jug of liquid chocolate generously over each. It looked great! I only wish it tasted as good as it looked. The mousse in the centre was fine and the hazelnuts on top provided some nice texture but couldn't rescue the dish. I'm not sure if the chocolate sauce was cheap chocolate, or something was added to give it some sharpness, but it wasn't right. Finally, we were given a voucher for cocktails upstairs in the Bonsai Bar. It has a really nice vibe & equally nice atmosphere & decor. Would defo return for a drink here. Part of me would love to go back & give the Rustic Stone a second chance, but the other part of my thinks, that if they messed up wings & a burger ?!? It was like they were just trying too hard.

Just wow. It's expensive but if you can pick-up their semi regular dinner for two with a bottle of wine and cocktails from Groupon you should jump on the opportunity
E. Y.
The food is good. Chicken wings are especially delicious. Cooking beef steak on the stone is interesting.
A. L.
Rustic Stone by Dylan McGrath gets everything right. It mixes healthy with delicious impeccably. You are left wanting more even though you couldn't fit in another bite. The staff are wonderful and attentive. The lunch menu is great for little diners to. I would highly recommend Rustic Stone.
H. P.
Lovely friendly service given its a busy night. Steak served on very hot stone to cook to your preference. Unfortunately the chef does not cook it for you. Great hot chocolate....
P. T.
Really great food and reasonable prices, but slow service. Ace drinks!
B. F.
Fantastic food, staff was very attentive and polite. Will definitely visit again.
D. P.
Good food but not impressed. You finish to cook your own meat. Staff are the best there.
D. C.
Food was tasty but on the pricey side. Also bathrooms were not in great condition. Fox red ale was very tasty.
G. L.
Very nice steak! One of the best i had so far in Ireland!
S.
A nice place for a drink or something to eat.
Nice selection of both too. Can't say anything bad about the place
I. N.
Good service. A bit pricey but stellar food. The truffle fries are absolutely fire.
V. K. (. m.
Such a nice place for romantic dinner. The beetroot soup was for die for. They also have some vegans options in the menu. They quite pricy but worth to visit
L. A.
Good restaurant and service. Stone pet was different
P. J.
Tasty food, healthy menu and good value for lunch menu. These pics were from the lunch menu
C. R.
Food: steak on the stone is quite nice, though the polenta chips leave a lot to be desired. The desert menu is terrible as they've decided to lean into a vegan offering.
Price: pretty expensive for fairly standard fare food.
Other: wait staff are nice.
6/10 Recommend.
S. N.
Great food! One of those places you can't go wrong with, if you love steak!
S. M.
Such an amazing experience, lovely staff, lovely atmosphere and mouth watering food!
B. V.
I always eat there when I’m in Dublin, so delicious!
M. B.
Great food and service acceptable price
L. C.
This was fantastic. I had the chicken wings, which were probably the best I've ever had. The meats are served on hot stones, so you have the novelty of cooking your own to your taste. A really varied menu with steaks, fish, burgers and pasta. The beef shin and truffle tagliatelle was divine.
It was a really cool place to eat and had a great drinks menu. I think it suits groups more than couples.
The one downside was that if you can't cook you're going to burn your meat, and that is a lot of smoke.
G. F.
Great food experience, ordered Pork Pappardelle and the pasta was cooked to perfection. Very efficient and attentive floor staff, service was impeccable. Will definitely come back to try more dishes here.
The only detractor was that as they have a steak on a stone option the place can get really stuffy and smokey when everyone is ordering it. That being said the food itself was excellent.
S. K.
Brilliant restaurant. I was here with a large group of my work colleagues. The food was fabulous. Best chicken wings I’ve had. Burgers were fantastic.
The staff looked after us very well.
Bar upstairs very comfy to sit and have a drink before going downstairs.
Would definitely go back.
A. R.
Been here a few times. Great food and lovely cuts of meat served on a 300 degree stone. Would recommend for beef lovers most certainly. The bar above is also good for a cocktail or gin too. Many types available available. :)
C. J.
Lovely lunch here this afternoon. The food was excellent, and I liked that on many dishes there was a large and small option, which were good value as well. The service was great as well. The servers were attentive, polite and friendly without being too 'in-your-face'. We will definitely go back.
B. G.
Rustic Stone has an excellent staff. The moment you walk in the door, they are attentive & helpful. The waiting staff are excellent also. They project competence, a very good knowledge of food & wine. They are efficient, patient, helpful, very pleasent, are very willing to enable the customer to enjoy their food to its full potential. The prices are very reasonable, I would highly recommend the restaurant to others.
C. H.
Probably the best food experience in Dublin. Great Asian fusion and great lively sommelier who really enhances the experience.
