This restaurant was a great surprise. The setting is gorgeous and atmosphere calm. The staff were very accommodating and nice. We had dinner outside under the ivy canopy. The tables were nicely spaced there are heaters for when the climate gets chilly. The best part of this Doolin jewel is the food. We had the warm goat cheese salad and seafood with pasta. The meal were prepared to perfection. With nice balance of flavor and portions. In this small village this restaurant has big city quality. Great place to

This place was absolutely delightful. It’s charming, priced reasonable and the food was absolutely outstanding. We came across it by accident and I am so glad we did. 100% would eat here again… maybe even tomorrow.

Unfortunately there was no available table outside but that doesn't mean that dinning experience was less enjoyable. Very pleasant owner ( I presume that was the owner who seated us). The food was great, delicious chowder, perfect cod, great burgers for the kids.

Absolutely fabulous! We have arrived in the gorgeous sunny afternoon and got very lucky finding a free table under the fig tree in the Ivy Cottage garden. There is something about this place which makes you instantly calm and content. It's like this grounding 'breath in and out' feeling. We have ordered scampi and chips and Ivy Cottage Seafood Bowl. Food was fresh, very tasty, amazingly seasoned. My seafood bowl exceeded all the expectations. I washed it down with a nicely chilled glass of wine. It was a great experience. Kudos to all the staff too, lovely bunch. I don't know when, but I will be back!

Nice flavour of local atmosphere in this cottage by the river. Lovely place with outdoor garden and wooden tables under the trees where to have lunch after a cruise or a walk around Doolin. Friendly staff. Worth mentioning: selection of cakes of the day. Freshly made orange squeeze. We had delicious scampi and chips, then warm apple pie with cream and brownie.

The first restaurant in which I was ever refused a glass of tap water! I had no problem paying for it but I wasn't given that option. I refuse to buy bottled (plastic) water as it has a high carbon footprint. Food okay. Fish and chips(nothing special) and goats cheese salad. Goats cheese salad had too many green leaves. Choice of eating indoors or outdoors. We chose outdoors which was fine.

The Ivy cottage is hands down the best food we had in Doolin, we had lunch there just now and are thinking of being right pigs and heading back for dinner later. Sure who knows when we could be in Doolin again. Very relaxing setup, nice seats outside, fast service with very friendly staff.

Lovely staff and we had a great time visiting the cottage. It’s all part of the charm when visiting the smaller towns in co. Clare. The food was nice but we would’ve preferred a different ‘marination’ on some of the dishes like the chicken wings. Pasta & soup were very tasty and the burgers too

Second visit to this place, first we had scampi and chips in the garden and then we ate in the restaurant. Both meals top class, service was amazing and I would highly recommend the mussels 👌 we each had the honey and mustard salmon. Would eat it again and again it was excellent! Best seafood chowder ever! We were in Doolin for 2 days a few weeks ago and went to Ivy Cottage for an early dinner. The place was charming but what I remember most was the seafood chowder. We tried several others while visiting Ireland but theirs was the best.

Lovely little place for dinner. We had burgers; fish burger and double cheese burger and both were excellent! We drank some local beers and there was also wine available. Great service and atmosphere. Remember they close at 8pm though, so you will not be able to stay on for drinks.

Simply put, The Ivy Cottage is as good as it gets! The Grab Claws are to die for! The Atlantic Chowder, the Scampi and the Fish & Chips, all top of the class. No frills, just fine dining at its best. Highly recommended.

Beautiful place for a meal, great atmosphere. As a veggy the only real meal like option for a vegetarian was a vegan burger. I don't usually for for vegan food coz I find it doesn't taste as nice. Salad and soups are more sides/starters really. There's should really be more options for vegetarians, a Vegan burger or a salad aren't really good options. In 2021 it's so easy to accommodate for this as well it'd be great to see improved options for us. Something like a pasta option, veggy enchilada, veggy sausages and mash would have been great!

