R. O.I tremendously enjoyed my visit to The Mustard Seed for a few days in August. Everything was lovely and heart warming. The staff are simply wonderful and although I was visiting solo I never felt that way even though surrounded by parties of two or more. The house is cosy and if you are a bookworm you may well get distracted. The location is sublime and close to beautiful Knockfierna. My huge compliments to the chef - I loved every mouthful of my dinner and breakfast. As a coeliac I was thrilled with the amazing bread on offer - usually one simply gets the packaged stuff. Make sure to take a walk around the gardens too - there are some lovely surprises. A beautiful treasure!
c. m.I cannot recommend the Mustard Seed highly enough, both for the charm of the decor, and the genuine warmth and effortless efficiency of the hard-working staff. Don't miss taking a walk around the grounds, especially the walled fruit garden.

K. R.Myself, my husband and our dog (Barbara) stayed here for 2 nights. We have just arrived home and are all feeling totally relaxed and refreshed. From the moment we arrived to the very moment we left... we felt we were in a little bubble of happiness. The attention we were all given was superb... we couldn't have felt more looked after.
On arrival we were met by friendly charming staff, who clearly love the place and are very passionate about their work. It felt like coming home to family after being away for ages... so inviting and cosy. They had left a jug of delicious homemade organic apple cordial and some chocolates for my husband on the table... as it was his birthday!
John the owner made sure we were perfectly happy with our room and that Barbara was happy too. It is rare that places are really as dog-friendly as this place!
The breakfast was so delicious, everything just perfect. However... dinner was one of the most incredible experiences ever! The room alone made us feel so happy... the colour of the wall, the candlelight, the atmosphere! Then the food arrived. To say it was exceptional just isn't enough... I literally could have cried with joy. Outstanding! And we are fussy when it comes to food.
Then going back to our cosy room for a wonderful night's sleep.
We will never forget our time here... and will definitely be back. Thank you to all at The Mustard Seed for such a memorable experience!

S.I drove up to the Mustard Seed because I like old houses and I wanted a look .I was with my friend and we went into the house and thought we could order coffee and biscuits ,they dont do that because of covid and afraid for the residents, we met a lovely manager who took us to an sun room and brought coffee and biscuits compliments of the house ,what a fabulous reception to get for 2 strangers just checking out the place, I will go there for a meal with friends in the future ,I highly recommend this establishment for there kindness and hospitality .Betsy and Anne Muire .

d. c.We have just returned from a two night stay at The Mustard Seed. John Edward and his staff went to great lengths to ensure that we would enjoy our break. The atmosphere in the place is amazing. All the staff are dedicated to the task of looking after their guests to the nth degree. Nothing is too much trouble. The food is absolutely gorgeous. Everything is really fresh, and it is prepared to a very high standard. I had the beef dish for dinner, and it was probably one of the best meals I have ever had. The breakfast was also top class. I really enjoyed the fruit breakfast bowl, especially the rhubarb from the kitchen garden.
This place has a string of National Awards, and it is easy to see why.

And I don't think I've ever eaten a more lovely meal. It's above the average cost of a meal out - BUT NOT BY MUCH - and so worth it. It was a terrific experience and one I am looking forward to repeating - WELL before my next birthday. What a place! And Ballingarry village is gorgeous too.

b. c.Very special place on the outskirts of Ballingarry. I'd wanted to go here for years and this year was it. It's a grand old 19th century house with a new bedroom extension to the side. Their speciality is Evening Dinner served in a very pleasant dining room. We had one of the original bedrooms, very quirky with eclectic furnishing and knick-knacks. Loads of windows and a large bathroom. They have a fantastic kitchen garden there which you can stroll around. The produce is used by the kitchen.
On arrival we were seated in the drawing room, and served tea/coffee and biscuits by a very attentive staff who answered our questions about this fascinating building.
Evening Dinner was very nice, although one male staff member was very pushy with the sales which is out of character with the house and other staff. I'd have given 5* if that lad had chilled out a bit. Breakfast was very disappointing, with a very small selection on the juice/fruit table and the hot food was bog standard. However I enjoyed the stay there very much and would go back. We won't have places like these for too much longer, so make the most of them while we do ;-(

After flying all night, we landed in Ireland and had to drive in fog, rain, dark, on the other side of the road in a six speed mini cooper that was not at all familiar, truly a challenge. We drove to the Mustard Seed and arrived waaaaaaaaaay too early before check in. We were greeted by Mary who took one look at us and said, "go sit and have some breakfast and I will get your room ready, not a worry" The breakfast was all home made and fresh, a true treasure and amazing. With our bellies full and exhaustion setting in, we checked in our beautiful room. Mary you made the difference for us that day we arrived in Ireland and we want to thank you from the bottom of of hearts. You are a amazing example of exemplary service. The rest of our stay was amazing as well as was the 5 star dinner we had that night. Everyone was extremely kind, attentive and genuine. I have been to Ireland many times and if you go, you must stay or at least dine at this amazing place, the Mustard Seed @ Echo Lodge. You will be impressed in every way.

When you walk in the massive front door it is feeling of walking into someone's home and that is how you are treated. The food is fantastic and the service second to none.
So why not 5 star. Small things one that stuck out at €64.00 a head without wine you would have thought table water would be complimentary not €8.50. However try it maybe the price tag is worth it.

k. l.Rose from Spencer Travel suggested we stay at the Mustard Seed in Ballingarry during our recent trip to Ireland. We arrived at the Mustard Seed at Echo Lodge for 2 nights to celebrate my birthday. From the moment we drove up the winding driveway we had the feeling of coming home.
John and his team excelled at customer service, food and old fashioned hospitality. We left with a heavy heart and decided by that afternoon to cancel our next hotel and return. I spoke to Mary with a plea to return and was met with a truly genuine, "So pleased to hear your voice". John was on the doorstep to welcome us back as we drove in and ushered us to our room number 14.
Everything about the place is relaxing and personalised, from the tea in front of the fire to the table in the bay window for breakfast and dinner. So personalised that John showed me a new private road to go jogging.
For all visitors tom Ireland the Mustard Seed is a must.

Here's what I remember from my stay. The welcome, the complimentary glass of prosecco, a cup of tea and mouth watering shortbread. Our evening meal was superb in every way followed by our tea in one of the many relaxing sitting rooms. A great nights sleep overlooking the gardens, all rooms are individually styled and beautiful. Finally, breakfast before checkout with Breda. I'd highly recommend the Mustard Seed. If you need to get away from it all just go. I loved and appreciated ever element of our stay and it was excellent value for money. Keep doing what you do so well Breda, John Edward and everyone of your team 😊 Gwyneth Busteed