G. K.
Amazing food. Try anything from the stone. Great and helpful stuff as well 6/5:D
T. R.
Great tasting food and super quick service. When you order a steak, you get it rare next to a hot stone and have to finish it on there to your liking. This is quite convenient, since so many steaks get overcooked in Ireland! They serve great quality steak and the extras are also matching perfectly with it. I do have to compliment the waiters, since service is quick, friendly and spot on. Only con is the price, since a complete dining experience here will cost you a lot.
M. C.
Rustic stone is great because of it's attention to nutrition and health. It also caters for vegans, veggies, pesketarians, gf.. etc..etc so a wide variety of dish, suiting whichever mood! The food is fresh and beautifully represented and I love the cocktail menu! Ambience was nice, furnishings worked perfectly with the restaurant as did the choice of music. Service was attentive and formal. Look forward to visiting again.
L. J.
Great location in central Dublin and lovely atmosphere in the restaurant.
The food offering is mainly steaks that you cook on the stone or pasta or salads. My steak was very tender. However they were unable to offer gluten free pasta on the night we visited and the salads, although seemed generous mainly consisted of leaves and therefore weren’t very substantial.
The staff were friendly and service was very attentive however little touches such as repacking cuterly between courses and taking coats on arrival were missing which given its price point was disappointing.
R. A.
UPDATE: Over the last year or so the quality of food drastically dropped down. We invited some friends from Italy there, we ordered steaks as usually. The steaks were good as usually but sides were not, especially weirdly thick chips with tones of greasy cheese on top. They ordered tuna salad which size was laughable as it didn’t even look like a starter size when it supposed to be a main dish. They weren’t good neither. Cocktails were not great either.
We observed this drop down for a while. This is sad as it used to be the best place for delicious steaks and cocktails in town. Now it’s just a song of past.
B. L.
Been here three times, steak was excellent each time. During one visit, one of the waiters wasn't really friendly, but I guess everybody can have an off day.
They give you a hot stone so you can cook your steak to your own liking, so if you want the Chef to do all the work, you might want to go somewhere else.
Also keep in mind that great food comes with a hefty price tag.
P. H.
A group of friends had lunch here. Our waiter was not one bit friendly. The food was good. The chicken wings were amazing. The steaks could have done with some additional garnishes. We sat outside after lunch and had some drinks but again the waiters were not friendly there either. We felt that once we had paid for our food that we were just in the way. We were all very disappointed with our experience
D. M.
Wings and steak were top quality. However the dessert of chocolate soup was a bit too strong and dark. Ambience upstairs in cocktail bar mesmerizing. Service lacked a bit of attention but okay overall. Would definitely return
E. H.
Quite pricey but still worth to check it out...especially when you're into steaks...
g. b.
I've been there with my family few weeks ago and we found a lovely atmosphere. The guy serving us was looking after any minimal detail. The steak was just delish ;) although the dessert wasn't one of my favorite
N. P.
Excellent food with strong carnivorous bias. Stones good for keeping steak hot. Restaurant itself and upstairs bar area have a good ambience. Service good but slow. They endured our late departure with stoicism.
J. G.
Eating here was a happy little accident. My wife and I were in Dublin for one night and did a quick internet search for good places to eat. We had no idea what this place was, just that it had good ratings. We were surprised to find out that they bring your food out with a very hot 'rustic stone' so that you can cook your meat right there at the table. Super fun, and super delicious! Definitely worth a visit!
F. G.
A bit pricey but great. Staff was extremely helpful. For the people getting the Halibut on the rock listen to the instructions. Remove fish from stone, cut piece of fish, put back in stone and cook to your liking. I am guessing steaks follow the same instructions. Overall it was great.
D. S.
Awesome!
Service A+
food A+
drink range A+
Chicken wings to die for!
Steak on stone to die for
In other words highly recommended and if returning to Dublin we will be visiting this one again that's for sure.
Keep it up, well Done!
E. K.
Amazing foods, reasonable price, friendly! Highly recommend!!
O. O. B.
It's ok, I had the steak on a stone. For something that should be simple and rustic its overly complex, there's way too much going on. I would suggest have steaks just seasoned without the toppings and offer a choice of dip/sauce. The pesto chips are good.
P. F.
Visited upstairs for the Taste at Rustic option. Excellent food, staff were informative and welcoming. Has a great atmosphere, bustling but with the staff in absolute control. Food here always an interesting experience , the highlight being the beautiful cuts of meat served on coals at your table. A real treat of the senses
P. B.
Very nice and unusual/unexpected combinations of flavours in the 'raw dishes'. The meat was very tender. Tables however, were not all too spacious...
Overall it is definitely one of Dublin's finest but do not expect the traditional Restaurant atmosphere.
S.
Great steak! People need to stop complaining about the prices, it's a celebrity chef restaurant, it is to be expected...