We were in Doolin in the beginning of June and I must say this was one of my favorite little restaurants. We visited twice - once for lunch and once for coffee. The staff was so pleasant including the owner, the food was great, and the outdoor seating was adorable. Worth a stop!

If you are looking for good quality food and a good atmosphere, then Sea Salt Cafe is the place. The cooked breakfast we had was the best we've had in a long time including in the UK. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Just remember no ATM'S in Doolin.

Visited this spot during the Cliff of Moher tour. The location, along a hill, is adorable and the staff were all very kind. Though I sat inside, the outside patio is definitely a reason to eat here. I ordered the soup of the day and it was sweet and delicious! For the life of me I can’t remember what it was but he did say curry. I then ordered the veggie burger which was stacked high and quite a sight. Honestly, it looked delicious but it lacked flavor, including the fries. It had all of my favorite vegetables plus a pesto sauce but for some reason it didn’t taste very much like anything. Maybe lack of seasoning? Not sure. It also was very messy and fell apart after 2 bites. I wouldn’t mind the mess if it had tasted delicious but that wasn’t the case. I appreciate the effort to have a vegetarian option but I wouldn’t come back for it. I would come back to have the (vegetarian) soups of the day on that outside patio though. (-:

I cannot rave about this place enough. They had the best fish and chips I've ever had in my life! They even had gluten free fish and chips frying it in a separate frier so there is little cross contamination for those of us who are very sensitive to gluten or celiac. I'm still day dreaming about this fish and chips. All their other food seemed amazing too. I got to speak with the owner himself and he was a great guy too. He went out of his way to help me make sure I could eat the gluten free fish and chips with the corn/mesa free flour they use.

We loved this place so much we went there for lunch 3 days out of the 4 we were in Doolin (was closed on Monday so probably would have been 4). The staff are very chatty and friendly, the food is excellent and so is the coffee. They adhere well to the covid guidelines in my opinion with staff wearing masks, disinfecting tables and plenty of hand sanitiser available. Dining was all outside and they have a covered in area if the weather was not great. There are exceptional views from their garden so we loved eating outside anyway.

A lovely restaurant with a beautiful cosy bigger garden with many lovely sitting areas. The staff is very friendly & kind. The food menu is great & versatile. We chose 2 craft beers. They were super tasty. My husband took the tasty juicy lamb burger with fries & I ate the beef burger with also fries . 2 lovely tasty plates of food & there was even room for dessert! I chose the banoffee cake & my hubby chose the lemon meringue tartlet. Amazing fabulous flavours & a cosy atmosphere too! There is a lot of space inside too.

Had a super lunch here today. A lovely quirky find while on a short visit to Doolin. We had superb chowder to share, followed by mussels and scampy and chips. Everything was sublime even the atmosphere and friendliness of staff and other diners. A gem of a find in glorious, busy Doolin. We spent some hours walking the Cliffs of Moher, took ages to find a bus back. Famished, we were thrilled to spot the wonderful place that is Ivy Cottage Café. Seeking lunch at the odd hour of about 16.00, we were enchanted with a plate of gorgeous Burren Smoked Salmon, with salad on exquisite Brown Bread. This is a well - run place. The proprietor us a most pleasant man, the serving staff charming & well - informed. One to which we will return

You really cannot beat sitting outdoors (in the Springtime), eating fresh Fish and Chips. Had a long chat with Frank, the owner, and we had mutual aquaintances. I felt my guests and I were treated like family - something that can be lacking along well-worn tourist tracks. The food was fantastic, generous servings, prompt, friendly and courteous service; even though the Ivy was busy. We were really looked after. Worth a detour, if not for food, then for a cold (or hot) beverage. Wishing you continued success.

One of the best fish n' chips in the west of Ireland, because of covid 19 regulations, you can't dine inside but the outdoor dining space is an experience on its own, and the staffs are the friendliest of all, should definitely try.

