The vibe of the restaurant pulled us. Food and ambiance was good. Deep fried ice creams was very unique.

The food is amazing - very filling and tasty with lots of vegan options. The vibe is great too- It just desperately needs a deep clean.. tables, walls, corners, floors... I understand the table is plywood but there were stains and it feels unhygienic.. maybe they could replace these? Also the shared toilets feel they need a deep clean.. I found myself trying not to touch any of the surfaces in there.

I understand they have a shortage of staff and a lot of stress but the service is very slow and the waiter does not really listen to you. I got my chimichanga wrong. The taste is good. Portions depends on what you order. Great margaritas.

Just want to thank the wonderful staff.First time here on Sunday 16th January. We went for my daughters birthday. Food was excellent. Staff super attentive and efficient. Great value for money. Will definitely make a return visit soon to try more on the menu.

Oh i love this place.
Its unassuming outside, yet welcoming inside.
I love the ambiance, the bar and the wall decors are funk.
The food are reasonably priced.
Food are tasty and my cravings for mexican food were satisfied. Warm food and freshly made. The plantain chips were superb.
The staff is amazing, i went there lunch time but it was almost empty. This place deserves more patron.
Id def be going back for more.

Brilliant Mexican food, catering to all spice preferences, with great nondairy options and fantastic drinks. Lovely staff and very reasonable prices too!

Random stop but had delicious starters. The strawberry and Passion fruit margaritas were delicious.
A. I.
Very enjoyable. The extra spicy IS extra spicy. One man run show when we went so expect slow service, he didn't have much time to talk. But it was delicious!
P. m.
Got the biggest chimichonga and they weren't kidding! Was delicious and massive. The 1 litre cocktails tasty and fresh.
M. V. K.
Amazing food! Best taco’s I ever had. Still had to wait some time before getting them, but very much worth it!!
r. h.
Excellent food and service as usual .All Covid rules adhered to.looking forward to next visit.

Very nice tacos.. Highly recommended for anyone 🍴

The food was great, but I didn't particularly enjoy the madness that is in there. No covid details taken, people queuing (without masks) down the centre of the small restaurant to get a table and the music (I'm going to sound old) was far too loud for an enjoyable experience. We ordered a cocktail and it hadn't been mixed. The service was slow, although the staff were always very friendly. I just wonder if they bite more than they can chew in there and need to scale it back to get a better result. It could definitely be cleaner too.
D. M.
Good service and even better food! Prices are reasonable as well.
Pro tip: Use the downstairs bathroom if you have to. It's a lot more pleasant there ^^
D. D.
Food is great but the service is sloooooowwww.
The extra hot is really extra hot, be careful. Great margaritas, be prepared to wait at least 30 minutes for them.
They had problems with our bill where first they gave us a different table's bill, then they gave us our bill missing some items, but also with things we didn't order. The waitress apolgoesed and said the staff were new, but seriously, the service needs to be sorted here.
I was facing another table who asked for the bill and had 3 other tables ask for the bill and pay before they themselves paid. I could feel their anger.
A. D.
Margaritas are 10/10 and really good price. This is my new go to Mexican restaurant. Staff are amazing too!
M. P.
Fantastic restaurant serves Mexican food with a twist. Very vegan and vegetarian friendly. Staff friendly and fantastic- tasty food with great flavours , good portion size a must try for meat eaters or vegan/vegetarians. The vegan cakes were absolutely out of this world. I was in Dublin for two nights and went to this restaurant on both nights - what a find!!!! Will be back when I'm next in town!!

After eating at way too many Irish pubs on our trip, we we're ready for a change. The hungry Mexican we a delicious change to the norm. Decent prices. The nachos are delicious. The chips are very clearly homemade and full of flavor.

Food was fab !! Portions sizes were great. I had chicken wings to start and my hubby had the nachos neither of us were disappointed. The chicken just fell off the bone. Then i had the chimmychanga omg it was delish 😋. My hubby had the ribs fab flavour and very tender. We had deep fried ice cream to finish it was unbelievable 😍 . Cocktails were fab to all around great night nothing negative to say about the place the staff were great also very friendly and couldnt do anymore for u. Would highly recommend !!!

Mixed feelings here.
Pros: Their spicy tequila wings are really good for being a “Mexican” place (the employees seem Hindu) and the portion is nice too. They are fast serving too.
Cons: Now, the nachos are AWFUL. I ended up putting 3/4 of them in the trash. They’re not even made out of corn; I think it was pita chips. The toppings were also tasteless and the “pico de gallo” was just bare, huge chunks of tomatoes and onions without any lime or anything. The tacos were okay if you can’t find anything better, but I ordered the “al pastor” ones and they were almost tasteless and bland... salsa verde was awful, not even spicy!