C. Q.
This restaurant is Awesome. The place in itself is very nicely decorated, with a feel of Art Deco. We were greeted very kindly, and got glass of wine at the bar while we waited for our table.
The food is excellent, the quality of the products is incredible. The pieces of meat we got were amazing, and the volcanic stone to cook it was a lot of fun.
IT's definitely not the cheapest restaurant in Dublin, but it really is worth it. I will surely go again.
G. K.
Excellent food with high prices to match. Steak was delicious but when asked to choose a side make sure you check the prices as these are not included in the steak prices ie €34 will get you the steak on the stone without the side orders which start at €5 up...also asked for tap water but charged again for a jug of it €2.50. The milk was sour for the tea, second pot of tea the same they kept bringing out the same batch of milk, third time lucky milk was fine. Tea was complimentary.
J. O.
Stunning food with great service here. Had a group of 50. Everyone was raving about it. Service was quick with no decrease in quality. Staff were very friendly and efficient. Would highly recommend.
A. H. F.
Another great meal in Rustic Stone. We have been here numerous occasions and we are never disappointed. My husband is a big fan of the fish and chicken wings .I love the fact that you can go out for a meal and still eat healthy .We have always found the staff to be friendly and courteous. Looking forward to going back.
M. D.
A reference in Dublin if you want a good steak. Great atmosphere and staff, very well located. Good meat restaurant in Dublin, very well located. Go there for the meat as I was not impressed by the salad menu. The meat cooking is an experience by itself.
R. S.
One of the best in town... amazing food, with flavors from all around the world. Service is superb, and the visual design of the place is very calming and nice. the best hamburger I have ever tasted, ands amazing starters.
You must try the staff's suggestions of red wine...
D. I.
The food was nice but I only went here because we got a pretty good deal (I think on taste.ie) for 2 people, 3 courses, 2 cocktails and 1 bottle of wine (you could only choose between white or red and the red was terrible, no excuse). Other than that it was pretty decent.
A. P.
First time for Valentines day 2017. You order your food and if there is meat in your dish, you also get a very hot stone to cook your meat on it the way that pleases you! Staff is very nice but you could feel the stress of a Valentines day. We arrived without a booking and still managed to get a lovely spot downstairs. Give it a try, it's a nice experience.
J.
For what you get, it is overpriced. Not very impressed with the waitress who seemed to be annoyed when asked question. However, she was extremely nice to my friend, who is a regular since she became vegan.. The portion is super tiny.
A dessert at nearly €10, I was expecting something fabulous..gosh, I was dreaming!
Will I go back? Not sure...cause I left feeling very hungry
M. B.
Love this place. Come here for the food AND the experience. It's an absolute delight and if you're at all into steak, make sure you order than and cook it yourself on the stone. Everything from cocktails, wine, apps, mains and desserts were stellar!
T. W.
The appetizers were really good (chicken wings were awesome) and the halibut on the hot stone was alright. The dishes that other people in my party had looked equally appealing (especially as the burgers). The venue itself is quite cool, and spreads across several floors.
M. S.
We found this walking around the city. While nicely decorated and a great staff, we were confused by the menu. We landed on pasta penne for our 12 yr old which was very good and split the glamburgers and a pesto salad for the parents. The salad was huge and the mini burgers tall - both were quite good. Thiye food we ordered was excellent but only 4 stars overall as we got twisted up in the menu for quite a while as the options were complicated. Recommend - yes.
P. K.
Oh am 67 years of age and I never ever had such a gastronomic experience. We are still raving about it. And everything about it. Can't begin to differentiate between the courses. Sooooo good. Service and staff so helpful too. We'll be back.
V. B.
Very good selection on the menu. The food and concept of cooking your own food is really interesting. However, the staff can be quite rude at times.
P. F.
Probably the best Steak I’ve ever had. Beautiful sides which are not just like any other restaurant. A little bit drafty and a bit over priced, but well worth a visit.
M. F.
We barely got a table here for two on a thursday night. The place was really packed.
The menu is quite simple, they have a bunch of cuts of meat and some fish. As we had eaten quite some meat already in dublin we went for the fish, halibut and tuna.
The preparation is fairly simple across the board. They grill it slightly, bring it on a hot stone to the table, and you can finish it there to your liking. The quality of the food was astounding, I would have loved to try their meat as well, it looked amazing.
P. F.
Delicious! We are only in Dublin 3 days and I'd be happy to eat here every meal. They have wonderful, healthy options as well as something for anyone looking to indulge. I can't say enough about this place!!
F. R.
Beetroot salad was grear!! There's too much steak smell though, but I don't know if there's much they can do about it
C. P.
Nice food service great only 1 thing I dislike Food is always lukewarm
J. T.
Best Restaurant in Dublin I have been to in a long time, had Sunday lunch there, to start I had the quail de-lish and cooked perfectly, for main course I had the fillet steak on the stone was like butter so tender and the mushrooms and Onion topping the steak was tainted with brandy I think.
