Lovely and attentive staff. Very good food, nice presentation. Even with a sweet birthday surprise! Recommend.
N. E.
Stuff is very attentive and lovely, and service was fast. But food was a little below my expectations compared with prices. The non-traditional cheesecake is a must try.
P. M.
Really enjoyed my visit to this restaurant. Had been on my 'to do' list and did not disappoint. Lovely food, staff, and atmosphere, despite the various constraints and limitations imposed by the current pandemic.
S. L.
Two Michelin stars very well deserved. Dishes were well presented and sophisticated with a hint of the Irish cuisine. It's an expensive restaurant but worth the quality. We'll located, next to the trinity college. I'd recommend it!

Nice atmosphere and fine food.
Definitely worth a visit; also recommended by the Michelin guide.
Really friendly staff; being there on my birthday, they were kind enough to bring me an extra plate with a sweet.
L. G.
Great atmosphere, professional, attentive and friendly staff, superb food. I will come back

Best food I've had on a regular basis has been here. Awesome. Damn tasty & unusual menu, portions might look a little on the small side but they are just right. Quirky venue overlooking trinity college park. For not-too-big groups there is an option for private dining on the top floor which is very cosy & intimate. Fantastic service, cannot rate this place more highly.
M. D.
Great dining atmosphere! Cozy but not too crowded. Tables are quite close to each other though. Food is delight for the eyes and tastes very good as well. They serve in a very timely fashion between starter and main course which is nice. Staff also very friendly.
G. L.
We lucked out and were able to get walk in seats. We ordered the 3 course tasting menu. Portions were generous and the smoked salmon was delicious. Perfect place to kick off the evening after a day of walking around
A. N.
The food was excellent but service not so good. We had a big work dinner and most people thoroughly enjoyed all courses. The sunflower seed bread is a must try as is the cheesecake and the crab starter.
L. S.
Very nice but specific food (you need to like slow cooked meat, although there is a fish and vegetarian dish). Revisited deserts are nice. I recommend the cheesecake.
S. B.
Wonderful place, very sophisticated with friendly service and delicious food. The pork belly and shepherd's pie in particular are amazing! Great view too, if you're seated by one of the windows!
R. d.
Food was excellent. Some of the drinks were off, a spritz was not what we expected (aperol with prosecco), merely watered down white wine, and an order was wrong, a salad was ordered and a tartar delivered, the ox cheek with escargot & bone marrow had neither recognizably, they’re not a coffee house and it was loud, (we sat next to table of very loud Americans). some issues, no 5 stars. Very good overall .
A. C.
Great food. Nice modern take on semi Irish cuisine. Staff were excellent - Friendly and experienced. Well worth a visit. Cheesecake desert in the bag and jar is a really novel way to present desert.
D. C. G.
We were able to walk in when they opened at 5:30 and get a table. Even though we were feeling like paupers after playing tourist all day, we had a great meal and good service. Fantastic early menu items, mom had cod and I enjoyed the duck.
S. S.
Very competently cooked dishes. Cured Mackerel with goatsbridge caviar was fantasticly well balanced and thought through. The veal tartare was great but over shadowed by the mackerel. The beef cheek was cooked wonderfully - with the beautiful gelatinous texture you get from the connective tissue when stewed slowly. The restaurant made brown sunflower bread was addictive to say the least.
Desserts were a miss unfortunately.