Just ate there this evening - this place is so good - had sizzling fajitas - absolutely delicious. Makes other Mexican restaurants in Ireland look average. First time here but not my last! Though the music is loud it doesn't warrant a complaint - this place has a unique vibe and we got it. What a positive experience!
O. U.
I really liked this place. Food is very tasty and filling and the atmosphere is great. The staff were helpful and explained me which food options are vegan (there are lots of them!). In the end I really enjoyed this place and will definitely visit it again.
A. C.
The best Mexican food I've had in Ireland! It's in a great location, the staff were incredibly friendly and helpful, and everything we ordered was delicious. Nearly everything they have on both their lunch and dinner menus can be made vegetarian/vegan, and is still just as delicious!! I can't wait to go back!
K. F.
Cool atmosphere, paper tablecloths that you can draw on while you wait for your food. Good vegan options for the meals. Nice staff and yummy food. I got the burrito and it was more rice and beans than anything else. I asked for the hottest salsa but didn't taste any in my burrito. Maybe they forgot. It was overall yummy but I would have like more things in the actual burrito. I felt I was eating only rice and beans.
S. W.
Probably the best Nutella churros I've ever had. The nachos were also delicious however we waited over 50 mins between our starter and main. The restaurant wasn't very busy but there seemed to be only one waitress on the floor. We never received our chips and had to have them deducted from the bill at the end. The enchiladas were smoothered in salsa to the point where I couldn't eat them. After waiting so long we knew what dessert we wanted so ordered two portions of churros only for the waitress to come back with two menus and leave us waiting again, so we ordered Nutella churros for a second time.
Really liked the casual decor and the margaritas were delicious but you really need extra floor staff service is really poor. Would return for the churros only.
A. T.
The food is really good and flavourful! Good service and ambience as well! Really like our meal there! Might get a little crowded during meal times so better to make a reservation!
C. k.
Always love the food here. Everything they do is great. Nice chilled out vibe as well.
R. N.
Hadn't heard anything about this place but will definitely be coming back. Really good food. The only issue was the service was chaotic, it took about 20-30 minutes for each thing we ordered (e.g. 20 minute wait, round of drinks, 20 minute wait, starters, 30 minute wait, mains, etc.). A good one for settling in but definitely not if you just want you food
S. R.
Gorgeous food. The staff were lovely . Gluten free available . They pack up our leftovers for bringing home .
K. o. T.
Absolutely the best restaurant I've been to in all of Ireland. Being from Texas and San Antonio the hub for all Tex Mex I did not come into the restaurant with the highest expectation. I was so blown away by the flavors, the fresh ingredients and fabulous plating of every dish. I started off with an order of their standard nachos, let me tell you there is nothing basic about them, crispy flour tortilla chips seasoned in house covered with cheddar cheese, topped with jalapenos and flanked on each side by a dollop of fresh guacamole and pico de gallo also served with a side of sour cream. Right here I was already in shock with the unexpected recipe it had my foodie palate in heaven. I ordered water as I've grown annoyed by the price and unusual flavor of Coke here in Ireland, that was just as impressive a carafe with tap infused with lemon and lime so perfectly I felt I should have paid for it. On to the main course, I had ordered chicken enchiladas verde, and what I recieved was a gastronomic experience I'm going to be sharing for a long time. The chicken was savory seasoned chicken breast wrapped in flour tortilla covered in fresh salsa verde, 3 large enchiladas provided the base for a salad of queso fresca, cilantro, white onion rings and pomegranate seeds, as a side plated beside was a red cabbage and spinach salad with a vinaigrette dressing that brought everything together. Let me tell you this meal was more than good it was an experience, it was spiritual. If you come to Dublin and do not eat here you you would given yourself the greatest disservice of your life.
A. D. r.
Great food, huge dishes staff a bit absent, they were upstairs all the time, when they say it's spicy is not adapted to the area, it is spicy, that was great, not for my toilet but delicious anyway
B. C.
Very nice food, but service was slow. It was very busy at the time so it's understandable. Alcohol selection was also lacking, only three beers to chose from but the beers where good.
R. S.
Amazing food and great service! Highly recommended. And please do try the Enchiladas - I just cant get over it. :)
C. V.
Amazing food and many vegan options so it's great if you have vegan friends! I definitely recommend this restaurant! (The only thing that I would improve is the sound level of the background music)
W. S.
Stopped in to get something different than what we have been eating throughout our European travels. This place did not disappoint. Portion sizes were filling and the service was fast and friendly. Food arrived to the table hot, and the atmosphere of the restaurant was enjoyable to be there. Would recommend stopping in for the burritos and chicken wings.
V. L.
Delicious food, good portion sizes and very tasty margaritas!
R. R. G.
I did not like the food to be very tasty but I was happy with their service.
M. R.
Wonderful atmosphere with candle lights. The table paper with crayons really allows to have fun while the food is being prepared. Lovely staff and good service. Very friendly as well.
S.
The ambiance is good, but the nachos and chipotle fries were average
D. N.
Possibly the best chicken wings I've ever had. Guys are not joking over there with dish descriptions and if they say that something is hot - you do better believe them as their food will surely burn you twice if you know what I mean 😜 full mexican experience :)
J. T.
Had a burrito and tacos while we were there, and while it isn't the purpose, it's very good for vegan/gluten free diets, because there are a lot of options. The food was great and the service was just as great.
A. E.
This is my favourite place for Mexican food! Food is always delicious. Staff are friendly and the atmosphere is excellent.
M. C.
This place is great! Atmosphere is chill and cool but the staff is also really friendly. Amazing margaritas, food and service
Highly recommended!
L. A.
Really friendly staff and very good food, First time eating here I found the food really good and authentic, great fajita's and chimmychangas, would recommend dining here if you enjoy Mexican Tex Mex food.