The restaurant was very busy and there was a great atmosphere, waiting staff very professional and the manager on duty even came over to ask if everything was to our liking. The Parmesan chips are massive and I am not sure what the dip was but it was very smooth and creamy, Oh and you must try the rocket and orange salad massive portion and very refreshing, could be a meal in its self.
We did not have desert as the portions were so big, very nice change from the norm, well worth a visit.
S. D.
Very nice cozy atmospehere and I had the best minnestrone soup even though I am not a big fun of it. The service is fast as well and dont forget to try the burgers.
Our waiter is one of the best too and his name is Ramunas..
S. B.
Great food. Staff friendly but they seem disorientated. Tables are very tight together.....not a good place if you want to get intimate with your date. We c oiuld literally hear pour neighbours conversation. However we really enjoyed our expensive. Ita pricey but worth it .
W. B.
We had a great night at this Dublin city restaurant, the food was very good atmosphere and service was efficient but not rushed, and the staff very friendly and courteous. The steak on the stone was a real treat and the orange and pecan nut salad was a big hit with all on the table. Only downfall was the time we could book the table at as they were very busy and fully booked Online from 7 pm - 8.30 pm, will return again to one of the best restaurants in Dublin I have visited in ages.
L. M.
The selling point here is that the steaks are served on a super heated stone that enables you to cook it to liking. The steak came pretty much as I like it (as pictured) so didnt need much more cooking as far as I was concerned!
D. P.
My gf and a friend and I came here for dinner before going to a theatre and I have to say the service was impeccable. The staff where helpful and checked regularly we had everything we needed. We had steak and champagne in the sun outside and it was beautiful. A huge thank you to all the staff for an amazing experience. 😁
E. V.
A hot stone. A delicious piece of meat or fish, that you can take off or put on again, depending on how well done you want it. Sides to die for, including truffle Parmesan fries.
Great service, good drinks, and a hefty bill to top it off. But totally worth it. Totally.
N. B.
Food is good for sure but dealing with the stream j and trying to cook it yourself is just messy. You end up overcooking your steak, not talking to people as you try cook your meal.
The service is not great. For example we order a bottle of wine that never showed up, we were still billed for it when eventually we could get someone to bring us our bill.
D. A.
In Dublin on business, place came highly recommended. Sat downstairs in a dead part of the restaurant, so not much atmosphere. Chicken wings were exceptional, but the prawn lollipops and sides were nothing special. Strong 3 out of 5.
R. F.
We had a voucher from TheTaste.ie so it was great value. Might be expensive otherwise. The service was jovial, attentive and flawless throughout the evening even though it was busy. The food was absolutely delicious. They've taken such great care with the dishes to cook them in a healthy way. It just goes to show you don't need to put butter and/or cream into everything to make it taste good. Hats off to Dylan McGrath and his staff at the Rustic Stone. Best evening we've had in a while. We'll be back.
A. A.
Good food, fun way to eat!
D. M.
The food here is great. Everything is organic, fresh and with a healthy bias ( superfoods are the order of the day).
Steak on a stone as you might expect is particularly good.
The venue itself is nothing special and the staff exude a kind of ' aren't you lucky to be here' vibe.
Arrived here with my pregnant wife 5 minutes before opening and was told to take a walk and come back.. 5 mins later we arrive back and several tables had been seated in the meantime .
Lovely food, the place just needs to get over it's trendy self and it'll be worth returning to.
M. F.
The staff are amazing and the atmosphere is fantastic. Good steak, but not as good as the best in the business (FX Buckley's). Dylan McGrath appears to have a Donald Trump-like opinion of himself, the wording of the menu is pretty awful. People want to go to a restaurant to eat, not to hear your personal opinions on the food.
A. L.
Not my type of food, but millenials seem to love it. Too many sauces and too complex cousine for my 65yo taste. That being said the service, drinks and atmosphere are excellent.
T. G.
Great food in general as well as good place for a company night out.
What wasn't great however:
- tempura starter was over crunchy parts too hard to bite, chew.
- the floor downstairs was very slippy likely due to grease.
- rest rooms are that of a busy pub on Friday night.
E. C.
Nice experience for first time stone cooking. Delicious steak, tender and juicy. Unlike the standard peppercorn sauce style, the flavour of the steak comes out, so the sauce isnt as needed. Sides ordered separate
J. C.
I have a love/hate relationship with Rustic Stone. The food is consistently good - I'd highly recommend the quail starter and the venison on the stone for a main when it's in season. The oval table downstairs is the best table in the house so ask for that when booking.