I had a really lovely experience dining here. I came in for lunch and ordered the two course menu. Everything from the basket of bread and butter to the helpful and attentive staff was enjoyable. The menu had some really interesting and delicious-sounding choices, and I was quite happy with my choices. Unique decor and space, in a narrow but tall building. Go up one flight of stairs for the main dining room. On another level was the kitchen, another a second dining room. The another set of stairs for the ladies’ room, and another for the men’s.
M. A.
Seemed a bit on the snooty side, but the food was excellent. As was the service. Coming from NYC, I thought the early bird special (2 or 3 courses under 30 euro) was a fantastic deal! I had the smoked salmon appetizer and duck leg main and both were superb! The wine selection was also delicious (white rioja). I didn’t have a reservation (party of 1) on a Friday at around 6pm and they fit me in (there were many empty tables). Restaurant was only starting to fill up when I was leaving around 7. There are a few floors.
A.
Very good traditional Irish restaurant with a bit of a fancier twist. The Shepherds Pie was delicious. Price wise OK.
L. M.
The food was delicious, the wine menu excellent and the staff and service were great. We found it very reasonably priced too. Highly recommend.
W. S. M.
We wanted to try this place for years and it definitely lived up to our expectations ! From the very beginning, the staff was extremely nice and professional, the food was just perfect, the atmosphere very cozy.
I can recommend the goat cheese started, the pork belly as main and the cheese platter for dessert 👍👍👍
C. P.
Really great 2 course lunch. Both course were executed perfectly with great technique and flavor. I had an Earl Grey cured Scottish salmon that was really refreshing. My second course was line caught cod with chickpeas and chorizo, the cod had a great crust but really moist on the inside. I would highly recommend stopping in, especially for a quick lunch. The service was friendly but fast, was headed to airport and able to dine within 30 minutes.
K. W.
The shepherds pie is a must try, cosy homely atmosphere and the staff are very attentive.
D. F. A.
Had a pleasant dinner at The Pig’s Ear. Food was enjoyable (but not wow!) and staff very careful and polite. It can get a bit loud and crowded, we stayed upstairs.
J. L.
Absolutely a great place. Kind and observant staff, good food in a league above many other places and the prices are fair. I will definitely come back to this amazing place - hopefully sooner rather than later.
E. H.
Had a fantastic night out here last week. Delish food and Carlo the Italian dude treated us like royalty. Can't wait to come back!
J. K.
A good example of Irish food done well in Dublin. Not the cheapest but also not prohibitively priced. The early bird offers good value for money and it's in an excellent location.
A. H.
This little restaurant is something speciel. They serve very great and tasty food from the french/irish kitchen. It is understandable that they are bib gourmand. If you want fine food, you need to visit this restaurant.
O. H.
The pig's ear is one of the best restaurants in Dublin, the serving size is not big, but is more focused on quality, I tried the salmon as entry and it was delicious, as main plate I had the Wicklow venison really tender. Finally as dessert I had the cheesecake that is the signature dish
C. D.
After spending the week having pub food we needed to step up our game. This was the best meal we had in Ireland. The quality of yhe food was instantly apparent. We had the tartare to start. Then I went with the venison and had the duck fat potatoes... The potatoes alone are worth the trip. But the impeccable service and ambiance were great too.
W. F. M.
Delicious modern Irish food. Priced slightly higher than the usual 25-30 euros for a main, but the quality is also higher than the usual. Due to the smaller dining area and the compact seating, it can be quite noisy
A. G. I.
Excellent good quality, but running a bit on the overpriced side. Biggest problem is the size of the portions and the small menu. While it offers incredible dishes, 2 or 3 accompanied visits and there's nothing else new to try. Great service and nice ambience; I would definitely recommend this place for your special occasion, but not your everyday restaurant.
D.
Fabulous food, nice informal setting overlooking Trinity College. We had fish and chicken nicely cooked but we particularly loved their soda bread (dillisk or dried see lettuce is one of the ingredients). I now make it myself and remember this lovely restaurant.
Dessert is also a must!
M. D.
Food and service were excellent, Bailey's coffee at the end was lukewarm.
W. T.
Excellent Irish food. Win our heart both taste, look, and atmosphere.
A. L.
Local Irish restaurant serves great food. In the middle of Dublin. Easy to find.
H. C.
Very nice place. Excellent quality food. The place is very big, it's on three floors. Service is excellent.
H. R.
High quality food and service. Be mindful on the time you sit there. Normally people are waiting when your time is up
M. A.
We had a great dinner here. The place is very well located and is very pretty inside. We were greeted and welcomed - made to feel at home. The Shepherd's Pie was as tasty as it was good looking when served. A friend also raved about the Pork Belly. Combined with some Guinness - all at a fair price. Highly recommended.
M. M.
Very pleasant dinning experience, pricy of course.
M. J.
Great modern Irish food for a reasonable price.
M. C.
What a fun place for dinner. The restaurant is in a tall narrow townhouse, up three steep flights of stair, but well worth the climb. The food was exceptional. The service was casual but spot on and the bathrooms are up a few more flights of stairs. It is a pleasant change to have such well prepared food without the pretension and napkin refolding. Wines were great and reasonable. Eat here, as you'd be hard pressed to find a better meal in Dublin.
J. K.
My review is purely about the vegan options. The only vegan starter option was gazpacho which would never be my first choice for a starter and tested pretty much as what you would expect. A cold veggie pure. Would never order again.
The salad as main was super nice and I enjoyed it a lot but the sweet cherries are unnecessary and make the dish taste a bit like a dessert. Would order again but ask for no cherries.
The only vegan option for the dessert was sorbet which I did not try. I wish they had another option.
Atmosphere and everything else was great.
The wholegrain bread that comes as a side is one of the best breads I have ever eaten.
T. K.
High quality food. Very small portions.
G. L.
Nice location and good food! The service is a bit slow.
N. P.
food was good, not out of this world good, but enough, the service on the other hand was surprisingly bad, the waitress was rude and uninterested, it was like she just wanted to empty the table fast, she had no information about the plates, no opinion or desire to be nice. it was really disappointing given that this is a nice place and food was good, I gave feedback to the manager before leaving because I felt it was truly a shame their employee would destroy what could have been a nice experience.
A. W.
OMG! Food delicious. Staff very attentive especially with the wine but couldn't find fault with anything! Beautiful cuisine. Some slightly unusual dishes but well worth a visit. They do special offers on 2 and 3 courses. Highly recommend!
O. P.
Great food and good service! I very much enjoyed the evening here. The tartar was not the best - meat ground too thinly. They mixed up the order just a bit as well, with the beers. But overall the experience was well worth the price. Highly recommended!
O. L.
Irish cuisine with a modern take. Really love the shepherd pie
Z. R.
Tucked away on the second floor away from the hustle and bustle of tourists just around the corner, the Pig's Ear was my single best dinning experience in Dublin. Great but unpretentious service. Ever changing and evolving menu (three different menus for my three visits each one year apart). You really can't go wrong with a meal here.
A. J.
The food is good but quantity is very less. Please eat something before you go to this place or pick up something from somewhere else after dinner.
C. A.
A prized restaurant, perfect if you want to impress your guests. Service is impeccable; they don't have many entries in the menu, but it's probably to keep the quality higher on their offer. The kind of cuisine served is Irish but with a modern (french?) twist. Of course prices are pretty high and don't expect big portions; but the quality of everything is impressive. I'd recommend it for an important event or a romantic date.
G. S.
We were walking past here, it was lunchtime, so we thought why not.
First impression was of friendly staff and plenty of empty tables.
The food is adequate, nothing exciting but nothing awful either. Two courses were 24 euro and three 29.
The downside is the curse of the 'modern' restaurant, bare surfaces, bare floor, bare windows, nothing to soften the noise and boy was it noisy.
During our meal the owner, one of the owners? chef?, came out to talk to the couple next to us, pushing into quite a narrow space between tables and impinging on what space we had. Not so bad if it was just to say hello but she stayed there for ages chatting about holidays. Maybe she was the chef and that would explain the long wait between courses.
So the food - cold starter of beans and melon with an almost imperceptible amount of duck liver. Cod with cauliflower and mussels was too salty and was just what it said on the tin. Pudding of meringue with rhubarb was enlivened by 3 small pieces of ginger.
I think it was good for an impromptu lunch but not a place to go to, if you see what I mean.
S. S.
Thoroughly pleased with the experience. A little pricey but well worth it. Food is creative and delicious. Service was ideal - attentive but not overbearing. Make sure you have a reservation. I suggest finishing the meal with a properly-made Irish coffee.
B. D.
Exceptional service and food. Perfect for a private party (i.e. small wedding, birthday). Fantastic location overlooking Trinity College. Will definitely be back again. Highly recommend.
E. M.
Went here with a friend over the lead up to Christmas. It is very popular place, be sure to make a reservation. The staff are amazing. Food was fantastic, I had the most mouthwatering steak. Portions adequate, leaving some room for deserts. I'd recommend this restaurant!
M. S.
Really good food, nice atmosphere and very friendly, helpful staff. The lamb Shepard's pie and pan fried cod we're both great. The terrine appetizer was superb (with crazy little mushrooms!). Will go back next trip.
C. P.
One of the best restaurants in Dublin! The chicken melted in your mouth and was not dry at all, the service was excellent and the wine selection couldn’t have been better. If you are looking for a nice place to have dinner or lunch with great food, service and a view then come here for sure!
T. R.
Had dinner here last Christmas. The place is beautiful and the atmosphere is amazing. The quality of the food was top notch, but the portion sizes were a little on the small side and I felt I wasn't satisfied after dinner. I has the venison and it scrummy, I just wanted more! Definitely one for special occasions and it's kind of priced that way as well

