M. H.Very welcoming homely hotel. Excellent staff, very helpful and friendly. Liked the fact that breakfast was available until 11am. Good choice of breakfast dishes and very tasty soda bread. We dined in the hotel two nights, tasty food reasonably priced. Housekeeping is of an excellent standard, towels changed daily and lighter bed linen provided on request.
S. D.We stay here a few days every year and it perfect. The location is excellent as it's in killarney town and is very close to the national park. There is no pool ( which suits me fine) but you get a real Irish welcome, lovely room and staff that can't do enough for you.

Had breakfast both mornings. I had the full Irish and asked for toast with it but I was given a great surprise (toast/brown bread/baby scones) Service was perfect. I always recognise great service when they ask is everything ok halfway through my meal. I left that table with a full belly and ready for the day ahead.
I happened to meet the GM (Pat Gill) on Sat morning as I was passing by reception. It was very kind of him to ask how was my stay and take time to talk to me. He made me feel very welcome. Thanks to Pat and the staff at the Arbutus Hotel Killarney for your warm welcome.
Looking forward to booking this Hotel again for my next visit to Killarney.

Very good poached egg, and porridge with maple syrup and cream, for breakfast. The toast was mediocre, soggy rather than crisp. Service excellent.

B. S.I stayed two nights at the Arbutus and it is the perfect “pied-à-terre” to discover Killarney. This nice boutique hotel in the heart of Killarney is only a few meters away from the main street and local attractions. The forthcoming and polite team will look after your comfort and give you a bit of the “Irish welcome”. The rooms are old in a positive way: loads of space, a spacious bathroom and really cosy bedding. If you get a chance to bump into Sean, the householder, make sure to ask him about the fantastic story behind this iconic Killarney hotel. Finally, enjoy the last hours of the day at the hotel’s own pub with a Guinness in hand and traditional music in the background. Sláinte!

R. S.If i could give it 10 stars i would! From the minute we arrived everyone went over and beyond for us. We arrived for 3 nights b&b with 2 dinners included. We had dinner the first night at the bar and the food was amazing. We had breakfast each morning and you could tell the food was cooked fresh and the servers were super responsive. The room was immaculate, spacious and comfy. All covid related guidelines were met. Everyone there was so lovely, chatting away to us and really made us feel special throughout our stay. We had our 2nd dinner outside at their new outdoor dining area and it was so lovely. We ended up requesting the room and staying for a 4th night as we didnt want to leave! Location was also brilliant. Parked the car up and didnt need it at all until we were leaving. Will be recommending the Arbutus Hotel to all. Thank you.

J. C.This is a beautiful hotel. The room had amazingly comfortable mattresses and bright clean marble bathrooms. The reception staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful.
The only thing that could be improved was the breakfast, which was over-cooked (especially the eggs, which I asked to be runny).
That said, I’d happily stay there again.
M. H.This is a wonderful place to stay. Since the 19th century, generations of the same family have welcomed guests across their threshold with unique grace and charm. Bespoke, Celtic Deco interiors and individual pieces of Artwork help to create an atmosphere of calm and comfort. The drawing room is a great place to relax and enjoy good (complementary) coffee and delicious ginger cake. The decorative scheme is carried through to the rooms, the beds are super comfortable and everything is sparklingly clean. There is a comprehensive breakfast menu, everything is fresh and beautifully cooked. Staff go above and beyond to make your stay as comfortable as possible.

K. M.My two friends and myself stayed in this hotel for 3 nights at the start of August 2020 and it was one of the best holiday experiences we have had. This is a beautiful hotel on the main street in Killarney . The staff are exceptional and could not do enough for us. The food was delicious and always served piping hot! The three of us stayed in the one room where there was 2 single beds and 1 double bed and all were very comfortable dressed with crisp white bed linen. I cannot recommend this Hotel highly enough.
M. “. K.Hotel was the most elegant and charming hotel I have ever stayed in, I have been in killarney 5 times but never stayed in the arbutus. Housekeeping everyday the room was beautiful and big double bed and a single and a sofa, right in the central your in the heart of the the bustly town. staff couldn't be nicer anything I wanted like a extra tea the staff there was Emer and another lady I'm raging I didn't get her name because she was lovely, I didn't get her name I love my tea and anything I asked for she gave with a smile and got it straight away, extremely clean, loads of hand sanitizer everywhere (she was there mostly during the day) they were a credit to the hotel and killarney itself, would recommend highly and would definitely come back.

