What a delightful evening
The staff were warm along with the setting, over looking the water. Felt so cosy when it was Baltic weather outside.
The food was sensational from the rich wholesome crab risotto, we paired it with the lovely Asian crispy aubergine and tangy homemade pickles.
Next we shared the ray wing with autumnal veg matched the grilled light fish.
Finally pumpkin pie sweet and delicate and creamy all in one.
I’ll be back again for sure.

Really, really great place for breakfast/brunch/lunch.
The vibe is very chill, quite Scandinavian, alongside the river in a historic building.
Staff are really nice and attentive, and owner treats everyone as family.
The food lives up to the above. Both dishes we had for lunch packed a serious punch of flavour, as well as being well presented. Portions were generous, and the coffees were excellent.
Would highly recommend a visit for a chill, tasty, budget-friendly lunch.

One of the best restaurants I have had food from. Saw a number of recommendations on Google for this restaurant, so decided to pay a visit and we were not disappointed.
Had to stand in the queue to get a seat but the wait was worth it.
But their signature dish, the kimchi fried potato was already over. So, I have to go back again

Firstly at a time when so many places are having problems with service whether caused by a shortage or a lack of training, Ard Bia certainly has gotten service right. From the person that greeted us at the door, to the servers, manager and bussers everyone did a fantastic job. They were friendly and helpful without being intrusive. The server knew her stuff when it came to wine suggestions. The whole team seemed enthusiastic about what they were doing. The food was amazing. I'm a veggie and felt I had plenty of choice, not to mention they had a spectacular vegan chocolate tart for desert. We had an early reservation for my Mam's birthday, at no point did we feel rushed. I'll definitely be back.

Just an absolutely spectacular experience! Visiting from NYC (where I have eaten my fair share of brilliant meals) and this may have been my favorite of all of 2021!
Thoughtful and delicious plates, lovely service, 1L wine bottles, ultra fresh bread, size-able portions, and overall just top notch flavor. Would love to visit again if I’m ever back in town!

What a unique dining experience from start to finish. The location itself is one of a kind, with such attention to detail with the set up and décor. The staff were more than friendly and were helpful throughout the evening!
The food was delicious, everything was extremely fresh and tastefully presented - really great wine list to top it off.
We will definitely be back.

A wonderful and exclusive experience! Dishes are delicious and unique, prepared with care. All staff are lovely. Ideal place for a special day.

Food was delish, had the Spiced Aubergine, spinach n poached egg w Feta on Sourdough. And was just as envious of my friends Vegan choice black beans in avocado/tomato/carrot n more tasty stuff in a pita wrap w side of potatoes. Plus black chai was a treat not to mention t deserts were fab.

Such a gorgeous spot - cosy dining room (but still covid safe), fabulous wine menu and absolutely delicious food. Staff were incredibly friendly and helpful; a must visit if you're in Galway.

Right beside the Spanish Arch sits an adorable restaurant that serves mouth-watering food. We came for breakfast and would’ve gone back for lunch and dinner if our schedule allowed.
The smoked mackerel and poached eggs were delicious. The eggs were perfectly runny and the fish was just the right amount of smoky. We could’ve eaten that dish two or three times over.
This was also the first time we had Peanut Rayu, which is all the rage across Ireland at the moment it seems. It really paired well with the broccolini, fried egg, crispy kale and the fluffy bread. This dish could definitely be made vegan if needed.
The rest of the menu looked extremely appetizing, so as long as you like eating great food in a cosy room while watching a river flow by outside, this is somewhere worth visiting for you.
M.
Iconic place next to Spanish Arch. The food was a piece of art, so delicious and fresh. The service was brilliant. They make you feel so much welcomed. It is a must for weekend brunch. You won't regret it
C. M. L.
I love this restaurant. The food is always so fresh and imaginative. I always choose something that's not my usual taste and I'm never disappointed. The staff are friendly, genuine and helpful. Highly recommend.
L. O.
We really enjoyed our lunch here. It's a cosy attractive cafe by the water and the Spanish arch. The food was delicious and the staff were all so nice. We'll definitely go again.

