Since we had nothing planned for this loooong weekend, I decided to take hubby & boys to the much anticipated Vela!!!
Let me be clear. I love buffets. The others were not so enthusiastic. The boys were like: it has a 3.3 rating on Google. Why are we going there?? (Bcos Mummy wants to go)
I had called a day before to make reservation for five ppl. When we got there, there was no sign of our reservation, but they managed to accommodate us. We were seated on the ground floor, but the area was a bit cramped.
We started with dahi bhallas & chana chaat. The female chef approached us to enquire if she could get us anything. The hubby wanted samosas, which she freshly fried for us. Naans were also being made fresh to order. The staff were very polite & attentive.
There are 3 cuisines. Mediterranean, Pakistani & Chinese. Plus desserts. There was chicken corn soup as well but we never saw it, until it was time to leave. All dishes were chicken based, except nihari. The Chinese gravy dishes were not being topped up, with the exception of sweet n sour chicken. The chicken on the Mediterranean side was overcooked & dry. The dish labelled prawns was actually calamari rings.
Their website mentions chapli kebab, seekh kebab, bihari kebab. But there was no bar b q items when we visited. The plates are quite small, like the side plates we use at home.
The husband's verdict was that there was plenty of variety but no taste.
The kids verdict: Never again.
My verdict: I will come back for their ala carte menu. But at €26.50 per head, including drinks, the buffet is a bit pricey.
The place is definitely a good addition to Dublin's halal scene. But it lacks warmth & consistency.

What a lovely addition to Dublin's culinary spectrum. After just attending couple of times, it has become my go-to place for any party of any size. Management is really flexible and friendly and they understand how to win a customer. And for that they have every thing at their disposal; from super delicious food to top notch ambiance and trained professional staff. Looking forward to try their newest additions with family.

Something special has opened near Dublin!
The food is gorgeous, you can find a lot of ethnic dishes, everything is so tasty and very well presented.
The venue is huge, they are very good at organising parties and events, and all the staff is very professional and helpful.
Last but not least it’s “all you can eat”… you pay when you arrive and everything is included, from starters to main dishes, from soft drinks to deserts.
I highly recommend Vela, and definitely will be back soon.
Thank you for the lovely experience!

Wonderful, high standards south Asian-buffet with, plenty of variety to go for. The chicken kebabs were a delight, not too dry and well marinated. Only draw back was I was too full to eat any more. Welcoming staff and great ambiance makes it perfect place to dine. Would definitely recommend, worth the money !

Visited Vela, after my friend had recommended me for Indian food.
Visited on a weekday evening.
The bottom section of the restaurant was packed.
Has quite of high variety items, not all of them for indian pallet but quite a lot.
Kebabs was something i was looking forward to but It was hardly even stocked.
We had to frequently request for items as it was not filled and its a shame none of the staff took the efforts to make sure.
I did love one of the kebab and an chicken curry, but rest did not appeal to the taste we were seeking or as my friend who recommended me i visited purely at the wrong time as his experience during afternoon was a lot of food, fresh and tasty.
Would like to try on a different time especially afternoon if this time i could have a different experience.
Great staff and a lot of indian variety. I was happy to see them

What an excellent restaurants in Dublin, loads of options, extremely tasty Asian foods, if you want to taste real Asian foods, you must come here. Some people had left negative feedback, that was the only reason that I was reluctant to come here, but I regret why did I get so so late. Thank you so much, especially to Sajjad Bhai who make the awesome nihareee.

Wonderful eclectic buffet with lots of tasty options and fresh naan. They surprised our birthday boy with cake, numbered candle, and singing. Way better than Cosmos. Has both indoor and heated, covered outdoor.seating. can't wait to return.

I have had their buffet thrice.
Twice for dinner and once for breakfast.
My experience for the first dinner was excellent as I went on Wednesday night so very less people were there. The Nihari was hands down the best and the roast lamb was tender and juicy. All other food was of high flavour and quality. I was extremely impressed with the ambience and the staff was very courteous. (4 /5)
The second time I went there on a Thursday night. Since more people were there , food dishes were ending very fast l. The BBQ station was struggling to keep up and we got our BBQ after we were done eating. Most highly rated dishes from our last visit had already finished and replaced with fillers like daal and rice. The overall experience was poor and a little bit embarrassing as we had guests this time. (2/5)
But the third time I went for Sunday breakfast and it was great. Everything was delicious. The Puri's are one of the best I have had in Dublin and quality and refill rate was extremely good. (4.5 /5)
Overall, there is no other restaurant in Dublin that serves desi food with an excellent ambience as Vela and I don't mind paying a little bit extra for that.
Special shout out to the staff overall they were extremely kind and courteous. We went with a friend who's dietary requirements were vegan and gluten free and the staff was kind enough to arrange a special meal which was not part of the overall buffet and went above and beyond to ensure that she was catered to.
Overall Vela is a great initiative to have in the Dublin dining landscape, I am rooting for them to work on their consistency and be even better and hopefully be a quality permanent fixture in Lucan.

