F. O.Stopped in on a Sunday post brunch pre-dinner. An excellent location and very pleasant interior with a good bar and excellent service. Had a soup, salad and a coffee. Food albeit simple was excellent the owner was very accommodating in giving a bit of history on the building and service was friendly, efficient and just very pleasant. Will be back for dinner as the place has a great reputation just tends to be busy. A highlight was the fixed price options as it can be difficult to get value in Dublin, you will find it here along with a real fire!

If I were to have one complaint it would be the music, it can be really loud and not the type of music I want to listen to in a restaurant, but it's a small price to pay for fantastic food and very friendly welcoming staff.

P. R.Great place. Lovely decor. Cosy and stylish. Friendly staff. I had the three course lunch for €22. Chorizo and prawn risotto to start. Great flavor, very satisfying, good portion size. I had the confit duck as the main. Really tasty duck and the sauce on the plate was absolutely delicious but apart from the duck leg there wasn’t much veg and really the main wasn’t big enough to make me full. Anticipating this I had ordered a side of potatoes but there was a mix up and it didn’t arrive until I was finishing my main. However, when the bill arrived they didn’t charge for the late side order so I thought that was very fair of them to do that without my having to ask them to. For desert I had the chocolate mouse which was really good. Overall I would definitely recommend trying this place. Aside from the high quality and good price of the food the feeling of the restaurant is brilliant. Lots of vintage movie posters on the wall. It’s a really nice space. Enjoy..

The duck parfait is one of the best dishes I’ve ever had and every main I’ve tried has been fantastic.
Although they have a heavy curtain around the doors to prevent any draft bothering you, the waitress gave us a free cocktail to make up for being sat next to the door. Looking forward to it reopening ASAP

D.Had dinner and drinks , amazing service so friendly , food and drinks were delicious , unaware how to spell the waitors name but he was older and briliant , along with the manager I believe the other was. So accommodating to my friend who was ceoliac , especially after we walked away from another restaurant whos waitor was not bothered to even try cater for my friend , even by iniative to discuss with chef. Memorable service highly reccomend this place ! They even brought out olives while we waited for food which was a really nice gesture (even though we don't like olives but all good intent, we were all laughing 😂) definitely worth a visit 👍👍

A. W.My favorite place to dine I'm usually with my girlfriends however was there last night with hubby for his birthday. Hadn't been there since prior lockdown in early December. Staff were as always so attentive. And if you want your steak rare it'll be rare. So I recommend the green hen for lush food.. John and Annmarie Meath 😎👍

Not just the regular single vegan option that most resteraunts have. I ordered butternut squash with mushrooms and vegan parmesan. I tasted divine. I found everything good for value aswell.
The service was amazing. The place was packed when I arrived and the food still came promptly and I never had to try and get a waiters attention, the staff were all brilliant.
I will definitly come back and bring my friends with me. I have a large group of vegan vegetarian friends that I will be recommending this establishment to. There are alot of new places in Dublin for vegan food but not many are fine dining. As a classy restaurant the green hen would be ideal for family dinners and events as it meets all dietary requirements with variety.

The setting and interior were lovely. They created a really cool atmosphere.

Overall a very tasty and pleasant meal but there will be other restaurants I'll go back to first.
S. S.Three stars for last night’s experience at The Green Hen. Beautiful, cozy brasserie, great ambiance. Do try and make a reservation if you want to sit at a table. My appetizer was great and my main was quite good. Well cooked and great presentation. The only downer was the gentleman behind the bar who was serving us. Looked completely disinterested in taking care of us in any way. Zero greeting, didn’t ask if the food was ok, we had to ask for more wine, etc, etc, etc. I thanked him about 4 times for clearing plates, bringing wine, etc and not a smile or a word of response from him. You are in the hospitality business my friend - a little genuine kindness and interest in your guests goes a long way.
With the right server, we would have had a 4 or 5 star evening but our friend’s lack of enthusiasm brings it in at a 3. Sad.
A. B.We stumbled on this little gem of a place by accident on Saturday evening, despite being busy we managed to get a table. Menu was a food lovers delight, everything from Pheasant and Duck to old favourites pork chop or chicken. Prawn starter was delicious mains were beautifully presented and tasted as good as they looked. Staff were extremely pleasant and helpful and special shout out to the manager who was called in on his night off to save the show. We will definitely be back x

T. L.This is our 2nd year having Christmas lunch here and unfortunately will be our last. Last year was brilliant, with good food and great service. The food is little more mediocre this year but still generally OK but the service has gone downhill.
Service was haphazard and orders kept getting missed; there appears to be a “silent disagreement” between the bartender and our waitress as well which everyone at our table noticed.
Wine was extortionate with the cheapest glass being €9… definitely will be hunting for a different place next year.