J. B.
Food is delicious. Fabulous range of veggie/vegan options. The margaritas are delicious.
D.
Very nice place but definitely hasn’t returned to this pre Covid standards! Food was a little dry and the wait staff were badly organised. Love the music! Miss the colouring menus, can’t wait to have them back!
S. K.
Food was good but limited desert menu, and they seemed understaffed as there was a long wait between courses and we were waiting for the server to check on us downstairs a few times.
G. G.
Delicious food with friendly staff. The rations have a substantial size and excellent flavour. We will definitively visit the restaurant again to check other dishes.
R. A.
Staffs are kind and friendly. The taste could have been better.
M. F.
Decent food. The new waitress that was on duty was very nice and attentive. I had the chili beef chimichanga. However, it should have had more melted cheese and sour cream put on top. The margarita was a bit weak. If these things improve, I'll easily give it 5 stars on my next visit.
D. W.
Cool little Mexican restaurant with very tastey food and the classic margaritas are bomb 💥👌🏽 staff really friendly will definitely return often 😁
R. M.
Nice Mexican restaurant food is typical Mexican fare nice and delicious and hot price is reasonably good I'd recommend it
E. M.
This place is a must! Staff, cocktails, food and service all excellent! We had a great time, it’s casual dining and laid back, we loved it and cannot wait to come back! A gem of a spot
D. T.
Very nice little restaurant to get your burrito fix. It's a bit different than most places and the burrito is very tasty. Good value too! Worth checking it out
M. G.
Excellent Nachos, Margaritas & Chimichangas!! Service was good and the crayons are always a winner.
K. R.
We had lunch there today and were very pleasantly surprised by the quality of food and service. Staff was very friendly and helpful. The food was delicious and fresh. We will definitely be back for more.
V. C.
The food is out of this world...we were all veg and had plenty of options and everything tasted really good.
K. O. M.
Arrived at 8.15.. Didn't get food until 10 to 10pm. Apart from that lovely restaurant & really great food & cocktails.
G. V.
Food is good but the portions are really less. I think, they should increase the quantity for value.
P. S.
Tasty Mexican food with a range of vegan options including plantain which I loved.
c. c.
The food was really good. Had ordered chicken tacos and chicken burritos. I'm planning to visit again soon.
N. M. G.
Thank you so much to Oman and the team at The Hungry Mexican! The food was absolutely delicious - not to mention the fabulous Margaritas! The staff were very warm and welcoming and kindly offered their recommendations on the menu! Such speedy service and loved the retro style of the room - will be back!
s. h.
Great atmosphere, food is georgous and the cocktails aren't bad either
A. O.
This is the perfect place for a gals night with plenty of margaritas, loud tunes, and a club-y vibe. Food isn’t great and service is slow and, based off of other reviews, that wasn’t just a once-off thing. Definitely more of a group vibe kind of place and expect lots of noise, from both the music and the customers. The staff seem lovely but very stressed.
V. P.
The place is a bit small but nice. Food was very good and the place is conviniently located near the Temple Bar area.
E. A. G.
The best mexican in Dublin with authentic food 💗💗💗💗💗 the staff were also amazing cannot wait to go back!
M.
Lovely owners and the food is AMAZING. Definitely worth a visit. I've been to mexico many times and sampled all the food I could, the food here lives up to and surpasses expectation!
Venue is small and cost, and service is fantastic, a real gem!
We were delighted to see it is on delivery platforms as well so we will be ordering regularly!
S. L.
Absolutely delicious! I ask enfrijoladas y enchiladas! Really Mexican hungry😜💖
M. D.
I’ve been fortunate to visit Chihuahua and know a good burrito when I taste one. And Here was Very welcoming, food had great portions, full of meat and seasoning. The replies to customers who are unhappy always want to rectify the problem which I think is a great step in the direction for any business. I will be back. 💯
E. A. H.
The place has a great atmosphere, the service is very friendly, though slow, food is good, wouldn't call it amazing however. In general we had a lovely time, and would consider returning if we were hungry ( but not too hungry, as the wait would drive you mental), but there are better Mexicans to enjoy in Dublin, both in flavours and value departments.
I.
Me and my boyfriend were in Hungry Mexican last night, just to try something new and I am absolutely shocked by all the negative reviews as our experience was nothing like it. The staff was very friendly, fast and make amazing Margaritas! Food very tasty, big portions, worth the price and it didn't take long either. We ordered nachos, jackfruit tostadas, toastone and chipotle cheese chips and left very happy with everything and in a big food coma!
W. M.
Fantastic selection of food, and a nice variety of sauces/toppings to provide any level of heat you like (or want to test).
I kept it basic with a burrito, but went for their middling heat with jalapenos. Absolutely delicious. Served quite quickly too, which was nice. Also a nice selection of beers to go along with the food.
Seating was a little tight, but not uncomfortable.
M.
Good food
S. A.
I love the food here, the decor is quirky and I love the fact that they recycle materials for the place.
K. K.
Great service and beautiful fresh food, will be back 🙂
a.
Must say I'm kind of surprised by the high praise raving about the food as I thought it wasn't that memorable. The staff however were very friendly hence the 4 star rating, but for the food... can't really recommend it. Me and my boyfriend went here once and we both didn't rate our meals highly. It's good drunk food but that's about it.
J. M.
The nachos were some of the nicest I've ever had. The staff were friendly and helpful. Didn't get any alchohol but the drinks menu had a nice big selection and the margheritas looked really nice. Tried enfrijoladas which were really tasty aswell. We left very full and happy :) Loved the lighting and the music too. Can't wait to go back again and try more things from the menu.
m. h.
Very slow service, too loud music. Delicious enchiladas.
T. H.
Was in Ireland for a month and missed some spicy food. This place was a great find! Best nachos ever. All the dishes were unique and delicious. Our waitress was fun and took time to explain the dishes we weren't familiar with. Great prices, too!
L. A.