Expensive, but innovative, great tasting food. Come early and you can get the early bird menu, which makes it a bit more affordable (29'euro for three courses, which is great value for money. Especially if you wish to the water. Later in the evening you pay almost as much for a single course)
Also good vegetarian options. The view is on the Trinity college sport fields, which is not that interesting. But you come here for the food.
R. B. (.
Good modern Irish seasonal cooking.Their dishes shine particularly in winter with lots of great game on the menu.
I just wanted to set the record straight on a review below - it is not a Michelin-starred restaurant. Maybe a Bib Gourmand - which it would certainly deserve
J. H.
Beat meal I've had in Dublin. The service matches the food and is excellent, really the best. Cozy dining area. Don't be afraid of the prices if you're hesitant - it is worth every euro. Michelin listed!
D. C.
Great place. The dining room is small, although not crowded, and has a great view of Trinity College and a park. Food was excellent, but portions could be a bit larger for the prices. It is a bit pricey-not outrageously so, but portions could be a bit larger. Service was excellent. Well worth it.
A. M.
This place rocks the moment you pass through the pink door, it's like going back to a party years ago music pumping, walking up the stairs the smell of food cooking, sound of people talking , laughing. You get that feelen yes this is the spot for me tonight. Great great food such a selection to choose. Depth in history.
*. *.
Medium sized restaurant on several floors. Food is meat-heavy, so not necessarily best for vegeterians. You get 3-course-menu where you have a choice of 4 or 5 dishes for each course. Quality of food is good. Quite loud when there are groups of guests, though.
M. A.
Excellent and friendly service, warm ambiance, not too noisy or too quiet. The food was interesting and original. What more could you want? We had a great time.
A.
Before my trip to Dublin I spent good 3 hours looking for a restaurant for our just one night here.
I read up on Irish food in general, looked up Irish recipes, watched videos and I came to conclusion that I will not enjoy traditional Irish dishes. So I went on a quest to find modern Irish restaurant.
Reading reviews and comparing them across multiple platforms (Yelp, Foursquare and Google) I came to conclusion that we have to dine at the Pig's Ear.
And oh buy, we were not disappointed!
First of all they have happy our dinner before 6:30pm 3 course is under €30, and 4 course dinner is under €40
We were late and I usually don't like the happy hour menu anyway so we ordered a la carte.
Pro tip: make a reservation. They are popular.
We had:
Earl grey tea cured salmon
Pork terrine with wild mushrooms
Ox's Cheek with escargot
Texel Lamb shepherds pie
All dishes were delicious! We were blown away with the presentation and the flavors.
L. D. N.
Amazing! Food cannot be beaten for taste and as for the presentation. Great service! They also host private events, small weddings, christening parties. And the staff is so attentive and professional that you just want to go back for more!
D. L.
walking past it once or twice. It's a very unassuming building slotted in between a group of more traditional restaurants and cafes. What makes it stands out is it's bright pink door - as well as it's wonderful food.
I got the tartare to start which, having never tried it before, was surprisingly crunchy and flavourful. For the main, to fit with the restaurant's theme, I got the pork belly. This was surprisingly tender and not too fatty as is usually the problem with pork.
While it is pricey, it's not nearly as expensive as some of its high end competitors. I'd wholeheartedly recommend The Pig's Ear for big occasions or romantic dates, it suits perfectly for both
S. K.
Had dinner here on Tuesday night, the service was decent and the setting was very comfortable and really trendy. The food was outstanding. It's a pricey enough spot but I would suggest you get what you pay for so all round it was good value. I will try here again for sure.
B. H.
Serious focus on quality ingredients from a chef who is not afraid to take risks – beef 'tongue n' cheek' Guinness Pie, any takers? Clever balance between wholesome, rustic, and sophisticated dining, and I always feel I should eat here more. The restaurant is crammed into several upper floors of nice old townhouse on Nassau street and there's a option to sit at the 'chef's counter' and have a tasting menu for €85. Never tried it, but I'd like to. Otherwise the food is good value for what it is, and as usual in Dublin there's good early bird options that won't break the bank.
A. M.
Mini Michelin feel to this restaurant - you won't get a table without booking in advance. Split over a few levels in a house environment. Tasty dishes to a very high standard. Perfect for a special occasion.
S. K.
Fantastic food and really friendly staff. Booked for 3 people on the day and it wasn't a problem. One of my favorite places in Dublin. The walnut whips were perfect accompaniment to coffee.
L. H.
Wow, a truly divine meal and one of the best lunches I had in Dublin! Beautiful presentation that's truly gourmet, with playful colors and surprising textures (e.g. mini scooped balls of cucumber, toasted oats on roasted duck, rhubarb mousse). Felt authentically french with many of the servers speaking fluent french, on-point service and attentive to refill water, reset napkins etc. The bread basket was freshly baked and warm, I will highly recommend the 2-course lunch option! Or 3-course, if you find room for desserts.
P. t.
Last night in Dublin so wanted to treat myself. Fabulous meal with a bit of a view of the Trinity cricket oval. Lots of flavours, had the Earl Grey Tea Cured Irish Salmon, Guinea Fowl, and Buttermilk Junket
Y. T. L.
I tried getting a reservation on the weekend but it was fully booked, so I decided to walk in on a monday evening around 8pm and I guess it was my lucky day. We have read so many things from various different websites and youtube videos about this amazing place.
Its upstairs and very typical classic restaurants that I've been to when I was in Dublin. Very clean, and lots of patrons wining and dining. I can't comment too much on wine as I am not big on that. We started off with a dish sorta reminds of tartar but it was made with liver, pork. It was really tasty and went well with the bread as well. I didn't taste any gaminess from the liver and it was somewhat smooth, but not like the consistency of something like tartar.
Next main course, I got one of their most popular dish from instagram and also someone rated this as the best Sheppard pie in the world. When it came, it was really hot served in a tiny small cast iron pan. When you press into the potato top layer there is a crisp but it becomes very creamy and then the filling of the lamb just pops out at you. The taste is just as good as it smells. Very tender meat, and you can taste a hint of the Worcester sauce. As the side dish we got the broccoli and I wasn't expecting too much, but it was really well paired with the sauce and the pork shavings (I assume), and I said. If kids who hate vegetables will surly like this plate.
