We’re very happy with our dinner at the Butcher Restaurant: friendly, quick and attentive service, atmosphere fun and relaxed at the same time, tasteful interior decorations, and last but not least of course very tasty food! The beef fillet and roast vegetables were delicious (as was the rest according to my partner!), our little one enjoyed the mash and mushrooms beyond our expectations and I’m a bit sad I had no room for dessert because it definitely looked yummy as well. We are also particularly happy that the restaurant is as local as it gets, with the meat coming the most part from the owner’s own farm or else locally, and thus having had the chance to experience and support local excellence. I hope we’ll get the chance to come back one day!

I’m from mid-US, lots of steak in my neck of the woods, but at 39yo this is the BEST steak I have ever had! The owner owns his own cattle farm so it’s farm to table delicious! And if you like the following ingredients, order this side, it is soooo good: broccolini, kale, feta, pomegranate. I am someone who never likes to visit the same place or order the same thing twice, and I’m debating going back again tomorrow🤣 Compared to steakhouses from my area, prices were about the same. For two people, we had two drinks each, two apps, two steaks, and three sides for about 120euro. I would pay that again in a heartbeat! Highly recommend!!!

This one was on the list for a while. Was delighted to get to try it after a fab day Christmas Shopping! It has cool, funky lighting & decor. The menu has a great selection. Of course I had to try the slow cooked Beef Rib and wow was it juicy & falling apart, just how its supposed to be. We did 3 courses and it was great value for the quality we received! Be sure to book if you decide to dine here. It's always busy. Which is a great sign!

Stopped here for a quick light bite Wednesday afternoon. Beautiful laid out restaurant, staff friendly and polite. My mum had soup while I had the King Prawn Skagen, all was very tasty. Nice menu and daily specials choice. I would definitely visit again, next time in the evening. Clean toilets.

Incredibly high standard. The food is incredible. We were there for my birthday as a party of 8 and everyone loved every course, when usually there would be one person who wasn't pleased with something, all 8 were blown away by the food and service. Highly recommend Butcher

Such a hidden gem, it's located in an alleyway, off a pedestrian street (if that's not off the beaten path I don't know what is). The dining experience I had here is unrivalled by many I've had in years. The majority of produce/meat used to prepare the dishes are all sourced locally with the exception of the fish (out of Dublin), the fish was delicious and cooked to perfection. The presentation of the food was an art form in itself. This includes the starters mains and sides. The food was delicious and so well displayed you couldn't but enjoy it. The range of starters/mains proves that the chefs are masters of their trade. I never expected to see such culinary delights when I browsed the menu. I would love to try it all. The steaks were cooked to prefection and when the sides are added they become formidable. The staff were great, professional at all times, they made you feel welcome. They were attentive but not over bearing or intrusive. I say again this was a great experience.

Came on a Monday, snuck in just in time for the early bird. The waiter was very nice. Got chicken wings to start which were lovely and a rib eye steak for main with chipotle aioli which was up there with one of the best steaks I've ever had. Finished off with a few cocktails. Would highly recommend.

We were a party of seven, fr Canada Our table had the seabass special, some striploins, and chicken. We also had the butchers salads and the beet/goat cheese salad. Everything was absolutely phenomenal. The beet and goat cheese salad was the best I've ever had. Everyone's entree were amazing. Great selection of drinks. Many entrees come with two sides, you get to choose between approx 8 options. Excellent service. Highly recommend this place if you're looking for great steak or seafood!!!

Upon arrival we were showen to our table right beside the window. The atmosphere of the restaurant was so relaxing,(lighting, seating arrangements, music) althought it was busy.:) (very good sign) when the waiter came to take our orders, he knew the menu very well when asked about dishes, ingredients etc. The food was delicious, presented beautifully, full of flavour. Booked a table online for during our staycation in Kilkenny. Very cool steakhouse cocktail restaurant just off the Butterslip alley way - modern interior, very sleek. Well stocked bar. Ribeye steak was cooked perfectly, side of hand cut fries crisp and great paired with the aioli sauce. Warm sticky toffee pudding and cold ice cream made for a lovely dessert. Great to see drinks made at the bar - always nice to see a Harvey Wallbanger on the cocktail menu!

The food here is very good. The burger was one of the best I have ever eaten. Great dessert (Ferrero Rocher cheesecake) as well as the Ribeye steak (the vegetables as side were superb). Beautiful location in the middle of Kilkenny. The service was very nice and welcoming. Definitely worth a visit!

Great Location to eat in Kilkenny. The meat (100% irish beef) was great..the Rib was a bit dry but still delicious and the Fillet was PERFECT. You also had a choice of two sides and a sauce which was included in the price. The prices are totally ok for what you get. The restaurant has a really cool interior,kind of industrial, look. Just a cool experience to eat there. For me a must place to eat in Kilkenny. We had luck to get spontanious a free table for two but i think at the busy times it's good to make a reservation, especially if you are a bigger group of people.