Second time here now, car was clamped and paid €125 because the parking nearby is not with Galway city council…But the food was lovely and I would say worth the money even including the fine. I was recommended a vegetarian dish but I’m not vegetarian, but was amazed by it. Gorgeous taste, full of flavour. Ordered sausages as side and they were ok.
N. B.
Very nice atmosphere and even greater food! We tried a crab starter and a monkfish and a plaice with a side of greens. Everything was perfect and very tasty. It's one of the best Irish food restaurants I've been.
T.
Incredible experience. Amazing atmosphere. Great service. Food was delicious and reasonable value for high end, yet casual dining experience. Would recommend to anyone in the area wanting a great meal.
H. M.
I decided to come here for brunch on my last day in galway and I am so so glad that I did.
The place itself is beautiful, the atmosphere is great, and staff were friendly and often checked on me. The food was delicious and portions were massive!
Overall experience is delightful and I will definitely be back whenever I'm in galway again!
M. W.
It was a little creepy walking towards because it’s a bit away from the main area but that’s mainly just because I’m unfamiliar with the area. Edit: instead of following google maps here walk to the water and walk along the water. It looks super cute and not all creepy that direction
Come early! The potatoes were sold out by 11am but they looked super delicious!
Ordered the pancakes and aubergine tacos…. Soo delicious.10/10 would eat here again
F. A.
Very good service. Friendly staff. And the fokd was extraordinary. Good place to have brunch during the weekends.
L. J.
Couldn’t be nicer! Went to Galway for a weekend and here for brunch one day. It was so delicious we came back for dinner the next day - highly recommend!
B. F.
Great and creative looking food, but slow service. Book at least a week in advance if you want to get a table for dinner in a reasonable hour on weekends!
A. Á. G.
Right next to the Spanish arch, great atmosphere, service and food. The mackerel and tacos in the brunch menu were delicious!
T. M.
I cant really put into words the atmosphere in this place. its complete serenity and pleasure to the mind, body and soul. The meals were all mouthwatering and filling and delicious to say the least.
it was my birthday when we went so I did the Treat Yo Self mood and went all out, it was pricey but def worth it. All the food is organic locally grown and some foraged and they sell all local Irish products within there, got myself a Spring fragrance. Everyone was friendly too, its a great place for all moments in life, romance, fun, joy, laughter and all the below. Its worth a visit by a mile and a half
A. M.
I was told to visit this restaurant for breakfast or brunch and wow I was impressed. Now it was very busy when we arrived on Saturday for brunch, a queue out the door, but the manager came over very quickly and put our name down and we didn't wait too long at all. The menu oh my, I could have ordered everything on it! I ordered the pancakes with apple and ricotta, divine!! The staff were so good and service was quick. I cannot recommend this place enough!
D. G.
We loved this place! Was recommended by a friend back home and was so glad we had dinner here. Really trendy place right on the water. Excellent food. Even a good selection of unique gift items for sale. Definitely recommend if you’re in Galway and want something other than the numerous pubs that permeate the area.
C. B.
Absolutely the best dinner we had in Galway. KATHERINE WAS AMAZING. We discussed the menu, wines, and even pubs to visit after our dinner. She did not lead us wrong in anything. Adding to our list of favorites for our next visit.
C. G.
This was recommended to me by a friend and I'm so glad we made a reservation! We had an amazing meal in a wonderful setting. We were seated on the second floor with a great view of the water. Every course weordered was delicious and fresh! The wait staff was also extremely kind and offered suggestions for things to do in the area!
C. M. S.
I have been there with a group of friends for a Sunday brunch last August Bank Holiday. It was highly recommended by a local friend. The vegan brunch option was delicious and the service was great, Kate our waitress was lovely and the outdoor seating offered a great atmosphere. The only down point was the female hostess looking after the door and bookings. She took quite some time to come and talk to us and was quite rude explaining that they were not taking names or coordinating the queue for the outside tables and we should do it ourselves. Maybe she wasn't in the mood to work on a busy Sunday morning or to have to deal with tourists. If it wasn't for my friend's recommendation about the lovely food, we would not have stayed. But was worth it.
V. V.
Lovely place to have breakfast and lunch. The customer service is impeccable, people are always welcoming and smiling, the meals are served in a timely manner, beautifully arranged and very delicious. Coffees are very good too, plant based milks are available for lactose intolerant
Pastries and cakes are always looking great but seem to lack something - scones taste better if you couldn't tell soda was used, the carrot cake was slightly hard and too baked on the top, the cheesecake's whole combination wasn't really exciting and the gorgeous pear cake was slightly dry. To be fair there's a sign that the place is currently looking for a pastry chef so it does make sense.
But the ambience and the atmosphere are lovely. The savoury dishes are cooked to perfection and it's a must visit for a classic meal but also if you were vegan or trying to lower down gluten intake.
L. O.
Beautiful setting, located beside the Spanish Arch on the river. The food was impeccable, the fish was beyond fresh, and generous portions! All tables nicely distanced (for the times were in) worth every penny! Orange wine on the menu too, which is very rare! DELISH!!! Cannot wait to go back
E. S.
Great coffee, great brunch menu and frindly staff.
K. H.
This place is a little treasure! The brunch is spectacular and well priced, and possibly the best North American style pancakes I have had this side of the pond. Bookings are recommended for dinner. Their dinner menu is small, but delicious, with great wine pairings available. The staff are friendly and helpful, and do their best to squeeze you in even if you have not booked yourself in.
T. C. N.
Worth the wait for a table for their brunch offerings. Service is quick and friendly and the food options are delicious (catering for vegetarians as well). Try their eggs and ham - ham is beautifully sweet and thickly cut.
Looking forward to returning to give their dinner options a try.
J. A.
Might easily be one my my favorite meals I have had in Ireland. The restaurant is right by the water, all wood and natural decoration. Super earthy and natural. Fresh and local ingredients.
Highly recommend this place !
U. G.
The food was really delicious, fresh and seasonal. I was very happy with the pre-dinner vermut cocktail and all the vegan options offered. There is a choice of starter, main and dessert foe vegans, some vegetarian options as well. All sides can be made vegan. Service was excellent. Recommended to reserve in advance - we tried to walk in few times before when in Galway and it was always packed.
D. M.
Probably one of the nicest places to eat in Galway!
Honestly love this place, the food here is incredible and the everything is served with a friendly smile!
There is something for everyone on the menu and each dish is full of flavour. Great atmosphere, perfect for couples or a group of friends.
D. S.
The food is magnificent! Dinner upstairs was so lovely, such a cozy atmosphere. Have had lunch here as well and it was fantastic. Anything on the menu is amazing
C. V.