I love my own experience here, and the waiters and waitress was pretty good, not the best, but good enough. I can see why this place has earn its Michelin star. I would most definitely recommend this place to anyone who comes to Dublin and try to make a reservation.
A. O.
I have not been there in a while, but it was a dinner to remember.
Clever, sensible (French?) twists over first quality Irish produce.
Clean flavours, clear presentation, serene ambience.
A bit rushed because we were on the early bird special offer but the service was subtle and polite about needing the table.
S. D.
The portions were tiny and the prices were large, but the food was tasty. Good for a special occasion. I had the lamb, which was excellent. Great romantic atmosphere looking over Trinity's College Park.
T. S.
Absolutely a great place. Kind and observant staff, good food in a league above many other places and the prices are fair. I will definitely come back to this amazing place - hopefully sooner rather than later.
M.
I have never had food this good. Heavenly experience. Shepherd's pie is absolute quality. I'll highly recommend this place. You made this Canadian customer very happy.
B. L.
Its reputation as one of the best restaurants in Dublin is well deserved. I nevertheless found the prices quite reasonable, especially for early dinner. I might add however that the restaurant gets quite noisy. I strongly recommend this restaurant.
E. F.
This was definitely the best meal we had in our trip (to Dublin for work, plus a few days in Venice). It was relatively expensive but not much more so than a number of other places we went to that paled in comparison, and given what we ordered here overall it was a much better value imo. I don’t give five-star reviews often but this place definitely earned it for me. Hopefully next time I make it to Dublin, this place is still around and still as great.
We had (with our two young children):
- cured salmon, delicious and almost but not quite raw in its texture
- terrine, very meaty and made us want to try to make terrine at home some time
- venison tartare, maybe a bit too much mustard in it, but was very good despite that with great texture from the chopped meat
- beef cheeks, tongue, and marrow, each being quite awesome, though personally the gelatinous quality from the collagen in the cheeks made this really great
- bbq pork belly, super flavorful and tender/melting bite
- dark chocolate tart, very dark and accompanied by a delicious black cherry sauce
The staff was also great, and we actually appreciated the somewhat loud atmosphere (perhaps exaggerated by the large group sitting next to us), since it made the squawking of our one-year old a bit less noticeable :)
Z.
This really is cooking of the highest standard. St Tola Ash goat's cheese with toasted buckwheat and beetroot puree is a riot of flavour and imagination. Pork belly with asparagus, peas and lakeshore mustard is astonishing: pretty much every array of pork flavours and textures you could possibly imagine, on one plate. Lots of playful desserts, with thematic riffs on kids' pantry treats (Snickers; Hob Nob biscuits), and the cheesecake pudding coming in a layered jam jar wrapped in 1960s stripy red paper. Service is great too: on the top floor it would have been so easy for us to have dropped off the radar, but our waitress was a model of charm and attentiveness. One very disappointing, but perhaps unavoidable flaw in a three-flight Georgian building: nothing whatsoever for disabled guests; they're out.
P. J.
Awesome food and awesome service. You can't go wrong with this place. We held a 4 hour business meeting here and requested a quiet space which was more than adequate. The waiting staff were fantastic.
S. R.
Very nice location on upper floors, so you can enjoy the delicious meals in a quiet and elegant (but not stiff) sourrounding. Had lunch there, but next time I will definitely go for dinner. Recommend reservation.
E. R.
If i could give more than 5 stars I would. I won't lie I can be very fussy about tables and service etc and when we got there I did ask could our party move tables. They graciously obliged with no fuss and moved everything for us. In addition to this the food and the service was probably the best I've had in dublin city (or anywhere probably). Everything was presented beautifully and altho the portions weren't big you definitely didn't go hungry, they were just perfect. They've made me a life long fan, and will definitely be back!
E. W.
I was lucky enough to get a table without a reservation on a Friday evening. Since I was both tired and hungry I decided to go for the a la carte menu starting with the terrine, then the ox cheek, and finishing with the rice pudding. The terrine could have used a bit of foie gras or something a bit fatty to help smooth out the texture but was otherwise perfect, the ox cheek was absolutely divine, and the rice pudding was very well made with a refreshing zest. The total damage was a 52 euros for one which I consider very reasonable given the quality of the food. Service was friendly and overall good as well.
K. K.
Really nice setting. The table was a little small for 4 people but the food was great. The early bird menu is great value.the staff are very attentive and genuine.
L. L.
Great small space. Bright and airy and great fresh food. Fish was well cooked and interesting plating. Reasonable prices. Had the lunch menu on a sunny day and was not disappointed.
M. H.
Went here a year ago and still think back fondly for my meal. It was one of the priciest places we went on our trip, but was also the most exceptional. Well worth the detour!
J. L.
Good quality food , professional friendly staff. Downside : poor vegetarian options, the only available options on the menu not appetising. Highlight : All meat dishes are excellent - as per feedback received from friends .
W. B.
One of the only restaurants we found open during the storm scare in Dublin when almost everything was clased.. What a treat! Interesting menu and beautifully cooked food. Pleasant knowledgeable staff made this one of our best evenings in Ireland. Definately worth a visit.
A. H.
Phenomenally good food, matched by great value on the €20 early menu. Pity that the staff were rather unfriendly which gave the place an unwelcome feeling from the beginning. Decor was nice, but they have certainly crammed too many tables into the place, and pretend the nicer window seats are reserved if you choose the budget option.
K. M.
Probably my favorite restaurant of all time. Food is always superb and innovative. Focus on Irish ingredients. Staff excellent. Our one essential meal when we are in Dublin.
T. L.
