G. Z.The whole experience is very good! Vintage style restaurant with tasty food and drinks. Staff are super friendly and helpful, and it has both smoking and non smoking areas. Much recommended when in Kilkenny. Try the Chilly Milly drink too :D

A. T.Such a great place for our first dinner in Kilkenny! Located right across the bridge. We got seated right away upstairs and I ordered the fish and chips which were amazing and came as a huge portion. Also they have the best hot chocolate here! The main plus of this place is the live music. We returned later that evening and the next day for their live music with different bands and lots of dancing. They did have a cover charge one night of 5 euros but it was worth it for the good times and the band was playing up until 3am and taking song requests. Definitely the place to go for some fun night life. They also have bouncers at the front door checking Ids and tons of drink options to choose from.

The place is very interesting with lots of floors and levels and stairs. They had live music playing, we only had to wait about 10 minutes for a table.
We ordered the Guinness Stew and fish and chips. The fish and chips is a little different since it's breaded, not battered, but it was still really good, Tartar sauce was just the right amount of horseradish. The stew was definitely the highlight. Absolutely amazing. I tried stew in another place later and this one was much more flavorful and the meat was very tender. The bread with the stew was good, but not the best we had during our week in Ireland.

We were looking for a good place to eat and listen to Irish music, and this seemed like a good choice. The pub was quite full when we arrived, so we were asked to wait at the bar as a table would be available soon, and it was ready in about two minutes. Very good, thoughtful service, nice choice of dishes and drinks. We went for a house special and chicken fettucine. Both dishes were delicious and really well served! We shared the cheesecake of the day to follow, and it was also very nice. The band playing just made the place even more special and typically Irish. We warmly recommend this place!

A.Great bar and restaurant on many floors. We arrived late in the evening to a busy bar bustling with people of all ages having drinks and the craic. We made our way up stairs and ordered food and cocktails. We had a window seat and it was lovely to watch the rain hitting the river which made us want to stay in Matt the Millers even more. We kept ordering drinks and the place got busier and busier. The atmosphere was amazing and the staff and locals were so friendly.

C. O.A really nice bar bit very expensive drinks. This is the only reason, that I would not go here again. 5.40 euro for a spirit without a mixer. I'd say it is a lively bar on weekends, ai just can't pay the Dublin prices in good conciense 😅. The actual bar is really nice though, besides that, with plenty of nooks and crannies to sit in. :)
J. R.We ordered the bar mix and Cesar salad. The chicken wings weren't the greatest. They were a bit burnt and the chicken didn't taste great. The potato wedges were good. The little sausages were ok. The pub had cool vibe and the wait staff super friendly.

M. W.Three stories tall with seating on the first and second levels. The kitchen and bathrooms are on the third level. Great beef stew! Even better with a pint of Guiness or Smithwick's to go with it. I recommend this place if you're a tourist wanting an Irish lunch or dinner.

K.Had a 3 night stay in kilkenny and 1st night we ate in hotel and it was bad(won't be going there again).As a professional courtesy I won't mention the hotel.I have given a review already.Found Matt the Millers,food was fantastic,service too.Had the wings for starters and fish and chips main.Was bloody delicious.Ended coming back again next night food was so good.Thanks for making our 3 days worthwhile.I highly recommended this establishment and will be back 😀

A. D.A very nice spot that is located nicely in Kilkenny town. The chicken and pesto pizza here was lovely and it held its heat for the duration of the meal. They also do a nice pasta dish too and by all accounts the beef stew is very well executed.
The staff here are helpful and very well organised. This place has a nice athmosphere also.

M. H.We had gone in the off season so the venue wasn't packed. It has plenty of space to accommodate large groups. It's directly across from the River Court Hotel making it a cheaper dining venue than the ones at the hotel if you want simple pub food and drink. The waiting staff were helpful and the music was good. I wasn't a fan of the cleanliness of the bathrooms and my food could have been a little warmer.