T. S.Wow - a one word summary of our experience with Arbutus Hotel in Killarney. The room was great. Service was fantastic. People were so friendly. Bar was fabulous. Michelle at the front desk was just incredible. Hot tea on our arrival. Directions and recommendations. Just general conversation - made time for us. We left a shirt and they mailed it to us back in the states all nice and folded. They are in a great location just off the Kerry loop. Easy walk to the downtown. Great breakfast. Just can't say enough. We will be back in the very near future - so hopefully that says it all.

L. S. B.The Arbutus is a beautiful hotel to walk into, the foyer filled with typically Irish old world charm. The young lady on reception was very welcoming, but we were not offered the promised tea and ginger cake upon arrival, which we’d been looking forward to! We’d splashed out on a superior room since it was our honeymoon, but the room was bland, and didn’t even have tea and coffee making facilities. It also overlooked the carpark and extractor fans, and there were cigarette butts in the gutter below the windows, from previous guests. Finally, breakfast was served by a characterful to the point of surly lady, who disappeared for long periods of time and seemed to resent having to wait on us. We gave up trying to order coffees and left, since she never re-emerged from the kitchen once we’d finished eating. Overall, definitely a disappointing stay, and I wouldn’t recommend the hotel.

D. S.Well situated with a lovely pot of tea and ginger cake on arrival of you request it. Our room didn't have the greatest view, but the price wasn't for luxury either. There is a bar to the side of the hotel that can get very noisy although for tourists it may be great if you can avoid the lecherous old trolls who seemed to hang out there while we visited. The bar is pretty decent by the way. Room was clean and comfortable, staff were great and very helpful. Breakfast was great, with lots of choice and plenty of homemade jam.

B. F.The staff was fantastic. The hotel itself is an historic gem with eloquent style, antique furniture adorning every hallway and stairway landing! The dining is fabulous, with white linen adorning every table...even for breakfast, not to mention the delicious cuisine! The rooms are large and very clean! The bathrooms have gorgeous tile walls and floors...I just can't describe how wonderful this "home away from home" is, you must see for yourself! This has everything (and more) a Five Star hotel possesses! You won't regret your stay here!
K. H.We had a delightful two night stay in October 2016. The rooms are clean. The breakfast was filling and delicious. The staff was helpful. Special kudos to Betty of the dining staff who was especially attentive to our needs. Centrally located. Lovely antiques. Fireplaces keep the lobby areas cozy.
E. W.The good: The staff was wonderful, certainly as kind as they come. The breakfast was great, especially the French toast. The location of the hotel was top notch - right downtown in Killarney. The water pressure was good and the room was spacious.
The not so good: The bed was below average - relatively springy and uncomfortable. The bedding blankets were aged and uncomfortable as well. The room was nicely decorated, but for the hole in the wall above the door. The parking was difficult, as the only free included parking required a 400m walk back to the hotel. Loading and unloading was tricky due to having to stop dead in the middle of a busy city street. There was no air conditioning, so we had to open the windows to cool the room. That would be fine, but for the fact that our room windows opened to the exhaust from over Murphy's Bar next door. The noise and smell weren't horrible, but not great either.
We had a very nice time in Killarney, but I'm on the fence as to whether I'd recommend the hotel to anyone.
K. D.We stayed here about 2 years ago. We loved this quaint hotel. It is family owned and operated! Fresh Gingerbread greets you with a lovely cuppa of Irish tea (I've become addicted and order it on line now)! The room wasn't huge, but we're traveling, so we're not in the room that long. Bathroom and room were clean and BIG PLUS, they left the heat on for us! (Many hotels and B&Bs in Ireland turn off their heat during the night...it gets pretty chilly, trust me!). They did have wash rags too, which is uncommon in Europe (they expect you to carry your own)! Friends front desk (one of the owners), lovely sitting room. Greatly enjoyed it here!

a. 4.Wonderful old hotel. My kids loved the fact that you opened the room door with a key. The staff are very friendly. Michelle at the front desk helped us plan our day out. Margaret and Betty are great too.