A beautiful place beside the river. The food is amazing. You have 2 different menus one for lunch and other for dinner. The desserts are delicious and homemade. Great place to go!
E. P.
Ard Bia is our favourite place to eat in Galway. The food, wine and service is all first class! I have some dietary requirements and they always go above and beyond to make my meal amazing. Highly recommended!
K. P.
Truly lovely brunch. The food was all delicious and the waitstaff were very pleasant and friendly. There was a wait of about 15-20 minutes on a Sunday morning around noon but it was well worth it. Got the Ard Bia baked beans with the added sausages - if you're not vegetarian that's the way to go. There were also a lot of delicious-looking baked goods but sadly I didn't get a chance to try them. Overall best brunch I've had in a while at an extremely reasonable price.
D. M.
Practically everything is delicious. I ate the honey ham (11.00) and was great. Just got disappointed with my Brioche custard bread, it had almost no filling, but the chocolate cake was amazing.
A. A.
Amazing staff and location. Came for breakfast and all of the baked goodies were making their way out. They have a small shop inside where you can grab a few bits and pieces. Jam, nut butter, elixers, teas and other treasures. Had the vegan hash. OMG delicious! Wished I could try all the sweets
R. B.
I'd been meaning to go to Nimmos for a while but always found it packed. By chance I was in the city in the morning and saw they were open at 10 for breakfast. The food was excellent, we had the spicy vegan breakfast and the mushroom, egg & halloumi on bread. Both were fantastic. The quality of ingredients really shone through. The vegan breakfast was non traditional offering variety to the vegan customer with quality that anyone would be happy with. The portions we generous and it felt like good value. I had an americano which was top notch too, light body but still hearty and a little bit of citrus. The service was quick and friendly.
M.
Favourite restaurant in Galway right by the river. Cosy, vintage looking place with friendly and slightly hipster vibes. Food is delicious and local. A portion of proceeds goes to a charity. Cocktails are available for order on Friday and Saturday. A lovely place to go for dinner. Make reservations.
T. B. L.
Planning our first trip back to Ireland for twenty months we took a chance on indoor dining opening up, booked a table here for our one night in Galway - and if for nothing else, we will go back there for Ard Bia. Katie's prompt and welcoming email confirming our reservation, the location, interior and wonderful service, the incredibly creative meal (the best vegetarian meal I've ever had)... All fecking amazing!
M. C.
We had the most fantastic experience visiting on 19/9/2021.The atmosphere from our greeting at the door, such friendly waiting staff and the most delicious food we've ever had was an excellent place to celebrate my husband birthday.. Thank you so much.. Will definitely go back and recommend to all my family and friends..
A. L.
Had avocado and egg with salmon. Tasted amazing. Flat white coffee was very good as well. Had a cozy window seat with a view of the water. Service was friendly and quick.
M. R.
Just had the kimchi fried potatoes, rainbow radish, alioli, sesame seeds, coriander, egg and bacon breakfast and I think it's the actual best breakfast I've EVER had!!!!! Wow!!! Daughter had the pigs on the green breakfast and said the same. Amazing food.
S. O.
Outstanding in every way. Great service. Great setting. Great food! Wonderful experience. Defined our second visit to Galway!
M. S.
Ard Bia is FABULOUS. Our first dinner in Ireland did not disappoint. This place looks very unassuming from the outside and during the day is a cozy bustling cafe. But at night in transforms into a romantic, homey, lovely restaurant. We ordered a smattering of dishes, all lovely, but pictured is the wild garlic and nettle gnocchi which was a standout. Wine and drinks were amazing, service was top notch, and the atmosphere cannot be beat. And all locally sourced! Can't miss in Galway.
M. M.
On arrival in Galway city, usually going further west, this is a wonderful stop. We love the atmosphere & applaud the smashing food. First class "Specials" - there was a stunning fresh Hake served with Kale & smashed potatoes & I had a wonderful Salad, brown soda bread & memorable hummus.
c.
Picturesque setting, cozy and just special. The food was amazing the tea was great. Imagine disappearing is a bustling city. Well worth the time to find this spot for lunch!
E. C.
Interesting tasty dishes, friendly staff and well priced. Would definitely come back! The location is also good - distant from the more touristic and busy area.
A.
I had an amazing time with great food and nice atmosphere. Staff is really welcoming. Would highly recommend
C. M.
Outstanding food, the best of Irish.
P. T.
Amazing place. Love the spuds there. Fantastic bunch spot. They where very good to us on lockdown. It's a shame they don't do delivery anymore.
P. S.
Food was absolutely amazing! I had ham with poached eggs and spinach on the toast and my gf had sweet potato with chorizo. Both of us were very happy with overall experience! Staff was very friendly and we really liked the buzz. 10/10 👌
J. R.
Came here based off a Rick Steves recommendation. The food was good. The whole restaurant had a middle eastern vibe including the food so I'm not sure why it says Irish inspired 🤷♂️. It's a small restaurant with a nice view of the peer.
M. A.
Tasty if a bit pricey breakfast. Nice view of the river mouth as you’re just along the water in this building. Quaint vibe, pretty empty for a late breakfast around 11a.
A. N. A. T.
Food very tasty. Fresh and delicious with good range of choices. Top quality ingredients. Small range of drinks-small cans of beer. Service could be friendlier and warmer. Nice place though.
N. A.
Really wonderful food, with a local focus and diverse spices. We had harissa mussels, poached pears with blue cheese, and a locally raised ribeye, followed by some really excellent desserts. Highly recommended.
c. d.
The restaurant is very quaint & has a relaxed cosy atmosphere. The food is top class! Staff are friendly and attentive. Highly recommend this restaurant! Be sure to book
W. Y. C.
Excellent place for seafood! If you are planning to come, try to get a reservation! If you are just walking in, sometimes there are cancellations and they can slot you in. Timing is everything!
E.
The location was good and we even got a cute little window seat. I had the avocado and eggs and my partner had the BAP which were both very tasty. Service was amazing - very attentive and friendly and the cake we got to takeaway was almost better than the breakfast. Good coffee too.
A. S.
Beautiful food, amazing coffee and great service
S. S.
Amazing breakfast and service. Quality food. Around €15 per person.
A. E.
dishes all very tasty, especially the pork belly. prices very reasonable. wouldnt recommend the desserts.
H. J.
Delicious, the best restaurant in Galways. monkfish and the pumpkin risotto are superb as well as the ribeye
J. Z.
The service was excellent, taking care of our table long after closing hours. The inside of the unsuspecting stone building is simple and homey. The food is local and organic and their menu was seasonal, using high quality spring ingredients. Our waiter even pointed us to a great pub with music for a nightcap. Though the food is more Nordic than Irish, it was the exact low key experience we were looking for
V. M.
Had a lovely brunch here. Food was delicious and the atmosphere was really nice.
E. S.
Lovely meal next tot he Spanish arch and the water. Great season menu.
M. B.
cute and great selection of lovely food
L. S.
Amazing pancakes (honestly, the best I've ever had!), generous portions of avocado toast, friendly staff and they even sell their cookbook so you can take their amazing recipes home with you. Well worth a visit!