For an amazing unforgettable culinary experience in the city center, Pig’s Ear is definitely at the top of the list. The entire experience from beginning to end is phenomenal. The atmosphere is a bit dark and moody and feels a bit more like a house than a restaurant. The entrance is a little hard to find as it isn’t well marked, but head up the stairs and the hunt will be worth it. There are not many tables inside, so definitely get a reservation if possible or the wait may be quite long. There is a nice small bar to wait at though if needed. The wine list is incredible with a ton of great options, and several that are pretty affordable as well. The rioja was very nice and went well with some of the heavier dishes. There is a choice of tasting menu or a la carte. I opted for a la carte and got the venison tartare and pork belly. The tartare was phenomenal, definitely the best venison I’ve had as it was tender, beautifully pink, and chewy. The pork belly was an immense chunk of pleasantly fatty pork with a great sear and texture. The meat was super filling but didn’t feel too heavy due to the great sides. The potatoes on the side helped as well. Service was very quick and friendly and helpful with the wine and menu. The meal can take some time to enjoy, so leave plenty of time to enjoy the full experience.
J. T.
Wow, this place is incredible! Beautifully plated food, phenomenal flavors and a great atmosphere. I had the deer tartar, cod and cheesecake. I’d definitely come back!
B. C.
The dessert was the best part. I had the cheesecake, friend had something with little marzipan fruit things. Shepherd's pie was very tasty, and the carrots as a side we delicious.
J. M.
Wasn't overly satisfied by the service. We had a number of staff tending to our table which inevitably lead to being asked the same questions from different staff. Otherwise a five star.
Good food.
D. N.
Delicious with a warm and elegant atmosphere
J. D.
One of the best Dublin restaurants. Local, fresh ingredients prepared with creative flair, great breads and starters. Some of the best fish I've had in the city (black sole, hake, monkfish). Located across from Trinity College and close to many venues; we dined here before walking to the Abbey Theatre for a performance if Othello. Highly recommended.
A. G.
Incredible flavor and presentation. Some of the best food I have had in my entire life. Service was superb with a light and friendly atmosphere.
N.
It is a great restaurant BUT - and that's only my opinion - the food is only very good. Would expect from a Michlen restaurant to blow my mind... Unfortunately it didn't happen and the price tag for the experience I've got was a bit expensive. With that said, the service IS great, the food IS very good although not brilliant (I'll say again - it's only my opinion).
C. H.
Dinner was lovely. Not impressed with the desert pavlova. Nothing like pavlova. I asked for some cream and I was told there wasn't any. As for the chocolate ice cream on the top. It looked like something the dog had done. The whole thing didn't look right. I'm very sorry for being so blunt.
D. M.
Lovely place and food was delicious.
F. L.
This is such a quality place but I don't think we would have chosen to go in here if we had just been walking past it because the pink door doesn't really reveal the top notch food and service behind it.
Me and my partner only knew of this place because we were staying in the Pembroke Townhouse, a superb B&B near Ballsbridge (D4), and there was a book there about different restaurants in Dublin and the review said, 'this is a must-visit-restaurant'.
Sooo glad we followed the advice and I think we were lucky too because we only turned up on a Saturday at lunch time without booking a table and they just as well managed to squeeze us in. It was busy the whole time, the food was excellent and staff very friendly and knowledgeable. If I'm ever in Dublin again, will definitely go for seconds!
C. O.
Great venue spread over a number of floors. Super food and very friendly staff... ask for "Brad" he will look after you. All that said he is the food that I would go back for top notch.
C. O.
Grabbed a fixed 3-course lunch there and massively impressed with the food. Some very smart twists and turns and smart presentations, but still keeping good quality Irish food clear and present. Looking forward to return
R. D.
Had a great eating experience with 12 colleagues in a separate room on the fourth (?) floor. Good food, good wine and good service. What do you want more? We wouldn’t know!👍
D. B.
This place is unmissable. Although not cheap, the high quality of the food ends up justifying the expense (about 50€pp for two courses à la carte with wine). We had the pearl spelt risotto (which in Italy would be called a "farrotto", by the way) with truffle, sweet corn, crispy fennel salad and pine nuts: a glorious experience of subtle taste and perfect cooking (the spelt, or "farro" as it would be called in Italian, was cooked until it was soft enough but still "clicking" under the teeth).
My partner then had the haddock while I tried the very tender ox cheek + tongue + bone marrow with mushrooms: everything was perfect. Two glasses of wine, one relatively expensive at 12€, and one at a sweeter price point of 6.9€, were both pretty good, as was the irish coffee and the dessert we shared. The relatively small, cozy wooden room adds to the charme of the place: service seemed a bit impersonal, although I don't really care for anything more than politeness when being served in a restaurant.
D. B.
I was really thrilled about visiting The Pig's Ear (I had heard many good things about this place), but I was, unfortunate, disappointed. Firstly, they had forgot our booking, but they did manage to fit the four of us in, which was positive. Secondly, the food and the service from the staff was really disappointing. I had the Duck dish and it was dry and overcooked.
M. H.
We stopped in without a reservation and under a time crunch and were still able to enjoy delicious main dishes and a side to share. Excellent service and food cooked with character.
H.
Ate our last dinner in Ireland here and if you haven’t gone, you surely need to! Everything we had was amazing, the service was perfect and the atmosphere was beautiful.
F. M.
My favourite restaurant in Dublin - a pleasure to dine here!
M. R.
My wife and I loce to try food and new places, found this place online and later today we saw it while walking around so we had to try it, food was really good, tasty, elegant presentation... service was really bad, it's a shame a place with this food and setting has this kind of service, our waitress had this I just want to be over with you attitude that's to explain, she started with no introduction of the place, the food or herself, our welcome was "are you ready to order", we were not, we had questions and got super vague and short answers, we proceeded to order with the same questions we had, later on it did not get better, she took her time (a long one) to refill the wine, put the plates in front of us without any word about what were about to eat, forgot we order dessert and came to ask if we wanted the menu, etc, etc. Gave 3 starts thanks to the food, service was zero starts. With so much goos choices in Dublin for goos food, they really need to improve tge service.
K. M.