Lovely atmosphere, AMAZING music (upbeat classics) that actually had us dancing in our seats. The food was so good we gave back our plates scraped clean! Original Mexican Food made to an extremely high standard. As for the staff? The friendliest people with the nicest smiles!! Highly recommend this place if you're looking to have a good dine!
C. 4.
Authentic Mexican food in a cozy little quayside environment
O. L.
Lovely meal tonight to celebrate my daughters 11th birthday. Friendly & efficient service. Plenty of food & really good value. Would definitely recommend a visit. Delicious passion fruit margaritas
D. O.
Really friendly staff, prices are reasonable and there are plenty of vegan options! I got the stuffed aubergine 😍
E. H.
Food was delicious, margarita's was lovely, staff very friendly! 😊
L. C.
Have been here a few times and food is always great. Recently booked a table and was seated downstairs, services was extremely slow, drinks came 10 minutes after food and we ordered them first! There were rarely any servers around to ask for something, had to go upstairs to order drinks and extra sides. But food was still so tasty and margaritas were amazing!
W. J.
Awesome Mexican food. Incredible value for money in such a central location in Dublin. Staff are great, as is their selection of drinks. Really good vibe from the whole place. The walls are decorated with artwork from customers which gives it a really nice touch. Will definitely visit again.
J. S.
Great food, the habanero salsa was awesome.
M.
Amazing food!!! I can’t stress that enough... everything is freshly made and I have never tasted tacos like them. Working my way through their entire menu and am loving the experience. PS margaritas are also delicious
D. H.
Best mexican restaurant in dublin!!Good services and the food taste as delicious as it looks.
J.
Fantastic home made tortilla chips in their nachos. Reminds us of our favorite Mexican place back in the States.
Fantastic margaritas as well!
k. w. t.
Absolutley love this place!! My 2nd time here i came for my cousins birthday, after not been treated well at a 5 star resturaunt the night before, we booked in here and wow we had a fantastic night, the cocktails were amazing! The food is superb! And the girl who served us was so so lovely and welcoming
Will definatley be back again
D. b.
We were visiting from California and love Mexican food. Service and food were both excellent. Nice little family owned place and our server was very friendly. I went with a burrito with their vegan meat substitute and the salsa Verde that is labeled as *very spicy*. Don't be afraid though, this heat was absolutely perfect for me. Was full for hours after the meal and the fries and Irish ipa completed the package. I'd eat here all the time if we lived in town.
A. R.
Was a huge fan of the original Hungry Mexican so I'm so happy it's back. Food is absolutely amazing by far the best Mexican in Dublin and the margaritas continue to he fantastic. Unfortunately I think it's really let down by the new location. It's hard to see whether or not it's open from the glass doors and it's unpleasant to enter when you have to try and get around so many people waiting for the bus. In fact I had to walk by it several times to figure out whether or not it was open. The decor rather than looking shabby chic just looks unfinished and messy. The music is way too loud and clashes with the loud music for the bar next door. Overall I absolutely love the food but the experience is really let down by the setting. I think it could be easily improved and I really hope they do.
G. M. J. V.
The food was really good. And the place was pretty.
A. Q.
A bit of a strange place with cheap decor and okay food. Affordable, on a bit of a dodgy quay but located centrally beside temple bar and near ha'penny bridge. Staff seems friendly and looks to be family owned but it definitely isn't authentic Mexican food. My girlfriend enjoyed her enchiladas but my nachos were disappointing unfortunately. Pablo picante is probably the best nearby and tough to beat but I will likely come back again to try once more as they have other options that might be nice. Bathroom available and sits around 30 people.
K. M.
It's so hard to find good Mexican food.
The three of us had been on a road trip of Ireland and Dublin was the last stop and we were trying to work out where to go for the last meal.
Even though we did not plan to come here we were glad we did.
Food was delicious and staff were lovely, ready to give their recommendations. They explained what certain dishes were. Helpful and informative.
The sombreros was a neat touch which was much appreciated.
A great meal to end a wonderful trip.
A. D. B.
Great vegan and delicious options, excellent staff, highly recommend it! Could die for another piece of that sweet chocolate fudge cake!
J. M.
As authentic a Mexican that you'll find in the city. They even serve Plantain fries
F. C.
This place is just fantastic! Whereas every other burrito bar tries to recreate the success of others, Hungry Mexican proudly doesntheir own thing with their own unique flavors.
While still in their fledgling stage, there are one or two minor kinks that need to be worked out, I have no doubt in my mind that very soon there will be queues out the door
Also, as I was eating with a filthy vegetarian I got some insight into their vegetarian options, which are apparently leaps and bounds over the competition
If you’ve never had plantain fries, now is your chance, just get a dip to go with them as they are totally delicious but a touch dry
f. d.
Love this place! Family owned and run with great food and their own lager. The portions are big in here and they let you decide how spicy your dish is. The staff is really friendly and the location is great if you're out for the night.
G. S.
Good mexican food, really spicy and authentic.
H. A.
Really happy I tried this place. Loved the food. The vibe is very relaxed and service was pleasant. They have a really nice menu with lots of interesting options for vegitarians and vegans. I had the enfrijoladas which I loved. I'm really looking forward to going back and trying more of the dishes. The margaritas were great too!
A. M. G.
I really like this place. The food is delicious and a bit different to other similar restaurants. They have a really nice chipotle spin on some of the classic expected meals if you want.
The tables are supplied with drawing paper and crayons so you can doodle away while waiting for food. On subsequent visits you may see your artwork adorning the corridor to the bathroom. (Bathroom is sufficient but not amazing, that's what lost the star here.)
The margarita pitchers are nice tasting but can be a little overloaded with fruit pulp!
L. C.