Highly recommended for lunch in Galway! The food was fresh, delicious and surprisingly cheap. Very well located and cute/trendy atmosphere. Friendly staff
S. V.
Great food with local produce, very well seasoned and a great breakfast to start the day. Worth a visit, if you can sit by a window you have a beautiful view over the river.
E. E.
Lovely breakfast/brunch! Tasty and filling; I had the avocado and eggs with pesto, toast and spinach. Beautifully presented. Cosy little place, definitely recommend!
B. S.
Very nicely done breakfast. Very cute and cozy location right on the waterfront.
M. D.
The food was just incredible. The staff are lovely. Really beautiful spot.
M. W.
Had the pleasure of dining at this restaurant pre-pandemic. The food was creative and delicious, and the restaurant was absolutely adorable. Locally sourced ingredients with a cute little shop as well. Highly recommend for a lovely evening out- can’t wait to go back someday!
D. W.
The best pancakes in the whole wide world 🥞
G. M.
Excellent food, wonderful service, overall delightful experience. Highly recommend
T. K.
Best restaurant in Galway. Service is friendly and to the point. Atmosphere is quaint and the food is wonderful. Menu changes regularly with familiar favourites, keeps visits fresh. Highly recommend.

This place was INCREDIBLE. We got two of their daily specials. The portion was generous and the food was amazing. Don’t miss out on this great place!
D. M.
Fantastic little coffee shop and restaurant! Couldn't help but pick up some of the local produce and goodies they have on sale. If you are in town - you must visit!
G. X. H.
Great food, plating and ambience! Would definitely be back again. French toast was amazing and flavours were well balanced.
N. H.
Some of the best food I've had since recently moving to Ireland.
S. G.
Beautiful and cosy place to have a brunch ! The food Was just delicious and the price were reasonable comparing to the high quality food. I highly recommend this place.
It’s worth the wait.
M. B.
Great if you are vegetarian! Very cute with a local feel. Seated in a small nook that gave us an intimate dining experience.
J. K.
Really nice food , design inside is very rustic and traditional and staff are good craic
T. S.
This gourmet restaurant serves top quality food, in a breathtaking building near the Spanish Arch. The staff were friendly and polite. It complied with all COVID-19 regulations, so eating there felt definitely safe. One of my favourite places in Galway.
C. B.
Outstanding in every single aspect. Food, vino, service, ambience. Simply as good as it gets...
F. O.
Superb food and excellent service in surroundings that are the essence of Galway. Very knowledgeable servers give a very good breakdown of the menus if required and good knowledge of the wines they serve also. The star here is the ingredients that come through in each bite, fabulous sauces and foraged herbs and greens all in all three courses of heaven, highly recommend and pricing was bang on.
D.
Incredible food, the ingredients are amazing and local and fresh. Charge for the bottomless bottles of water but it goes to charity, when we went it was going to the people of Lebanon after the explosion.
The monkfish and lobster risotto is A1, and the vegan chocolate cheesecake was incredible. The staff are so lovely and help Make the atmosphere relaxed but well attended to
P. W.
Very tasty and excellent Food in a cosy Restaurant over looking the River Corrib.
P. R.
Had the avocado and eggs. Really good. Poached eggs done perfectly...Smoke salmon was the best I've ever had. Oh ye... the coffee rocks. Thanks!
A. C.
The food was incredible, a piece of art. And vegan and vegetarian options galore... However, the service was upsetting. I'd probably go somewhere else next time due to.
c.
Wonderful food and staff friendly and knowable about the food and wines and a charming location.
A. L. M.
Amazing food, beautiful design, great location. Best place in Galway
M. H.
Would gladly give this place 100 stars if I could.
Went there last night and had the tagliatelle. In my life I have had some wonderful tagliatelle but this was in a league of its own, the wine by the glass was excellent but the dessert — blueberry ice cream with mint meringues might have been the very best thing I have tasted ever!
B. L.
Beautiful food at a reasonable price.
Coeliac friendly.
Staff were very nice.
M. W.
For vegetarians like myself, who often despair at the variety of food on offer in hotels and restaurants, then this place is an absolute gem - Ard Bia at Nimmos in Galway, a spit of an apple pip away from the Spanish Arch. We are just back from a socially distanced, short break to the west where we spent a gorgeous evening in this restaurant, and a vegetarian menu that offered the most creative and delicious dishes we have tasted this summer. The staff are wonderfully attentive and friendly, and rightfully proud of their food and restaurant. After two days of quinoa burgers, lentil curry and nachos, Nimmos was a delight. Please pay a visit. Restaurants like this should be cherished :)
G. K.
Very enjoyable lunch here. Everything was top class. My ham sambo was beyond description. My wife had beetroot and goats cheese salad “to die for”. Excellent service and a proper coffee to finish
B. C.
An exceptional brunch! The ambience and decor are homely and cosy. The staff are so friendly and warm. The food was innovative and utterly divine. What more could you ask for! Don’t give this place a miss! Will definitely be back to give dinner a try when visiting again.
S.
It's not often that you have a dining experience that you will remember for the rest of your life. This was one of those rare times. The building is historic and beautiful. The interior is cozy, yet elegant. The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful. Most of all, the food was simply incredible. Fresh ingredients of the highest quality, creative and modern menu, and perfect portions. This is must-go while in Galway. You will need to make a reservation, however.