Great tasting food that can be a little out there, but gets you out of your comfort zone to try something new. Best of all, no pretense...just a nice place with excellent food!
N. F.
I come here every visit to Dublin. The soda bread and salted butter and the cheesecake are reason enough. The ambiance, friendly staff and generally delicious dishes inspire return trips and referrals to friends.
M. B.
Delicious food and nice atmosphere beautiful setting friendly staff. Be prepared to climb stairs! No cocktails only wine and beer.
K. B.
Food was amazing. Really great quality. Went with my parents and they loved it too. Nice atmosphere.
C. H.
One of the few places in dublin that produces high quality Irish dishes. You wont find Guinness stew on their menu but you will get excellent local produce prepared by world class chefs
J. W.
The setting is great and the atmosphere quite sophisticated, but I wasn't totally blown away by the food.
It's good and interesting, but not spectacular, especially considering the average price.
J. H.
Outstanding service and food with a depth and refinement of peerless subtlety
Excellent wine list and some cheeky choices to whet the appetite. The crab starter with pickled khol rabi was delightful. For mains, shepherd's pie was elevated to another plane, while beef cheeks and tongue plumbed depths of intensity of flavour that was matched only by the sheer unctuousness of the beef-marrow which melted in the mouth. Mmmmmmmm.
Service was careful and attentive: well done! You made a special birthday even better! Thank you.
c. m.
Amaizing restaurant
We went in for dinner with our family, had the tartare to start and the slow cooked beef check for mains,my wife had the cured salmon and cod for main, all fantastic,my kidds had the shepherds pie for main, was nothing left in their plate!!service it's great,
V. J. G.
Great chill spot for a nice dinner. Food was delicious. No cocktails though, so at most simple mixtures like gin and tonic or whiskey and ice.
R. V.
Wow, truly amazing spot. Very good staff and the food is even better. Had a brilliant lunch. Make sure to make a reservation though.
A. C.
Cosy atmosphere with substantial & tasty food
T. M.
Nice enough setting. I wasn't that impressed by the food. It wasn't bad, just not to my taste. Service was good. Prices normal for this time of restaurant.
B. P.
Quaint Farm to Table Restaurant. Short, but decadent menu with a wide range of meat options. Each dish was nicely presented and every element was clearly well-crafted.
P. H.
Best food in all of Dublin. Hands down, must eat here.
Whether you are a local or a tourist on holiday, a meal at The Pig's Ear is an absolute treat which can please all of the senses.
A. R.
Really enjoyed the food, wine and the whole experience. The private dining room was excellent. Would unreservedly recommend it for a special celebration.
Y. M. A.
It is a nice place to dine. The place looks more suitable for business people. The food is nice and their cheese cake is fabulous.
M. H.
Ate here before going to the movies, so only had time for a main course. Will definitely back to try more of the menu. Great food.
J. M.
Great food and top class service. Definitely one of the top restaurants in the country. Thanks for the delicious food. We’ll be back.
D. B.
The food was delicious, the main thing that has made us decide we would definitely return is the excellent service the waiter were very polite and available.
A. B.
Good food and very pleasant service. But the tables are uncomfortably close. And the loud heavy beat music dreadful. That would put me off going back there.
T. J.
I've been here on valentines day. It's very good, but not good enough to be worth 60 euro. There are better restaurants for this or even lower price. But maybe it was just valentines day overpricing.
a. r.
One of the best restaurants in Dublin city. Food is amazing and influenced by seasonal produce. With beautiful views over Trinity College and amazing staff, the Pigs Ear is one of the best.
d. g. o. s.
A bit disappointing as was looking forward to this Dinner. Quite pricey with sparse pickings on your plate. Food was good but too little of it!
A. V.
An amazing place, great service and lovely food
A. M. Q.
Great staff, food. It was our office party but absolutely no compromise on quality or service. Thanks to all at the Pigs Ear for a great night. Regards Alan.
Y. E.
Excellent food. But the demand for at least minimal order was too aggressive. This should known when reserving.
T. M.
With a lot of effort I found a restaurant called: The Pig's Ear. Behind a narrow doorway with a black awning -- that you're sure to pass up if you blink -- lies a modest one room with eleven tables. This establishment would have a line out the door had it been in San Francisco. Affordable lunches (2 courses @ 15,95) and early bird dinners (19,95) that are a revelation at what's to come in Dublin.
Every meal is started off with Ireland's mainstay, brown bread. Our starter consisted of a salad with black pudding, transparently thin apple slices, fingerling potatoes, watercress, garlic aioli and served on a wood cutting board. The mild black pudding was like chocolate cake with steel cut oats lending a toothsome quality and there was no metallic taste of blood.
Organic Irish Salmon, tiny shrimp, sea beans, almonds on a bed of potato puree and finished with a lemon butter jus. This is exactly what I was looking for. It was modern and clean, but took advantage of the abundant natural resources that Ireland used to export. The Salmon was still pink in the center and the skin crispy. The rich and buttery jus seemed to cleanse your palette after every bite, preparing for the next.
Homemade brown bread ice cream with yellow man. What's yellow man, you ask? It's honeycomb. Honeycomb crushed into small bits on top of our ice cream, loaning a sort of bitter and burnt note that would be unappetizing on its own. But, with that sweet and creamy ice cream, it turned into a nutty component.
This place is amazing and I just hope that Dubliners are realizing what a jewel they have in the city centre.
A. T.
Great food and drinks, staff were also amazing! Nice decor, perfect for a dinner for two or four!
H. L.
Good but the carrots were sandy (yes, like nobody washed them) and the waitress a bit rude but only at first.
K.
Really lovely. Clean fresh food cooked beautifully. The lunch time 3 course deal is great value
A. Ó. S.
You really wouldn't know what it is because all you can see from the outside is this small, brightly coloured, fancy, pink door! It looks great, it's quaint and food is good. Recommended.
D. B.
Good food, but felt a bit expensive for what you got in terms of what you got. Could have given a bit more or had more bold flavours for me.
M. C.
Cozy yet sophisticated. Marvelous Irish food with a gourmet twist. Friendly staff. Compliments to the chef!
B. B.
Excellent lunch! Great quality food. Friendly and efficient service. The windows allow view across over the Trinity College.
K. V. K.
Marvelous food, fantastic wines excellent beers, comfortable decor, most accommodating staff. Really worthy experience!