After living in Ireland for nearly a year, we finally found a place that is good, basic Mexican food. Not fancy, but not fast food either. The habanero salsa is actually hot, which is hard to find in Dublin. The nachos are hand-made flour chips and, while unexpected, are fantastic! Nice wait staff, good service. Cozy setting.
M. L.
Nice food, nice décor.
We loved looking at the drawings on the wall when waiting on our delicious food.
A. J.
If someone made a list of best Mexican restaurants in Dublin, then this will make it to the top of that list any given day! The tables are lit with the candles adding up to the charm of the restaurant. The food here is fantastic with very distinctive flavouring and this is that “one” place you shouldn't miss when you’re here in Dublin! Such an amazing restaurant I should say. Highly recommended!!!!
J. J.
Such a wonderful restaurant and food was delicious , they cook according to your priorities
P. B.
So far best burrito I had in Dublin.
V. S.
Place is quirky from outside, lovely warm atmosphere inside! The staff were extremely friendly and helpful! Food was lovely and had great options for vegans.
Forgot to take a pic with the sombreros on!!
Would definitely go back again!
Thanks
J. L.
Cheap, cheerful and delicious Mexican food. Great atmosphere and the service and buzz in the place just added to an overall fun experience. Found the place purely by accident as we simply couldn't find a table anywhere in town at short notice. A little gem, well definitely be back
A. L.
Really nice margaritas, great food and spices were perfect. Nachos were the only thing that could be improved on, but I'm very particular about nachos. Service was super friendly. 5 stars well deserved
s. g.
First time tried a chimchangas. It was lovely. Will be back 👍👍👍
M.
Super tasty 😋
The couple that run it are really nice.
We got the chimichanga, plantain chips, fried tortilla sharing plate with homemade salsa, lemonade, strawberry non alcoholic margarita, churros and deep fried ice cream.
Everything was amazing except the deep fried ice cream.
I highly recommend and will be back here again in the future!
M. S.
Very dark place, not very clean and food is good but not really great.
S. M.
We were so happy to see The Hungry Mexican was back open, the food is always incredible at a fantastic value too. A lovely family business that seem to care about their customers and always provide excellent service. They are only reopen two weeks and we are just home from our second visit, and looking forward to many return visits.
G. C.
This is my new favourite place to eat in Dublin. The Tequila Chicken wings are melt in your mouth delicious. I'm not a vegetarian but I like trying veggie options and this carnivore very much enjoyed the jackfruit tacos. The plantain fries are also very much worth trying. Although the food is delightful and different the best thing about this restaurant is that it is run by a lovely couple who always make you feel welcome. There is a really fun and warm vibe in the place. Would highly recommend!
l. k.
Quirky little place. Don't let the outside put you off. Really nice food and friendly service. Great vegan options too. Definitely worth a visit when you're in Dublin. Bus seats are really comfortable too !
Z. C.
Beautiful food, amazing service, were accommodating to my allergies. Genuine quirky place, small but homely. Get to draw on the table cloth and keep yourself entertained when you are waiting on food and drinks. Pretty quick service though.
D. E.
I have walked past this restaurant many times without venturing inside: silly me. Quirky it is: I sat on a repurposed bus seat and the tables were originally students' desks. If you are artistic (and even if you are not) you can draw on the brown paper which serves as a table cloth - if your drawing is good, it may end up decorating the restaurant wall.
The service is very friendly. There are many tasty items on the menu including vegetarian and vegan options - save space for the vegan chocolate fudge cake. The portions are large and you can select from a range of spicy sauces. I enjoyed the homemade lemonade - best I have had for a long time.
There is a larger Mexican restaurant a few doors down: do yourself a favour and walk on by: the larger Mexican restaurant is not bad but the Hungry Mexican is so much better. WIGA? Definitely yes, I'm already planning my next visit.
T. V.
Pretty good meal, music was a little loud but then again it fits the vibe. Prices and portions are good for the food.
R.
Really tasty authentic Mexican food. Had pulled pork & chorizo enchiladas. It’s comfort food, had a side of chili cheese fries, loaded with salt.
What let’s the place down is the setting and decor. The music didn’t suit the atmosphere at all. It’s almost as if the restaurant(if you’d call it that) popped up overnight. Chequer-plated walls & basic cafe setting with underwhelming seats. But the food is fab.
G. S.
I had a few meals at this place and everything was very tasty. (Fried plantain salad, Jackfruit salad) There is plenty of gluten free and veggie options as well and portions are really big. Staff is very friendly and attentive. A lovely little spot to grab a meal before going out or getting the bus home.
A. V.
After 20 years of eating Mexican food all over the US, I never thought I would find it again in Europe.
The ingredients can be impossible to find, and the skills required to do it right can be hard to find practice.
But the owners here have done it. This place is on par with the best restaurants in the SF Mission, if not better.
Come here. Enjoy the food. Watch out for the insane habanero salsa, it will leave you high.
J. L.
Great simple Mexican food. The giant chimichanga has to bee seen the be believed.
j. b.
I went to the Hungry Mexican for dinner with my wife because of all the good reviews. The food was nice in fairness, but the surroundings weren't very pleasant. There was an unpleasant smell and dull orange lighting (Maybe for Halloween, i'm not sure). The music was also WAY too loud and an odd mix of hip hop and rap when presumably something more akin to ambient or mood music (Background stuff) would have been better suited. I wouldn't have bothered leaving a review except they screwed up our order. I ordered a Burrito without Creme and with hot green chilli salsa and my wife ordered a chimichanga with mild salsa. My Burrito came with Creme and While I though their salsa was just mild for an Irish palate, it turns out my wife was just being polite and only at the end of her meal suggested that they may have mixed up the salsas. I took a bit of hers and that's absolutely what happened. Luckily her spice tolerance is pretty solid. It wasn't very busy so there was no real excuse for these mess ups. As I said, the food was nice enough, but with everything else I couldn't recommend it for anything past a lunch take away.