However avoid coming here as part of a large group. We had my aunt's 60th birthday here with 20 people and the service was the worst I've experienced in Dublin. In contrast to this, anytime I've dined here with just a few people the service has been excellent.
Tip: Be careful going down the stairs! When my friend arrived at the restaurant, the stairs was wet and she slipped and fell. The management didn't apologise or offer any empathy - it was very poor form.
So I've experienced a mix of highs and lows in this restaurant but the food and good prices will keep me coming back.
E. Y.
Been here a couple of times now. Enjoyed cooking meat on the stone, and also had a good experience with some of the sliders they offered. Just be prepared for the smoke and cooking odor you might leave the restaurant with, which is to be expected if you are cooking meat on a stone at your table!
M. B.
It’s a bit pricey for what it is.
The restaurant is owned by a famous Irish chef, one of a couple of his restaurants in town, and in my opinion attracts attention for that reason.
You will end up paying a considerable amount for what I consider an average meal.
k. b.
Found this place while looking to get out of the rain, and what a find! Food was amazing, the menu doesn't do the dishes justice! Staff attentive too, very friendly

For some reason I thought I had already reviewed Rustic Stone, but it seems not! So, here is my belated review. Rustic Stone is one of Dylan Mc Grath's restaurant's, and is located in George's Street in Dublin City center, making it easily accessible, and especially if like myself, you attend concerts in the Olympia or Vicar Street, it is just a walk away from both venues.
I first ate at Rustic Stone on what is probably one of the busiest nights for any restaurant, Valentine's night. I had no idea what to expect. I knew the menu was a set menu for the night. What I had, was not a nice meal in a restaurant, but an absolute eating experience!! I have eaten in some reasonable places before, but Rustic Stone takes eating to a whole new level. It was extraordinary value for money considering the diversity and quality of food on offer. At no point did the staff appear under pressure, while paying attention to everyone's needs, and with a distinct level of subtlety.
The food was exquisite, and the experience of using the cooking stone, was simply fantastic.
I have returned to Rustic Stone a number of times since then, particularly for their great value lunch menu. While some items can seem a bit expensive, there is great value in set menu options, and once you taste the food, you will know the prices are full value for what you get. This is one restaurant I would highly recommend you visit.
C. M.
The quality of the meal was only surpassed by the excellent staff. Our waiter Daniel was fantastic in every way, he couldn't do enough to help us for the whole night! Well worth a visit.
J. B.
Not cheap but definitely worth the experience. Great service. Obviously you have to try the steak (you cook it on a stone to your liking) and as others mentioned the truffle chips are yummy.
B. H. C.
Good food and good service. But menu falls on the pricey side of things. Not great value. Still worth a visit as a once off experience, steaks on the stone are good and is something different worth trying out.

Disappointing. The goods points first. The staff were friendly & excellent & the wine was delicious. Some of the sides were interesting & tasty but the main courses left a lot to be desired. I had the rolls royce steak and unfortunately it was mediocre at best. If you are looking for an excellent & tasty steak I would recommend L'Gueuleton on Fade Street or Mastersons in Swords. Another in our party had the tuna steak and it was good but not out of this world. The last member of our party had the sirloin steak and she was very happy with it.
So my first time at Rustic Stone and given it's reputation I was expecting more.
M. A.
Fantastic food. Everything our table of 8 ordered was delicious! Their downstairs is great for large groups.
R.
Always love a visit to this uber cool eatery! How can you improve a visit here? Get a mothers day meal for free. Whoever said there's no such thing as a free lunch was wrong!!
Z.
Dylan McGrath's food is imaginatively designed and full of theatrical flourish: fresh fish and steaks arrive, still cooking, on chunky stones that are searingly hot and obsidian black. The meals are riots of flavour and surprise: baked apple with cinnamon, sultanas and vanilla ice cream might sound a little hearth and home, but it steals the show- a burst of autumnal colour, that's 'snipped' open to release it from the warmth of its parcel. Tuna steak is extraordinary- tender, fresh and melt-in-your-mouth goddam good. I could go on, but you get the picture. Enjoy.
A. P.
Excellent food; lots of original and imaginative combinations of ingredients. and a really nice place for a night out in Dublin. Also terrific cocktails!
T. M.
Service and food were on point.
The tempura salmon could have done with a bit more sauce however. Was a bit dry and the shiitake chutney didnt quite suffice to offset it. Still tasty however, just a bit dry.
P. B.
We booked for dinner at 8.45pm and received our main course at 10.45pm - it was just too late.
The reservation was on the eve of a big rugby match, so the restaurant was super busy, but at this price (very expensive) you should get what you bargain for and we did not.
The food was fine, if you like a cook it yourself experience.
V. K.
I visited Rustic last week with a friend for an early dinner and we absolutely loved it! The food was delicious, I really enjoyed the Superfood Salad and tuna on the stone. We will definitely return for more healthy food in the near future.