I've been here a couple of times now, and every time it's absolutely amazing. I actually couldn't fault it - the staff are lovely, the decor and atmosphere are great, and the food is always perfect. My whole experience at the Butcher Restaurant was brilliant. I can't fault anything. The food was incredible, best burger I've ever had! My wife and I visited this lovely establishment last night. I had booked it last week on the recommendation of a good friend. As part of the booking I noted that we were going to be celebrating our wedding anniversary. We arrived a few minutes early and were seated promptly and we had one of the nicest steak dinners and desserts. This was sweetly topped off by a very nice touch of a plate with 'Happy Anniversary' written in chocolate on it and a generous helping of vanilla ice-cream. For an excellent meal out and the nice touch too, top marks, and we would definitely recommend a visit.

One of our best restaurants visit during a round trip of Ireland. The staff was all happy, well dressed and polite. The food was outstanding and so was the dessert. We thought the bill would end up somewhere at 200€, and was positive surprised when it was at 150€. Bottle of wine, coffe, drinks, steaks. Kids meal was at only 5. The butcher burger was the best burger I ever tasted. I rolled out of the restaurant so full. The charbroiled taste of the beef patty with the rib on top was such a great combination. Well that’s what I tasted anyway. 😃 The atmosphere was great and we had a conversation with the owner at the end of the night. Loved the whole evening. We might be back for dessert. This was the venue of our staff Christmas dinner for 2019. It got off to a rocky start with the really awful welcome cocktail. The duck "wings" that followed we so tough and chewy I had to give up. That being said the main course, which as you might imagine was steak was really excellent. It was a saving grace for my meal and the meal of others on the night. The staff we friendly but were very busy and rushed. I would say away from the Christmas season this place is excellent and I look forward to trying it again if I'm back Kilkenny direction.

Me and my company came in around 8 on a Friday evening and got and ordered 2 steaks with 2 sides each. Any restaurant worth it's name can cook a steak per order but what set Butcher aside from the rest were the sides. The sides were beyond what you get in a standard steakhouse but If I was picky I'd recommend the kitchen to hold off some of the chili in the side salad and to cut the brocolli tenders 1 inch shorter. The dining room felt warm and open with a good mix of locals and tourists. Abdicate service and an excellent head waiter.

Had dinner on a weeknight about 6:30 PM and ordered from the early bird menu. The 10 oz ribeye was excellent, and my wife said the burger was quite possibly the best she had ever had. Veggies and chips were excellent, as were the desserts. A bit off the beaten path down an alley, but as long as you're looking for it it's easy to find. Seemed like it was starting to get full when we left, so I presume it gets quite popular in the evenings.

How do you get to be #1 place to eat in Kilkenny City.? Simple.. being the best..From the moment we walked in to the restaurant to the time we left the service was excellent. The Food was faultless and extremely tasty. In truth, the tastiest meal I've had in a very long time. This restaurant is well worth a visit if you are in Kilkenny or close by. The food and service are both excellent and you feel as though you have been transported to either London or New York, given the comfortable and tasteful decor. We had steak which was utterly delicious but had found it difficult to choose as there was a wonderful monkfish dish and a very sumptuous vegetarian option that were equally tempting. BTW they also have a Cocktail Bar. All in all I highly recommend this restaurant as a great place to eat out in Kilkenny.

My husband and I were referred to this restaurant during our brief stay in Kilkenny. We are so glad we went! I had a filet and he had a burger. But not just any burger, there was a beef rib on top of it! The burger was thick, juicy and cooked to order. The bacon macaroni and cheese was creamy and had plenty of cheese. The bacon pieces on top were more like American bacon (which we were happy to have!). The filet was cooked perfectly (medium rare) and was a healthy 8oz. The vegetables were a perfect compliment (large mushrooms, peppers...yum). Our meal was served piping hot and we only waited about 10 minutes between ordering and eating. If you are in Kilkenny, head down the Butterslip and find this gem of a restaurant.

Well where does one go for a succulent dry aged steak n root vegetables sourced from local farmers in kilkenny ?? We found a gem of a place called "BUTCHER" butterslip restaurant on st kiernan street just a stones throw away from kilkenny castle,,as we walked up the narrow cobblestone street to the entrance we were greeted by the proprietor "mark"and politely asked to choose a table to dine ,,this was of course so courteous , immediately we felt special thanks to "louise head host waitress"well done all, as for comfortable seats n snazzy surroundings ,lovely views of the street below and the butcher hooks n rails with the lights draped down them nice touch 10/10👌need we say about the food omg what a menu to choose from honestly a lot of hard work n research must have been done to get this right !!ok my wife ordered 8oz fillet steak all trimmings ,I opted for sunday roast rib eye of beef ,,presentation was everything also fillet of beef had a slight smokey charcoal flavour To it and rib eye was so tender all went down a treat with a glass of sauvignon ,,followed by dessert no other than Eton mess wait till you try this the best by far!! Such a relaxed atmosphere while also steadily filling up with tourist n locals alike ,,onto cocktails then just to top it all off was a tall mojito well it was sunday and we just getting warmed up for our concert what a place to start well done everyone we will be back thanks to BUTCHER RESTAURANT 👍🍀💯%