Love the tortilla chips and overall freshness of the food. One of the few Mexican places that tastes like real Mexican and not tex-mex. Including authentic hot sauce, great variety of heat! Only caveat is their burrito bowls are more so a deconstructed plate of burrito ingredients. Not a bag thing, just different. It's our go to place by the river.
P. C.
It is great having this place back . It is only after opening in the new premises. Had a few of my favourite dishes and they were great as always . The style of the place is a bit different but I really liked it as you can see from the photos. You sit on old bus benches but I found the comfortable. It will only get better too as they are there longer . The staff are friendly as they always were in the old place

Amazing Mexican food with good selection of Cocktails
N. L.
Love this place. Fantastic food and great service. I haven't left and am already planning my next visit.
C. B.
A good range of vegan and glutenfree options, it's really no fuss or hassle and a very pleasant experience to order.
The fried plaintain chips are amazing, would recommend them to anyone.
(I apologise for my tablemate who kept making jokes about the waitress paying for everything, it was really inappropriate and uncomfortable)
A. W.
Good food, the waitress was really kind, the main courses were abundant and they were flexible if any variation was needed (vegan friendly too). We had fun because they gave us some sombreros to take pictures of us and colours to paint the paper on the table while we were waiting
G. L.
Amazing tortillas. Lovely passionfruit Margaritas. Will visit again.
D. K.
Loved it, carful with the habanero sauce it's hot. The staff are really friendly and just want to make sure you enjoy your time there. There take on Mexican food is similar to the Mexicans, simple food with good favour.
L. O.
Great food at a great price.
Nice selection of salsas on the menu, some cool, some hot but all full of flavour.
My favourites are the tequila wings and chimichanga.
The sauce on the wings is full of flavour and has a nice kick, some of the best in the city.
The chimichanga (baked burrito) is great. The flavour of the rice, beans, meat and salsa really blends together for a cracking meal. If you like a kick try it with the habanero salsa.
s. s.
Not that authentic as any other maxican but, for once is ok to try
N.
So glad this place is back open. In my opinion this is the best Mexican food you can find in dublin. It is very good value and the quality of the food is amazing. I really recommend it! They also do great deals for lunch and for students! So glad it’s back.
D. M.
Very delicious spicy food. Definitely worth it! And it's a great place for all vegetarians and vegans! After all this plate I ordered on the picture was vegetarian.
P.
A very warm and welcoming atmosphere with an incredibly friendly owner. We talked for ages about all the vegetarian/vegan options that she had, which is very substantial compared to other local Mexican restaurants.
T. M.
Great Mexican food right on the river in Dublin. Had their nachos which were fantastic. Their chips are incredible! They will make your margaritas just the way you like them.
R. K.
This is not your usual burrito joint. The food is more fresh and tastes amazing. The quantity is also more than sufficient. Better to book a table as it can get quite busy.
N. B.
OK nachos, over priced for what you get
A. G.
I had one of the most amazing lunch at this mexican restaurant in dublin city centre 🌮🌯🥙
Loved the atmosphere and the food. The owner is one of the most humble person I've ever met!
Check it out!! I'll definitely check it out again! And again!
E. B.
Quirky little restaurant with loads of vegan options, including starters and desserts! I had the tostones, enfrijoladas with no cheese and a spiced plantain filling, and the vegan churros. They were all delicious, and everything was very reasonably priced as well. We’ll definitely be going back in the future.
S. P.
Very good food, very nice and helpful staff. The know what is coming from the kitchen. If you're veggie or vegan this is a good place to go. From starters to deserts you have a choice.
The staff is friendly, patient and helps you choose if you ask them or explains what it is.
Price wise, I think not very expensive, especially for this quality. Main dishes are from 10 to 15 euro.
H. M.
I went there cause of the vegan offeries. Since Dublin does not have quite a lot of vegetarian restaurants I felt thankful for being offered delicious, spicy dishes. But there´s even more: The waitress is kind and open-hearted and there´s no possibility you´re leaving this place hungry.
"The Hungry Mexican" is a restaurant for both - Vegans & Meateaters.
b. c.
Very nice food, good selection especially for vegetarians and vegans. Good range of spice level. Reasonably priced with very good service. Relaxing atmosphere, located in a good location right next to the river.
L.
This place has the best burrito I have tasted in all of Dublin!! (This coming from a proffessional burrito muncher). Literally came in had the best meal and bonded with the waitress bc we’re following the same series on Netflix. Yes I had a netflix&burrito there. Don’t judge..
Anyways would reccomend 10/10
d. P.
Passionate, knowledgeable and friendly chef and owners. The staff are always attentive, polite and accommodating. Consistent and reliable. This is my go to for freshly prepared food. It is always a joy to eat here.
p. d.
Awesome Mexican food. I have been there 3 weeks ago with bunch of Candian friends for lunch and all of us overwhelmed with that food, though it was tasty we couldn't finish it.
Must visit place if u like spicy food.
E. B. R.
Amazing food and Margaritas. Would highly recommend giving them a try if you haven't already.
r.
Fantastic food. But i would not recommend the mojito. Personally i did not enjoy.
Great atmosphere in place. Great staff dont touch the mojito
D. H.
So happy to have this restaurant back. Best Mexican food in Dublin in my opinion. Food was even better then last time. Same staff who are so nice.
Looking forward to returning.
A. (.
Amazing food. Great atmosphere. Best Mexican food in the city.
R. C.
Small casual environment, friendly helpful server. The plantain fries were great, and the main dishes were delicious. Lunch Special was a good value.
J. M. S.
Have eaten here twice and its a good experience. The food is tasty and the portions are large. Price wise I find it good considering its location on the quays. The owner is also friendly and asks for feedback.
M. A.
The starters wings were wonderful, unfortunately their were no more chicken for my burito but the beef was wonderful.
R. B.
Good service and great food.
Tastey cocktails and good value, I definitely plan on returning.
S.
Sensational food. Staff very friendly
J. F.
Good food and well served, good music and service as well, actually everything tasty but the name of the plates wasn't according with the real names .. We ordered "pastor" tacos and we received "cochinita pibil" tacos, also ordered "enchiladas" and they brought something like "flautas" or "tacos dorados" that is the way people in Mexico call it .. (hey a couple of years living in Mexico City, something I had to learn) .. "Chimichangas" and "fajitas" seems to be good, bad for me that I didn't order that!! - next time I'll go for it
L. O. R.
Friendly staff, amazing food👍
m. k.
This is my second time here in the past month. A great find. Food delicious. Pretty small premises. Bet they could fill it twice during busy time's. Lovely friendly staff. Will be back next time i am in Dublin.
A. V.
Great staff, great food, great selections of drinks
P. S.
Had lunch here yesterday, as a vegan I found the food amazing and really good value! The restaurant itself doesn't look like much but give it a try, u won't be disappointed!
M. F.
Best Mexican food I have had. The Nachos are unbelievable, everything is super fresh and churros for desert !!
L. M.
The food was so delicious, would definitely recommend the chipotle cheese fries! The staff were so so lovely and helpful and service was quick. Lots of vegetarian options too! 😊
G. M.
Good service, tasty food!
E. R.
"I was just in The Hungry Mexican for lunch, my second time in this place.
The service is really nice and fast, good music on the speakers (at a good level) and most importantly - a delicious burrito with chili soya and crunchy salad on side! not that many Mexican places in Dublin serve burritos with soya protein (at least I am not aware of them). Definitely recommend."
M. P.
Best-tasting burrito ever tried and super friendly staff. Cozy atmosphere and vegetarian friendly food. You get loads of food for what you're paying.
J. M.
Magaritas are to die for and homemade nachos are the best in dublin.litre of Magaritas and nachos grand with chilli beef was the best. My vegan friend was very happy and are already thinking of the next visit.
U. H.