A. O.
We were a table of 8 and reserved early to try the sharing menu.
Overall experience: I want to go back, it was delicious.
Some more details:
- Positives: everything! Delicious food, interesting seasonings, good presentation.
- Extra deliciousness points for having Priorat wines and for the shared meat stone.
- Pet hates: when 4 people share an appetizer platter of bread and dips... give them 4 grissini, not 2! Specially if said grissini are particularly delicious: we were politely breaking little pieces away like shy hungry birds.
- The cocktails issue: extra points for having alcohol free cocktails (we had 2 pregnant women and one non-drinker) and more extra points for letting us overstay our slot. But all these extra points get cancelled because the cocktails were not nice at all: far too sweet and clogging. Maybe next time the barman will be more inspired.
G. P.
They are kind and the food really good
E. R.
Thought it was an odd approach at first, serve me raw meat with a hot stone. Ended up being great! You cut your raw meat and cook the pieces on the hot stone to your liking and get a perfect hot and juicy steak with every bit. Loved it!
S. P.
We had very good food and extremely kind waitstaff. The location is very near to major tourist attractions but this isn't an unexciting tourist mill type of place. Highly recommend!
P. B.
We arrived late (it was a Sunday and everywhere had shut early) but were found a table anyway. The menu was simply amazing, and everything we had was exquisite. A little more expensive than we'd normally pay, but well worth it which is what's important I guess. We'll definitely be going back next time we're in Dublin!
s. r.
Lovely place and the hot stone dishes are to die for. Salad bowls are huge .This place is on the expensive side but would say its worth it. Decor ia also nice.
S. O.
The service was excellent, the cocktails delish but overpriced. The Beef shin was melt in your mouth but needed seasoning, and truffle tagliatelle was amazing. I would recommend a visit.
L. W.
Went for a christmas lunch. The food was burnt and customer service was dreadful. According to other people's reviews, it supposed to be very good .. probably because we were lunch and not dinner
m.
Starters, mains and wine really really delicious. Desserts were a total let down - ordered 3 different desserts at our table and all werr not appetising. Pity because the rest was so good.
T. V. B. (. V. B.
Expensive but very tasty! The meat is cooked on hot stone at the table. You control how well done it is cooked. Everyone at our table loved their meal.
b.
Place with excellent food, in beginning I was disappointed because they gave me table in witch I couldn't fit, but with mild complaint they gave me other. Stuff is very professional and kind. Not five stars because they can't offer table with no space to fit in.
t. p.
One of our favourite places for date night or just a dinner. Great steaks, chicken wings, and my cherry on the cake is their chocolate soup ❣👍
C. S.
Worth trying but definitely overrated! Service is good, though some waiters can be quite unfriendly. Food is average (nice to cook the meat on the stone, but salads and sides have nothing special).
P. D.
Steak was nice but small and very overpriced for a non fillet cut (€31). Also it came with nothing else on the plate, sides were extra.
S. c.
Myself and my fiancée both live in America - each Christmas we come home to Dublin to visit family. We have made it our tradition to go to the Rustic Stone to get a bottle of Pinot Noir and share the TBone for Two Steak! It is phenomenal and we have such a fantastic time - highly recommend everything about the place 👌⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
M. S.
Top class. I enjoyed the place, the company. Everything. The food was good. The service good too. Recommend for good time. They accommodated ladies..
K. S.
Absolutely transcendent. Started with the crab toast. Herb selection on that was amazing. Then had the filet with the side Mediterranean salad of tomato and avocado. Strawberry w lime foam dessert. The flavors are so fresh and present on the pallet, and the ingredients so pure... as a not too often steak/beef eater I often feel a bit loagy post steak. Not here. Uplifted in spirit and body. A must try in Dublin. Hats off to chef Dylan.
G. H.
Very tasty. If booking in advance maybe ask to be seated upstairs.
Downstairs feels a bit cramped and like a canteen.
Can't complain about the food or service though
P. M. S.
If you want a really enjoyable eating experience, The Rustic Stone in Georges St on the Southside is the place. Great for a group get together. Entertaining as well as enjoyable, plus top quality food.
D. S.
Food really good, staff absolutely fantastic, Gins really outstanding the only issue I have is my wife and I were celebrating our wedding anniversary and the group of 5 young ladies at the table in the corner were seriously loud and at times obnoxious 3 pairs of guests left apon hearing their noise I thought the staff could maybe ask them to tone it down we felt very uncomfortable to say the least
E. J.
Lovely atmosphere, very nice staff and great food. Service was good. Tables a little close together.
G. U.
I really like the concept of having this hot stone and cook your own meat/sea food. However, do not hesitate for a hotter stone when yours is not hot anymore, because it can ruin the end of your meal!