Incredible food. Warm Irish Hospitality. You must take time to dine here.....call early for reservations!
S. D. O. C.
Food was quite underwhelming for the price of it. Pleasant surroundings but a bit bare, staff were very friendly and on point.
S. T.
Excellent food. Great service. We enjoyed the whole evening.
S. S.
My cod was excellent, service was reasonable, as were the prices relative to the caliber of the experience. Recommended for a decent night out in Dublin.
D. M.
No words can do justice to the Pig's Ear.
B. S.
Really delicious food. Great service and atmosphere. Quite expensive but worth it.
G. S.
Great restaurant. Food is exceptional and the venue is well done -- they do a lot with limited space.
J. K.
Excellent food. Only problem was that there in no beer on tap. Just bottles.
W. A.
Very classy and the food was freshly prepared and very tasty. Be sure to get a reservation ahead of time (limited seating)

B. O.
Beautiful food.. exploding with flavour in perfectly small potions! Highly recommend and will be back.
o. o.
Food was ok. The problem is this place lacks atmosphere and service isn't great. So many loud groups .
A. G.
Decent food, but I felt a bit overpriced for what we actually received and seemed lacking in any kind of atmosphere.
L. S.
The food is really good, the service is quite good also. Design-wise this place is nothing special, but it is looking over Trinity which is quite nice.
C. M.
Great food and we enjoyed our night although we had to wait nearly an hour between starter and the main which was disappointing.
M. C.
The food is another level. I had beef tongue and it literally melted in my mouth. So good!
J. C.
Wonderful, inspired food. Fantastic staff. Had our wedding here and it was just perfect
C. H.