F. L.
The whole experience was 5*. The ambience, the decor, the service and all courses were just super tasty. Packed with flavour. But not too heavy. Just loved it all. Will be hard to beat on the rest of our mini break to the west of Ireland!
C. R.
Fabulous place for dinner. Walked in on a busy Saturday night without a reservation and was lucky enough to get a table by bar. Venison main course special was delicious as was the roast apple and toffee ice cream dessert special. Service was excellent. Relaxed atmosphere. Couldn't recommend enough!
A. M.
Pancakes with mascarpone is a masterpiece. Vegan food avaliable. Nice view from the windows
T. O.
Was here last night in the upstairs room. The food and service was impeccable, our waitress was very friendly and made some great recommendations, great to see such good staff being kept on after the covid closures. The owner was also very hospitable and is doing a great job with covid safety measures in place without feeling in the way at all. Would recommend everyone to visit here if in Galway!
R. B.
Myself and my husband came in on this random Tuesday looking for some fabulous food and boy, we did not get disappointed. We had the pickled herring and the fish broth as starters and the monkfish and hake as mains.. it's hard to describe how tasty it was... Also, I have to compliment the atmosphere amongst staff between kitchen and front of house. From both sides we were well looked after and we are definitely coming back and recommending this place to all our friends and family. Xx
J. F.
Excellent brunch in Galway! We had a few Irish fries during our visit and this was one of the best. Don't pass on their pastries either - we had a delicious rhubarb cake with fresh cream. Staff was friendly and space was cozy. It got crowded pretty quickly on a Saturday morning so recommend getting their when they open.
D. O.
Lovely food. Friendly staff. Prompt service.
S. M.
Very nice and helpful staff, the lunch was excellent for a very good price. The place is cozy, heartwarming, very well designed, but gives you somehow the "at home" feeling. The cakes are wonderful. I was in many restaurants but Ard Bia is in my TOP5. Thanks for the great experience!
H. F.
The food was excellent and the coffee was great too! We ordered from the brunch menu and would definitely recommend.
Q. V.
This place is really cosy and the service is great! We lived the vibe here as we were really well welcomed. Regarding the food, it was delicious. We went for the Connemarra Smoked Salmon and the Ard Bia Fry! It was really tasty, and the price is at the right spot. We would highly recommend this place as a shelter from the Galway rain! The view on the river is also worth noting.
A. C.
Very good food. Very nice people. Accommodating for allergies.
c. w.
Lovely quirky restaurant with five star food. Reserved a table here during the week. We were given a lovely snug which was fantastic as we were catching up with my aunt who was visiting from the USA . There is no kids menu but without us asking, the chef informed us of options available for my son. Thanks for an enjoyable evening
K. S.
One of the most delicious lunches I have had. The waitress was so lovely and helpful, it really made the experience memorable. Even gave advice on where else to visit in Galway. Highly recommend the Chicken broth with lots of lovely added fresh flavours and the chocolate brownie was to die for. Thank you!
C. C.
It’s a breath of fresh air when you can look at a menu and see a variety of different and unique dishes that you don’t get on every menu you trawl through. I was highly impressed. My friend & I visited for Breakfast and were not disappointed. We arrived to a que of people waiting eagerly at the door for it to open! It’s beautifully cute and huge inside and the staff all wear a smile (which is so important!). A great view over the water and you instantly feel relaxed. Portion sizes were just right and the food 100% delivered. I would go back time and time again! My only regret is not buying the cookbook before I left! My friend and I both had the vegan breakfast... that seaweed pesto... a thing of beauty and balanced the dish perfectly. If you’re in Galway, you must go.
H. P.
If you're looking for fresh food with a twist, definitely give this place a visit. I got what their version of beans on toast would be but in their case, it was with sour cream, beans and poached eggs on top. I enjoyed it but at the same time I'm not sure if I'd get it again. It's one of those dishes I feel like you'd try out and enjoy but wouldn't enjoy getting again and again. The place itself was so lovely though, right by the water. It's so quaint in there with the way it's decorated, it's simple yet home-y and the perfect place to read a book. Staff is very attentive and friendly. Only thing is is that you might have to wait a while to be seated as when I came in, there was already people waiting with menus in their hand to be seated.
C. M.
We lucked out showing up when we did without a reservation, because 10 minutes later they had to turn people away as they were full! Lots of wonderful dishes to choose from, I legitimately enjoyed every bite. The desserts weren't overly sweet too, which I liked. Would definitely eat here again and I highly recommend it to others.
A. O. K.
Ard bia spoils you in a rich, authentic aesthetic that is complimented by their sincere staff 👏
T. S.
The food here is absolutely delicious! The products are top quality. The wine list is excellent. The staff is friendly. The ambiance is nice. We had a fantastic dinner with my partner. I would love to go back!
M. S.
I lunch here regularly with friends and we love this restaurant. The food is always very good and served with a smile. The owner is usually present and she is very friendly and makes sure everyone is happy with everything. Would recommend to all.