my husband says he doesn’t like it not wrap up. he recons it is not as nice as Pablo next door. we both think the music can be turn down a lot, it is deafening. good thing is its opening hours are longer than Pablo.
H. K.
lovely staff, urban atmosphere and delicious (vegan!) mexican dishes, but rather pricey. bathroom was okay.

"This little gem right on the quays in Dublin is very deceptive - from the outside it gives nothing away - upon entering you are pleasantly surprised -
I am a lover of Mexican food and like all city dwellers i do frequent Boojum for the odd burrito - after visiting the Hungry Mexican - I will not be returning to Pablo Picante or Boojum - the food here is next to none - and the service is amazing at great prices!!"
R. Y.
We ordered the vegi burrito with plantains and it was delicious... The kids quesadilla was not all that good, however the service was amazing and the sombreros are a must..
C.
Good food, lovely staff.. they make one bomb lemonade 🙌🏻 and stuff is informed about gluten free meals.
O. M.
I was seated downstairs, it was very dark but i guess that's to make an atmosphere, though i had to wait quite a bit for waiters.
The food is good.
L. R.
Delicious tacos and really spicy habanero sauce! Chef is mexican and you can tell. Yum yum yum
P.
Very nice and friendly staff, food decent as I hadn't tried it before.
P. J.
Food was unbelievable good but we had to wait almost 40 minutes for it, considering the restaurant was half empty it was a bit disappointing. Price is not too bad considering the high quality of food.
J. C.
Wonderful atmosphere, beautiful service and delicious food, what else can I say? I am more than happy that we wandered into this restaurant :) :) :)
G. I.
Great food, reasonable prices. Wait between the starters and the main was a bit much and they got my order wrong but still food made up for it