K. W.Disclaimer** I did not stay at this hotel however!! My fiancé and I had a horrible experience with our AirBnB- we were right above a noisy pub with lots of smoke coming from the outside.. Finally at 11pm we had enough- I went out onto the streets to see if a hotel had any availability for the night (again this is at 11pm!!) other hotels just told me no and wouldn’t help me. I went into this hotel and reception stated they had no rooms- I told her my situation and she called around to help me find some where to stay for the night! I couldn’t believe the generous customer service she had to help me!!! Awesome awesome staff!! Thank you for your kind service!!
J. G.[Trip 3 years ago/ March]Beautiful lobby and staff repoir in a charming & friendly city. Staff are stellar[so polite, kind like concierge and front desk combined. Very helpful but never to the point of unprofessional or too comfortably in your business. Rare touch these days]. I would send my Grandmother, a rock band and even a seasoned executive here (all at the same time) being equally happy. Only drawback - a few older decor items. Still an extremely charming appeal.
Generous sized rooms. Right in the main square. Each room has a theme[3 to 4 styles] Floral or non floral. Avoid floral for the young executive as it is very floral but ideal for couples. Lovely details. Was like an ensuite. Had so much room I could have hosted a small bridal party in parlour zone(&bathroom). Old fashioned yet classy. Very clean. Seems a cross between B& B decor and a Grand Old hotel. Has a nice pub/bar with seasoned staff; good hours and it services rooms and a hip but seasoned regulars crowd[all ages]. Old school elevator. Rooms are well insulated for sound aside from windows themselves. Which is one reason to stay so you can be sure to catch the towns' enthusiastic spirit! Loved staying here. Will do it again in Killarney! Romantic inside. Rambunctious & lively town late into the night(all ages crowd) - only 3 short blocks away from square outside. Can hear some things but not all. Perfect blend. Could sleep fine. Toiletries refreshed perfectly at turn down times. Will do it again.

A. L.The service of the front desk was amazing. They truly go the extra mile to make sure you understand everything & get everything you need. The room & bathroom were clean. My only complaint is that the room we had was on the street, and they have no air conditioning or fans so you had to have the window open. I say that because since we were by the street you hear EVERYTHING outside. Sleep did not come to us until 2am, and the city is up and going by 8/9am. Besides that it was great!

L. L.The staff is grrrrrreat! I did not want to leave! I mean they have an actual fireplace in a salon type room. Where you can help but snuggle with your fave hot drink and kindle/book. Or the view of the busy street where you can watch the passersby. It reminded me of a old Victorian charming type theme. See pics of the room. The food was eh! But the breakfast scones w/jam....um, umm, yummy! Just book a room already. As an American the plumbing is a bit different, hard to describe, but you'll understand it's a Europe thing. No AC that I could see, but it's cold enough or there is window (with no screen :( but it's cold enough. But again no window. The staff, you want is endearingly sweet! But we had an elder lady who is a no nonsense type of personality this seems a bit rough but she is the sweetest! Beds are eh! Not amazing but not bad. The laundry service is a must use. As it's the cheapest I've seen since visiting Ireland! It has 1 elevator, that's slow but works. If you in the neighborhood stay here as is central to everything.

They are family owned, family friendly. They gave great suggestions for dinner. The BEST (our favorite!) sweater/scarf outlet shop across the street. Fun pub next door with Traditional Ireland music. Parking lot behind hotel was easy access. Breakfast was great. Loved the in town feel. Little grocery couple doors down. Bought Connemara stone jewelry at jewelry store (cheaper at Dublin airports shopping area before you leave). Lots of fun shopping and pubs. All was fun and great. Would return.

As for the room we were given..wow!..old style but plush and so clean..We were in our room for maybe ten mins when we received a phone call from the front desk asking if we were happy with the room and if there was anything we needed!..Now that's a great introduction to a very well tuned in hotel to their customers..After that when we strolled down stairs we were offered complementary tea r coffee with freshly homemade scones..And yes they were freshly homemade lol..The atmosphere in this fantastic hotel is so relaxed and unhindered nothing is a problem and the staff are just out on their own. No Scolls seen all weekend now that definitely makes a change..We had our dinner in the bar the first night and it was second to none..bar staff even tho busy made time for an introduction and were also very friendly towards their respective customers..They have two front rooms for customers to also sit and relax by a turf and wood fire which was constantly been topped up I mite add.