A. P.Amazing service and food! The first time I went I ordered a specific type of meat and asked it blue, as a result a lot of the fat didn't melt so I had a lot of left over. The waitress asked kindly if I didn't like it, I just advised of the fat and that I was very happy with the taste. She came back after consulting with the Chef and explained to me in great detail why there was fat and what type of meat might suit better for blue cooking. They also decided to offer us the dessert (table of 3) to make up for the food I didn't eat. There was absolutely no obligations for us to do so, it was my mistake originally, but they did. Extremely polite and warm waiting staff. We were delighted and left 30 euros tip. The food was also to die for.

R. L.Lovley little restaurant nestled in the heart of the city. Friendly staff greet you as you walk in the door. Vintage decor. Although I can't really fault the restaurant itself the food left me a little disappointed I was recommended by the waiter to try the burger but it left me with a very dry taste in my mouth, it wasn't even average. It was like something you would make on a barbeque at home, very plain in appearance and taste. But I will say the Mac n cheese side and the courgette fritters were to die for.

The rest of the service had a similar ambivalence - delays in receipt of menus both for dinner and dessert, mistake around request for no sauce on a dish with response being the offer of a new plate to put food on etc. Given the price point of this restaurant, I would expect better and will not e going back.

The food was on the whole ok but nothing to write home about. The octopus and scallop starter was a little low on flavor. I had the hake dish as my main course. This one was pretty good (nice, fluffy fish), but the sides we ordered were quite disappointing (soggy fries, oily onion rings, insipid carrots). I had the champagne mojito cocktail, which was a bit watery for my taste. Overall not a bad place, but one that just did not match the expectations I had built up from seeing it recommended by various people.

We went here in the recommendation of a N.Y. Times article, 36 hours in Dublin. It was written a few years ago so I was a bit wary it might not have held up over the years. I was not to worry. We weee there on the 2nd night of their new menu. No longer an Irish/French place. They are full French brasserie.
We had a charred watermelon salad and fish charcuterie to start. Both excellent. Then succulent pork chops, and meaty duck breast perfectly cooked.
Service was cheerful and efficient.
The wine list was well chosen. We had a spicy rioja that complemented the dishes wonderfully.

F. W.Simply put, one of the better places in Dublin. An impossibly charming multi level French-Irish restaurant and bar, the upstairs dining room is much quieter than the boisterous bar area downstairs. Service was flawless and smooth and the prices are quite reasonable, with some really compelling choices on their prixe-fixe menu, three courses for 24 euros.

The choices on the early bird menu didn't catch me so much unfortunately though, but that was more form the point of view of the options available. In the end I went for the Ham and Chicken Terrine for starter and was happy with what I got. The Baked Fillet of Hake Au Pistou was up next and in all fairness it was delicious and well cooked! We didn't bother with any desserts but I did spring for the raspberry bellini and it was tasty even if a bit overpriced at €11!!

B. B.I booked an Early Bird for 2nd July. I was seated at our table for 06.30pm, my 2 friends were slightly late. Our Water informed us that the table was rebooked for 08.00pm. Food was delicious. Music was uncomfortably loud and I asked to have it tuned down, which it was. After completing our second course, the waiter informed us that he could not serve us dessert it was 07.45pm i.e. not enough time as table booked for 8.00pm. He went away and returned to inform us he had "good news" i.e. he could serve us dessert at the counter, and he proceeded to collect up our drinks glasses on to a tray and set us up at the counter. I had to ask for fresh drinks glasses. Within 10 minutes we were asked by 3 different waiters if we had decided on our choice of dessert. we declined dessert, paid our bill and left. Very dissapointed.