Lovely food, pricey but you get what you pay for.
Would definitely go there again

Wortwhile to make a de tour for.
P. H.
Lovely place, really great pancakes. Really good pancakes. If you like pancakes then look no further.
O. N.
Omg what a wonderful place! We spent a weekend in Galway, we went for brunch on the first day and we loved it SO much that we came back again the day after. Beautiful food, details, super nice staff. Can't wait to go back!
E. S.
Ordered fish, on evening. It was lovely. Very unique taste on some stuff that I'll try to recreate at home myself. Maybe some potato could be added for the price. But good experience over all. Water was on table that looked like its free. But it's not. They should warn costumers about that by saying, not writing on the menu that can be easily missed.
E. A.
Fresh, delicious, and creative. Loved it!
C. M.
Beautiful lunch yesterday- great outdoor setup, lovely friendly helpful staff and absolutley delicious and inventive food😍
N.
Beautiful setting, next to the river. Great modern Irish food.
J. S. H.
The little house that contains the resto is charming and the space is well-appointed. The flavors of each of the courses were incredibly well-balanced. Really an amazing meal.
My only complaint is that the service was a little slow. I think they were being “European,” but shading past half an hour between apps and mains was too much.
A. D.
Absolutely lovely staff, gorgeous food
T. D.
The food, the service, and the atmosphere at Ard Bia are all outstanding. We had the cheese plate for starters and then ordered the John Bard and Hake for dinner. Each was different but exceptional. There is also a great wine selection.
J. H.
Such a wonderful, amazing place for lunch. Really peaceful setting along the river, great service and fabulous food. The all-day avocado toast and poached eggs are first rate, especially with an addition of streaky bacon. The ham and cheese sandwich was amazing. The soup is always hearty—today it was celeriac with toasted pumpkin seeds added in. Thankfully it seems to have been discovered by just the right number of people because the place is buzzy but very small. Well done, Ard Bia! We’ll be back.
K. K.
Best meal we had in Ireland on a two week trip. Pretty much the only place we ate that I would rank as up there with some of our favorites in NYC. They were the only place that managed to have seasonings correct, flavored balanced and interesting, foods not overcooked. Excellent service and really attractive, casual old stone building.
R. G.
Fantastic lunch/bunch. Dishes are balanced, and you can tell a lot of care has been put into everything here. The staff were lovely. The tomato and basil soup was wonderful, and they make their bread in house and it was glorious
A. S.
Beautiful location, very friendly service, and delicious home-cooked food! Also, the sign out front had me cracked up with laughter.
I.
A trip to Ard Bia is essential when I visit Galway. The only thing better than the beautiful location is the the amazing food. And the food is only second to the staff. Always friendly and warm. It is always worth the wait for a table and even when you don't have the time to spare, the staff will give a great recommendation for a nearby spot to visit. The sense of community, not just for food, but for all of Galway, is palpable in Ard Bia. The baked ham is the best version of an eggs Benedict I've had anywhere. I'd give this place 6 stars if I could. It holds a special place in my heart
M. D.
My wife and I went there about 2 months ago when we were visiting Galway and the Irish west. This place atmosphere is gorgeous, with a lot of details and stylish touches. We ordered pancakes and they were absolutely delicious. If you're visiting Galway, this place is a must go.
E.
Oh my gosh. This place rules. Our family of 6 had dinner here last week and had the best freakin' food EVER. The owner and wait staff were super fun too and really gave us their full attention. This was the best meal of our entire trip through Scotland and Ireland.
D. G.
This is a really amazing place to eat. Their food creations are absolutely unique and a sensation of taste. I had a ribeye steak with pesto and potatoe chips, my wife had a vegetarian compostion with fennel. The selection of wines is good too. The price category is €€€, not €€. But it is the price worth. I think is one of the best restaurants in Galway, perhaps even of Ireland.
E. D.
Great spot right by the water. Good food and desserts. Highly recommended for brunch or coffee!
A. W.
We didn’t make it in time for breakfast, but we enjoyed a delicious lunch. The specials were out of this world good. We had the veggie and the fisherman. For drinks we enjoyed the pot of tea, but the real highlight was the blueberry kombucha. Only wish we had room for the handmade desserts!
a. t.
The food was absolutely wonderful! A quaint, warm little place on the water. The best dining experience during our entire trip to Ireland and England! Food and atmosphere FABULOUS!
M. S.
Outstanding food and excellent service.
L. K.
I ate in ard bia tonight, we had such a lovely meal. The waitress that we had was so friendly she had glasses and the food was amazing I would highly recommend the steak! There was a coldness when we entered but as soon as we got our table we felt the welcoming atmosphere don’t be put off! Very cosy and felt very comfortable being able to have a chat without ppl to close to us.
S. V.
Please be aware that my review is only based on ONE meal here.
Location & atmosphere: ***** lovely old building next to the river with a cosy interior. I was sitting at the high table which gives you a great vantage point to observe the busy happenings of the place. The busyness did not have a negative impact. I felt at home and enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere with the unique lounge music.
Service: **** very friendly and kind service, I had to wait a little while to be seated but it was well worth the wait.
Food: ***** I had the Burrenhouse smoked Salmon from the Brunch Menu. A nice dark slice of bread covered with spinach, salmon, two poached eggs and hollandaise. It was delicious!
If I revisit Galway I shall return. I definitely recommend.
R. J.
Not cheap, but *very* good.
T. S.
Delicious food. Great service.
There’s not a lot of options compared to many places, but the waiters will happily discuss what fits within any dietary requirements, and the food is good.
M. T.
Outstanding food and staff-thoroughly recommended.
J. K.
Very friendly staff and incredible food. Had the open faced hummus sandwich and it was fantastic. Simple but extremely well prepared. Lovely atmosphere with pretty views and unique local art. A real treat to visit and a truly enjoyable experience.
P. D.
One of the best restaurants in Galway. Great food and friendly staff in lovely setting. Two thumbs up.. great place for breakfast or brunch too.
N. S.
Excellent food and intimate atmosphere. Definitely need to make reservations because while I sat at the bar eating, staff had to turn away approx. ten groups due to busyness and lack of reservation. May be seen as a pricey dining option but worth the money in quality of food and friendliness of staff.
M. S.
Always amazed by the quality of food and service. This is something else.
The best interior design, the most amazing food, service.
If you go for dinner there - I guarantee you will be thinking about it days to come.
N. H.
Had an amazing lunch for great value. Very friendly, helpful and attentive staff, options for everyone including vegan friendly choices. Overall lovely atmosphere and great food.
C. N.
Went for breakfast a few weeks ago and really enjoyed. Food was tasty and a good portion, coffee was good too! Staff were attentive and friendly as well :)
C. T.
Ard Bia was recommended to us by our friends when they travelled to Galway. It was a top pick, the food was absolutely delicious and we thoroughly enjoyed our dinner. The only thing that would of added to the experience is if they slowed down between course - it was too rushed!
J. K.
My favorite secret restaurant when I visit Galway for work. Locally sourced, seasonal ingredients make up the menu and anything you eat will be fantastic. Decor is snug and artistic, and I like that its ambiance works great for any occasion, from a romantic date to a group meal with coworkers.