The Hungry Mexican was for many years one of my favourite restaurants in Dublin and it was very close to my apartment in Bolton Street but in order to develop their business they needed to relocate to Aston Quay.
The good news is that the restaurant is now fully operational and it is highly recommended especially if you like Mexican food. They are also offering some really good breakfast combinations before 12 noon and if you are a visitor to the city centre this is a very good option. I especially like their coffee.
N.
Absolutely obsessed with this place, the vegan options are honestly something else!! Would recommend it to anyone

J. G.
So the food here is excellent. I certainly can't fault it on the flavours or quality of the ingredients. The portions are also just right. The value is good too. I would just warn you that you should be prepared to wait, even with a booking. The slow service is the only reason I will not give it 5 stars. We were a group of 4 but it was 3 hours before we were all wrapped up and out of there. It wasn't just the food that was slow, it was about 20 minutes before they took our order, then another 20 for the drinks to come out. The starter was quite quick but the mains were a full hour after that so we were beginning to get impatient. Now in fairness a manager did come over to us and apologies for the delays and offer us free deserts (we were only able for 1 between the four of us but it was good). So that was nice but a stag of about 15 people were in maybe a half hour after we arrived and I think they had finished all their food and and left before we got our mains. Excellent food but I think their waiting staff are very inexperienced. Will return.
H. M.