Also : it is quite expensive
m. j.
Consistency amazing!!!!! One of my all time fav spots in dublin
M. D.
Good meat restaurant in Dublin, very well located. Go there for the meat as I was not impressed by the salad menu. The meat cooking is an experience by itself.
D. F.
Fantastic food at prices that are a bit above average but worth it. The raw food options are definitely worth trying and for those non-carnivores out there, the tuna served on the hot stone is as good as the steaks.
T. O.
One of Dublin's best restaurants in my opinion. The food is excellent, tasty and good value. Steak on the stone is great but the tagliatelle takes some beating.
K. S.
Lovely restaurant fabulous food the staff are extremely helpful and friendly. Great evening had by all. would definitely recommend rustic stone for a great night out.
A. N.
One of the best places to eat in Dublin city centre. Near temple bar and close to stephens green. Top restaurant in Dublin for steak, seafood and healthy options. Lucky to have such good restaurants near me. Try the steak on the stone :)
D. D.
Not the cheapest place in town, but the quality almost justifies it.
Took the Rolls Royce of Sirloin, and am quite happy about it.
However, be aware of the fact that you clothes smell bad afterwards do to the steak stones (which is the downside of this awesome concept!)
I. N.
Great food served in unique way. Fantastic staff who took time to explain menu to those less experimental.
E. G.
Simply the best dining experience in dublin. Best wings in town. Superb steak. Waiters so helpful and knowledgeable. Can't recommend enough
M. N.
Very good although we have asked for a small salad and receive a big one that was put in the bill, when i explained at the end the problem the women that it is always there told the waiter :Next time stay focused!😂
P. C.
Delicious fresh food you need to be okay with cooking your meat or fish on a stone as the title suggests great casual dinning with a twist.
o. c.
Had a very nice dinner here with my wife. it was busy so we moved to the bar upstairs. Good food, good cocktails, good staff = good night out
S. C.
Fantastic dinner and very friendly staff. I definitely recommend this place if you're looking for a great and tasty meal. :)
M. S.
Nice place, clean, great food.
L. T.
Delicious meat and fish, which you can cook yourself on a hot stone (hence the name) for a different night out. The cocktails are top-notch and the chocolate soup is to die for.
J. W.
Fantastic food
Pricey
Book upstairs at “the taste” Asian Fusion
Stunning
Both high end but worth the price
Book and make sure you don’t get a table near the door ( if your downstairs)
There is also a bar on the mid floor which it’s worth booking for before/ after your dinner
R. O.
Really cool spot. Came here and got a fillet. It was an experience cooking it in the block to your desired level. Good wine selection and overall service.
J. W.
Good gluten free options. Lovely food
C. M.
We enjoyed the food here. Steak was great and the baba ganoush served with the bread was exotic and interesting.
Staff were very attentive and helpful.
A. K.
Fancy place and high prices but it worth it! Servers are nice. High quality food great cocktails and atmosphere:)
U. d.
Great meat at very expensive prices but really good.
Worth to try even the simple hamburger, very tasty, or a rare beef steak. Recommended with a strong flavoured red wine.
J. v. L.
One of my all-time favourite restaurants .... Best salads ever for me and great meat and fish options for the others
X. T.
Good overall but overrated & very expensive
A. J.
Burger was massive could not finish it. Trendy atmosphere and crowd. Reasonable prices for Dublin. Lovely staff and good service
K. R.
Had a small team dinner here for work. Food was wonderful, drinks were abundant, service was attentive.
D. D.
Best Food I have ever tasted try the steak on the stone with orange salad, Try and sit upstairs thou as there is a great atmosphere staff very friendly and explained the menu to us, Great Healthy Restaurant in Dublin Georges Street
B. G.
Expensive place that is however worth every Euro. Amazing beef options, great wines and a really nice atmosphere make this one of Dublin's top steak places.
s. o.
This was our 1st visit, average food for above average prices. Trading on his name. We were put at a table with a pillar in between considering we booked in advance should have been given better table. Very disappointed.
C. G.
Loved it. Service was fast and friendly, lively ambiance, and I thought my good was delicious. Would recommend and would go back again.
N. L.
Excellent deconstructive cuisine with xook your own steak approach. Have to pay for it of course a good amount. Good vegetarian options as well.
Z. E.
Loved it, really good food
A. O.
Top notch food, everything was delish, good wine too and really friendly service, cocktails afterwards upstairs in the bar was a nice touch too.
M. C.
Good food, good vibe. The decor is a bit jaded but maybe that's what they were goi g for. We were downstairs. Upstairs would have been nicer.