j. r.
I came across this little treasure during a visit to Galway City and Claddagh. It was lunchtime and I was hungry. The place is quite small and VERY busy. The patrons were from many parts of the globe, enjoying the fare. I was delighted to discover that they had gluten-free selections. I ordered the incredibly bountiful and scrumptious quinoa salad and a cup of peppermint tea. Since the place was very busy, I had to wait a while to be served, but the delicious meal was well worth waiting for.
T. L.
Charming interior and food that's wonderful in every respect, beautiful to look at, creative and delicious.
K. B.
Lovely place.
Scrumptious food ( monkfish , aubergine dip, etc ) all very well balanced and supper tasty.
Nice deco- we have especially enjoyed the upstairs.
Friendly staff.
Would defo recommend.
G. M.
The wife and I popped into this place for a late breakfast today. Lovely food and staff!
L. R.
Lovely restaurant, cozy and warm. The staff were very friendly. I ll definitely come back there.
J. P.
Absolutely wonderful. They were rammed, we had to wait on a table and still they found the time to make recommendations based on our preferences and amend the dishes to suit us. Attentive staff who care about doing their job well. Loved it.
A. S.
Wonderful food, friendly service. Upstairs was a bit lively/noisy ad there was a large group near us, but we could still manage a conversation. Ribeye was cooked to perfection, and wine list is small but unique and a good value on most.
N. K.
Great place for a dinner because of the creative interior and details on the walls. The food is good: the freshest seafood served with 2-3 additional ingredients which makes you focus on the most important ingredient and no overly full stomach. The staff seemed a bit rushed during the evening but turned talkative at the end of a busy evening (Galway races). We surely recommend this restaurant!
R.
Great service, friendly staff and delicious food
j. m.
Nice cosy spot. Fabulous coffee! Very busy, great service only down is that the mince (aka steak) burger patty is a little dry and bland. Second time having it.. We waited a little while for lunch..
J. M.
The best Reuben Sandwich I have ever had! The bowl of soup to go with it was too notch as well. They made me feel right at home. Great service. Highly recommend.
W. L.
I love it, enjoyed every bite of my food, tried lunch, dinner and sandwich over there and they all fabulous. Very creative menu, never boring and great surprise on the plate. Staff know how to please customers. Like the decor, old cottage style. Go there won't be disappointed
i. b.
Absolutely amazing. The brunch I had was the perfect way to start your morning. Was a big fan of the overall vibe, the music playing was entertaining and the staff were pleasant. Must go place
E. L.
I've only ever had brunch / breakfast here so can only comment on that. But the food was delicious with a good choice and the staff were super friendly all for a decent price.
Galway needs more places like this !
S. M.
Scones amazing staff lovely definitely recommend
S. B.
Great food and great service! It was delicious!
C.
Gorgeous place - great food.
S. N. (.
Nice brunch in Galway on the docks. Service was nice. Irish breakfast was nice. Sausages were a delight. Prices are correct. Very nice cosy set
I. D.
Lovely food. Reasonable price and very good service. Server recommended a lovely wine and took time to write out the name of the dessert wine for us too.
A. M.
I have eaten here more than a dozen times, and each time it is fantastic. Food is made from locally sourced ingredients typically, with exceptional options from fish to meat. Small (upstairs and downstairs) so book ahead.
P. J.
The highlight of the week: healthy and most delicious food. Been there for lunch and had a great choice of tasty meals. The staff is very friendly and families are welcome.
B. L.
Great value brunch, deliciously filling. Try the cheesecake, and a potato farl and meaty, juicy pogs on the green sausages make a fantastic Irish dog
L. O.
Honestly flawless - lovely people and a great experience - we tried the octopus/pork belly, aubergine/halloumi and rabbit starters and all three were perfect. We each then had the ribeye which was to die for and everything that came with it was spot on. Cannot fault it. Delicious!!
L. P.
Breakfast: 12€ for eggs and bacon, 8.50 for veggy breakfast
L. D. N.
This is a must if you are visiting Galway. The food is excellent, wether you fancy some meat or fish or vegetarian options. Every dish on the menu is mouthwatering. Good selection of drinks.Service is good too.
L. T.
Ard Bia was so lovely in every way! We ate there for lunch... And then ate there for dinner the same day. The decor inside is so warm and romantic. The food is really great! They are able to fuse together different foods and flavors that wouldn't seem right, but they make it right!! The beetroot ice cream and rhubarb dessert is so good! Everything is great, lunch and dinner! ❤️
J. H.
My favorite restaurant in Galway. Charm galore with an excellent, fresh, creative menu. Hummus sandwich, hippy fry, Donegal salmon in preserved lemon cream sauce all especially good. Nice cocktails, too.
J. W.
Fantastic GF menu. Waitress said they could make almost everything on the menu gluten free. Pretty building. Good food. Worth stopping in.
S. D.
Def the hippest restaurant choice in Galway. Fancy, interesting food. Cute atmosphere. I thought the pork belly appetizer was meh, but our entreeshake and the steak were fantastic!
M. S.
Love it here, great fresh food. Also I have tried the Lebanese Cardamon coffee with additional request from me to add fresh slices of ginger! And it was delicious..... The ginger is Yemeni style :)
C. S.
Such great food! My wife ordered breakfast and I waited to get some lunch. It was amazing, would recommend this place!
A. R.
Great experience. Staff a stand out.
J. H.
Went for lunch here, nice staff and very efficient. Lovely setting and the food was amazing, very fresh and tasty.
Well worth calling in
m. b.
Delicious kohlrabi, leek and cumin soup garnished with pumpkin and chia seeds with homemade brown bread and a delightful fruit pie. Lots of fresh food on the menu. Only a 10 min wait at 1:30 pm. Super service too. I'm coming back soon. You really should try. Even if there is a queue you won't be sorry.
S. N.
The food is really good. It is a shame they can do an espresso buy they have it in the food menu. The espresso was cold with coffee power in the cup and ... Bitter . It tasted like drinking the the water used to rinse a cup of coffee. I do not understand as with such high food standard they can drop so low. What they are serving at the caffee during the day ?
S. R.
The food was delicious and healthy, the staff were friendly and helpful, the atmosphere was warm and relaxed. I will definitely return on my next trip to Galway.
R. F.
Such a great place. Great food, great setting, great service and all at a very reasonable price. Here and Kai Cafe in Galway are the two of the best of the best. Go here.
C. C.
Good food, but really small portions. Rather expensive. Don't know why Google maps describes it as "Irish" and "$$". It's rather "haute cuisine" and "$$$$".
p. c.
Pretty good food. I'd breakfast here and the staff were excellent and very obliging with changes to the orders. Well worth a visit.
I. P.
Perfection. The food, the atmosphere, every single thing was excellent!
B. G.
Great Restaurant in Spanish Arch , food very good , staff friendly, menu has alot of local food including Mushrooms. The restaurant is always busy which is a great sign.
A. P.
Really a delightful dinner with friendly and knowledgeable staff. I sat in a cozy window seat and watched the evening pass in the Claddach over the water. The plaice was melt-in-your-mouth delicious and the wine a lovely Tempernillo. It can be expensive, but as a way to treat yourself you could hardly do better.
b. l.
Had a lovely lunch here. Can highly recommend a visit. Very pleasant staff.
M. R.
My wife and I were visiting the area in August from Michigan in the US. We had lunch here and enjoyed the food and ambiance very much. If I could snap my fingers and be there now I'd be happy indeed!