Great location, fantastic food and great service by knowledgeable staff who will make you feel welcome and are unobtrusively at hand whenever you need them to be.
J. C.
Great food, maybe a bit expensive but worth every penny
J. C.
Great food, portions could be a little bigger (side dishes) hence four stars and not five.
S. M.
Best restaurant in Dublin. Excellent staff and good quality Irish grub.
S. F.
Housy yet minimalist interior. Every effort is put in the food, which is a piece of art. I recommend the chicken liver pate. Pricerange: not for students.
J. m.
Food is amazing! Very well thought out. The service was excellent and very prompt
R. M.
This is a must stop on all my trips to Dublin. Exceptional food. Creative dishes. Never disappoints!

Creative, innovative, tasty food. A bit pricey so best kept for a treat!
S. D.
Nice ambience and service. Good food. Limited assortment of spirits - only irish and vodka!

The food is great, though the place itself is unreasonably overpriced. 5 euros for a bottle of still water?.. Really?

The best Irish Restaurant I've been since I moved to Ireland 2 years ago. The quality of ingredients are amazing and the chef who created the menu is a true artist turning everyday food into a fine dining experience.

J'ai adoré y manger, nous avons passé un agréable moment à dîner

(Translated) Traditional place on the first floor, very nice, very attentive staff, the kitchen is excellent.
My opinion about what we had for dinner is the following:
The starters are good, the beef “stew” is very good, an excellent and very innovative Risotto, the deer is a magnificent dish, I think it is the best deer I have ever tasted, good wine list.
Highly recommended place.
Appropriate prices.

Precios apropiados.

(Translated) Great restaurant with great food and services. Had my lunch there without a reservation, glad they still have empty table for me. Lovey atmosphere. Worth to visit.
The Michelin Bibendum restaurant, although there may be empty tables at noon, it is recommended to reserve seats in advance. You can choose a two-course or three-course set menu, the price is not much different, but the dessert is not amazing, you can choose two directly.

米其林必比登餐厅,虽然中午去可能会有空桌但还是推荐提前预定座位。可选择两道或者三道的套餐,价格不是差很多,但是甜点不算惊艳,可以直接选择两道。

(Translated) We loved it.
The door was locked even though the restaurant should have been open. We rang the bell and were warmly welcomed. The supplier had closed the door.
The meal was delicious. We took the 3-course menu (see photos).
The staff was very friendly and accommodating.
If you are looking for something special and have time, you should stop here.
