Outstanding Christmas night out.
Never thought of going here before a concert as we are usually last minute arrivals for shows and the restaurant is sort of inconspicuous in the grandeur of arriving at the NCH. Myself and my wife arrived at 5:30pm ahead of a 7:30pm Swingin' Christmas concert. The restaurant was quiet at this time but I'm glad we arrived when did as we had loads of time to chat, digest and soak up the atmosphere as the restaurant filled up. In fact it felt like we had two great nights out as the Christmas concert was one of the best we've attended there. We ate in the room in the back of the restaurant which is covered in the photos and autographs of past NCH performers which together with the beautiful old building makes it a wonderful atmosphere to eat in.
Like all good pre-theatre menus it's designed for quick service so you can eat and make your show in good time. I had the boar terrine with thin sourdough toast, she had pumpkin soup and there was as much delicious homemade bread for the table as you liked, careful you don't fill up! For main I had wonderful Sea trout in a stew of butter beans with chorizo which was very fresh and again a first for me. She had the Beef cheek which I tasted and was excellent, I would probably order that next time. I went for the steamed christmas pudding which was a real winner and she had the panna cotta. It was lovely to experience such a seasonal menu from start to finish.
We had a wonderful young server who was years above his age in his manners and professionalism. Great job to the very friendly manager, kitchen staff and servers. We'll definitely be back for future concerts.

Great for short business lunches and pre-concert meals. Unpretentious but consistently good quality and value for money. I use this cafe regularly for this reason.

Tasty main course served promptly without fuss, lovely seasonal dessert and fine cappuccino, together with a nice atmosphere all add up to a good lunch.

I love this place for its location and views overlooking Dun Laoghaire harbour and marina. I had a nice tea there - has nothing to tell about food as I didnt try it. Staff is quick and welcoming. You can have a very romantic time there thanks to location. Oh yes i was sitting outside terrace, not inside. Inside was crowded. Romantic: bring your girl or your fella to meditate on the views.