Warm, cosy, authentic, atmospheric .... superb foods in combinations on the plate that very few chefs would dream of, and a wine list to live well for. We are so lucky to have Ard Bia on or doorstep!!

G. R.
Ard Bia is a really lovely, cosy restaurant with a very down to earth feel to it. Our food was absolutely top notch, I would put it up there with the best in the city.
A. S.
Food: 5 out of 5
Service: 3 out of 5. Service was unfortunately slow and it took us a long time to get our food. I had to look for them numerous times because the delays and long waiting period to receive our meals was unusually long considering the low volume of individuals at the restaurant. Not sure if this is usual.
A. S. A.
Excellent food and atmosphere. Went three times for dinner, and the experience was always top!
T. Z.
Top class lunch food. Very reasonable lunch prices. Great staff and nice decor. Really top class place
L. S.

J. D.
Yes a splash of pretension; I tried foods that were unfamiliarity and loved every bite. Beautiful location, eclectic dining room, great service and wonderful food; not too shabby for the relatively reasonable price.
P. G.
Excellent local food in a terrific location. Best meal we had in Galway, even relative to higher rated / more expensive options.

Good coffee and cake. They sell many different things such as cookbooks, preserves, and scarves. A bit small, thus cramped at busy times.
M. M.
Best meal of our Ireland trip so far. Just trust the staff on what to order and you won't be unsatisfied.
s. m.
Its good. The problem is the staff and manager think they are far too cool to engage. They friendly but there is something of about the service. Its like we doing they a favour to be there.