A. S.Great lively pub. We went for an early evening drink and the place was already packed and lively with people cheering the semifinal game of Gaelic football. We had some drinks and shared a platter of potato wedges, little eggrolls, chicken and sausages. There are many other "healthier" options that look nice too. You can park the car at Market Yard across the river. There's live band.

I ordered a bacon cheeseburger, which only comes well done because of the mad cow disease scare a few years back. If you're American and like your burgers Medium/Medium Rare... Order a steak instead. We were there for the Irish music which went from 6:30-9, which was really the best part of the experience. The waiter we had was nice but it seemed like he had too many tables to handle and we felt neglected. He dropped off our food and ran away before I could ask him for ketchup. I tried to get his attention unsuccessfully and ended up needing to walk up to the bar to get ketchup myself. There was no midmeal check-in to ask if we needed anything and it wasn't until after we were both done eating that he finally came back. I was leaning towards 3 stars but my wife really enjoyed her salad and the music was great so I bumped it up to a 4.

M. M.Mediocre food. My daughter has had fish and chips 5 times now in a week while visiting. This was the least favorite. Dry on the inside and seems likely they came frozen. Seafood chowder was fishy tasting and smelling, and not in the fresh made-from-fish kind of way. My other daughters kids buttered pasta was even over cooked and mushy

J. M.We stayed in Kilkenny on our cross country trip and ended up eating at this establishment. The first impression wasn't great as we weren't greeted by a server for quite a while. Once we ordered we also had some confusion with other servers who weren't aware of who was in charge of our table. Also, once we were finished, our server came to us and tried to take our order as though we had just arrived. This was even before our bill came. So service was not fantastic.
All that being said, the food was quite good and worth the wait. First, the chowder. We have made a point of ordering the seafood chowder whenever it is served at a restaurant. It was honestly the best seafood chowder I have ever eaten. It was meaty, thick, and flavorful. This alone made our walk worth it.
The Ceasars salad that my wife ordered was also very generous and tasty. Some lettuce did get warm because of the hot chicken breast they put on top but it did not take away the taste.
The fish was also above average. It was a bit tough for my liking but it was well prepared and flavorful. I would definitely recommend if you are in the area.

J. L.What a gem! My wife and I ate here twice during our time in the lovely town of Kilkenny. It's a very nice walk to the pub. You walk along the bridge over the river Nore with a picturesque view of Kilkenny Castle at your back. The setting inside is very Ireland centric, but dont worry about not knowing what to do when you enter, someone will come right up and greet you. With some of the more rural pubs, the customs are different then you may be used to back home (I'm from the US), this is not the case with Matt the Millers, so don't feel anxious.
If you you are wondering what to eat....hands down it's the Meadevil Beef and Guinness Stew. The whole rest of our trip in Ireland, all other beef stews were compared to it and nothing came close.
Overall it's a simple yet comfortable place. It has a great menue, diverse drink list, and sometimes even live musical entertainment. I highly recommend it!

Asked my food with no ham coz I eat kosher, and they gave me pork sausages.. Had to ask them to replace it, kitchen was closed, so they just removed the sausages, and refunded me with half the price.

Q.Couldn't recommend this place enough. The food was delicious, I had the Duck which came with a sausage fresh veggies, mash and topped with a sweet glaze. The Drinks and service were also great. A definite place to go if your in town.

C.This was a fantastic pub to visit. We popped in for the one on our way home and ended up staying here till closing time. The building itself is massive and has many floors which is always a positive thing. The staff were very friendly.

J. G.This multi-level bar is really happening on the weekends - full of stag parties, locals and tourists all enjoying live music and the company of others. We find refuge on the 2nd floor where it wasn't too crowded and there was a hen party having a good time and dancing to the music without being harassed by the swarms of men down below. Upstairs there seems to be a smoking lounge, which is to say it was a little bit for everyone. We will never forget Kenny Kilkenny from the Midlands!