P. C.
Having just revisited I've changed my mind, I have to say i was impressed, starter "CUBES OF MELON POACHED IN PICKLED GINGER SYRUP" the main "PENNE PESTO" both delicious, dessert "CHOCOLATE SOUP WITH CHOCOLATE MOUSSE" was a little much for me (could be just because I'm not use to 3 course)
J. H.
I cannot fault this place, great staff, great location, a fine choice of beverages. Lovely bar upstairs to have pre dinner drink.
P. E.
Nice place, some good food on the menu, shame about the table layout, far too cramped, detracts from a quality meal when you can smell the person next to you because they are less than 2 very away
P. P.
Interesting cozy place. Food is good and service super fast. Only negative being a little noisy. Priced reasonably.
D. O.
The best place to eat in Dublin. Everything we eat was fantastic: chicken wings, pasta with pesto and the salads.
D. D.
Amazing steak if you’re looking for good meat tasting that’s the right place. I strongly suggest to book in advance
R. D.
Expensive for what you get. Hamburger was ok and sides were forgettable.
Lots of better value for money to be had in Dublin these days
B. V.
A lot of people have raved to me about this place, so I was a little dissapointed. It's ok. Not terrible but not great. I'd go back if it was cheaper, but at their prices, I wouldnt really be pushed.
L. K.
Extremely over priced, for what you get. I won't go back nor would I recommend it. Keep your money and head to a more sophisticated restaurant in town.
S. B.
Very good food and nice atmosphere. The staff was especially friendly as well, but that's to be expected in Dublin.... I love this city!
M. P. D.
Great atmosphere. Very good good food. Good value. Go there again. Lovely staff.
b. s.
Steak on the stone was incredible and they had a great selection of wines! Loved the atmosphere and is in a convenient location.
A. O.
Amazing meat and friendly staff. A bit cumbersome to eat. I didn't really feel like I had enough space on my table for the hot stones, plates, salad etc.
P.
Good food and very nice waiters. Very crowded and noisy. Therefore 4 out of 5 stars.
W. C.
Been.many times. Can't say enough about this place. It's a tastbud explosion. Very creative dishes made by Dylan McGrath. Highly recommended.
S.
I'm talking about the Bar at Rustic. This is a kind of lounge bar with wines and cocktails which are well made and really good. A bit pricey but it is good products they use.
P. W.
It was a bit hit and miss........my main course of steak was good but my partners prawns were nothing special.
M. K.
It's a sin to visit Dublin and not to try a steak here. Should be a must. Very nice staff and amazing food.
A. L.
My tuna on a stone and Catalan dessert were one of the best dishes I had in my life.
M. M.
One of the best restaurants in Ireland also amazing staff Definitely go you will be very happy
M. W.
Great meat. Very pricey though.
E. H.
Awesome restaurant. Delicious food and reasonably priced. Excellent service and a really lovely vibe!
A. D.
One of the best steaks I've ever tasted. A little bit pricey but well worth it
M. K.
Excellent food & great service at a reasonable price, what more could anyone ask for, burgers are absolutely delicious.
E. M.
Good service, tables are a bit small. If you like your steak rare the 'stone' part of the meal is bit unnecessary
J. K.
Amazing steak right in the middle of Dublin
j. f.
Had veggie meal here which was lovely, only a few options for veggies. However lovely decor and atmosphere
.
T. R.
Can't get on your website - Chrome says it uses outdated security - I think it needs updating!
H. T.
Amazing steaks. Android Pay works here with visa but amex doesn't work -- you need to swipe and sign for amex.
J. M.
We had a great dinner, though service took a while. Very unique place.
M. B.
Top class, great steaks served on the stone. Nice and attentive service

A. P.
Nice place with more than decent food priced at the higher end of its category. Very fast service. Would reccomend.
F. F.
One of my favorite places to eat in Dublin. I would call it a dining experience rather than just a restaurant
n. b.
Food was good. But mist the welcome feeling. Many arguments on the floor between manager and staff
S. U.

m. a.
crazy and delightful experience
g. m.
Great food locally sourced. Good atmosphere. Polenta chips are a must-have.
M. D.
High quality but at a cost, that is to say no one seems happy you're there. Quality food that is passed out begrudgingly.
A. J. (. J.
Place is beautiful and food is nice, but it is way too expensive and I don't think that the prices are justifiable.
M. S.
The place looks nice, service was great but all the burgers we ordered were really dry and the choice of vegies only made it worse.
J. M.
pricey food, but well sourced, and definitely worth it. Excellent menu, quickly prepared, with knowledgeable staff!
N. M.
Pretty good food and fun setup where you get a hot stone and cook the meat yourself. Slightly pricey for what it is.
P. W.
Lunch bowl was very average with almost no dredding for the salad.
A. I.
Highly recommended place in Dublin. Very nice food and decent value when we wend. I'd certainly go back.

a. j.

G. H.
Superb food, good wine and amazing cocktails.