One of my favorite places in Ireland. The atmosphere is charming (especially on a wet, rain-in-your-face day). The food is outstanding (every time, everything). Frank and his team are highly professional -- treat them like real people and they are ultra-friendly (they made us feel at home on our first visit). We drove here straight from Shannon airport. Hint: Combine a meal here with a cliff walk with Pat.... The essence of Ireland....

Great little spot for a quick bite in the idyllic Fisher Street in Doolin. My go-to option following a day doing the Cliffs of Moher walk. It's a limited menu, and you're paying tourist prices (€10-€12 per meal), but the quality of the food is definitely worth it, as well as the effort that has gone into providing a genuinely quaint and welcoming environment. Food is prepared to order, so there's about a 10 minute wait, but with these surrounds you won't mind waiting. The garden seating is perfect on a warm afternoon, and the layout separates the customers from the bustle of the road, only metres away.

This is a lovely restaurant with both seating indoor and outdoor. We sat outdoors, it was lovely and peaceful, with the lovely sound of flowing water from the stream behind us. Just back from a great Easter weekend spent in Clare. The very last thing we did before returning home on the Monday was to get some lunch in this lovely restaurant. The service was great and the food was delicious. I had some of the best chowder I have ever had, while my girlfriend went for the vegetarian burger. She stated that it was finally nice to have a tasty vegetarian meal when eating out. Great coffee also. Would definitely recommend.

This is the best restaurant in Doolin and (probably Ireland). I dined here with my family in July of '19. We were warmly greeted by the owner in this adorable cafe. We all ordered different items from the menu. We all were very pleased. It was clear to us that a lot of care and culinary talent and knowledge was executed for each dish. My very picky daughter didn't leave a single grain of rice from her chicken curry on her plate. The homemade pasta was amazing. Do yourself a favor and skip the pubs for dinner and go to The Ivy Cottage Cafe.

Probably my #1 favorite, most memorable food stop during my entire time in Ireland. We almost missed it when we considered another place nearby, but opted out when a tour bus dropped off 100 people there. Do yourself a favor stop here before AND after the cliffs, or anytime you're near Doolin; you'll be greeted by the warm atmosphere and enticing aroma of the kitchen. Hell, I'd come here even if I weren't close by. Let's start with the staff. Very warm and welcoming. The hostess set us up by the back section, outside, in a bar-like table with a great view of the stream. We ordered at the counter inside with a very friendly gentleman who made beer recommendations based on their local breweries. He was very friendly and made conversation when we told him we were stopping by Limerick. *I don't remember your name, but thank you so much for the recommendations! Our day in Limerick was great!* Our party ordered 3 Irish stews and I had the blue crab open faced sandwich. The Irish stew was phenomenal and hearty, probably the best I've had, with an enormous scoop of mashed potatoes in the middle. It was perfect for a cold day. The crab sandwich tasted fresh and was mixed with a delightful lime mayo. Absolutely delicious. We finished up our meal with a banoffee pie, and it was the best dessert we had in our entire time in Ireland. Overall, one of the best dining experiences I've ever had.

Wonderful food (try their BLT) and a friendly staff. The brown soda bread was so good that I purchased a loaf and the owner, Frank, emailed me the recipe. While visiting the Cliffs of Moher later that day, I realized I had left my sunglasses at the table. Frank was going to IKEA in Dublin later that week and was kind enough to meet me there to return them. Props to this establishment; if you're visiting County Clare it's worth a stop!

I had thought that the reviews are biased. While I was around visiting the cliff, why not give it a shot? I ordered Clam Chowder, a simple dish served elsewhere. But this French-Irish restaurant brought it out differently. Smooth-tasted creamy soup infused with small thin slices of fish, atop with herbs & prickled wedges. The best chowder of all!! Goat cheese wrap that followed, fulfilled my every nerve. The salad on the side is a must accompanion, bringing out the best of the cheese.