The IndoPak community of Dublin have been waiting for a restaurant offering authentic desi food in a nice setting for a long time and
finally our wait is over as we have got the beautiful Vela restaurant offering delicious Indian/Pakstani food.
A big thanks to the owner for investing their money and hard-work to set up this beautiful restaurant.
Its the perfect place in Dublin where we can comfortably take our visiting friends and relatives as it offers good food in a beautiful ambience.
Other Indo/Pak restaurants normally charge 10-12 euros for just one curry dish or a Biryani so I think a buffet at this price is perfect for Dublin.
Also we cannot compare this restaurant to other places in UK etc as there is not a large customer base here.
The other Indian/Pak restaurants are either very small in size or lack food quality or too expensive.
This restaurant checks all boxes for us.
Its a great place for hosting small events like birthdays or Mehdi functions too.

Best place in Dublin for Dine in with open buffet where you can eat as much as you want and too many dishes to try. The staff is very welcoming and active and manager is so friendly he even brought us more fresh sweets to try and had wonderful chat with him about the place and food. 100 % recommended for the families and friends gathering. Will definitely come back with more friends.

Loved the food . As an Indian I loved it ,fresh Nan , lots of curries , biriyani. The best part is unlimited kebabs . Must visit
A. H.
Went there for an open buffet experience which was not great. Dessert collections are poor.
Toilets were not clean and no tissues were installed which made it worse.
The most bad experience was the price and they are not honest, the sign board told that adult is 22.95 euro, but u r forced to buy a drink for 4 euros, otherwise you will pay 24.95 without a drink.
Don't think I'll visit again

Stunning atmosphere, exceptional food, Halal .5 star all around
K. S.
Resturan palce is wonderful alot of parking
Design licatuon kitchen everything very good
Food quality as buffet its not easy to manage when its desi food alot of variety cant be fresh
So keep less quantity but best quality
People dont want alot of things but they want quality in the things which i felt was not there
Alot of improvements required
Staff was not working lookis they are passing the time need somw improvements in service
How u make 20 pieces of one Naan bread its not fair with desi people
If its buffet alot of food than why are the plates very very small
Please make the improvements and get the full advantage of the place you have ...
Quality
Service
Is the base of the business and it lack when I visited

Ideal location, free car park, friendly and welcoming staff. Space was clean and tidy with good taste of decor. Buffet was quite comprehensive with Indian, Mediterranean and Asian food options. Dessert section was best.

A great ambience and atmosphere for family dining or going out with friends alike. We recieved top class service. Its a nice addition to the scene of Pakistani Restaurants in Ireland.

Halwa Puri was good, Nihari was delicious, initially they claimed that tea was included in brunch buffet but then they denied giving us the second cup of tea.
Sweet dish in brunch was very disappointing . They charged amount for brunch was too much and the dessert presented in buffet were Lidl cup cakes
U. K.
The food is great and super delicious and the staff here is the most friendliest staff I have ever met.

Yesterday We went to this place as it was of a great hype everywhere surrounding us.. I must say it was worth tried and an amazing addition of halal restaurants in Dublin... All the things were halal and secondly the most imp thing, their reduced their prices too 😊😊😊 ( yes, u heard me right).,now the per person from Monday to Thursday is €17+€3 ( for unlimited refills of drinks) =€20 and friday to Sunday (I think €20 +3 unlimited drinks can remember exactly)..and if u don't want to pay for the unlimited refills then I think u can say that too while paying.. My daughter is 3 years old, they didn't charge a single penny from us and also we got free water for ours kids too... All the staff are very much Co operative, especially the guy who stands at the reception (forgot to ask his name, and shaheen aunty from Dehli)... The restaurant also made a small size cupcake for a girl,s bday who turned 6 yesterday and few of the staff came to her and celebrated her bday which was all for free... So i personally liked the environment and food too... Becoz they were lots of things which u can't get in 20 anywhere.. Although they were some pots which were empty, but to be honest u don't need them all, as, there are other lots of different cuisines u won't regret😉... My husband and I will Defo go there again in sha Allah in sha Allah..
