M. G.I had not been there for a number of years and went there last week. The food and the service is, as it always was, fantastic.
S. C.The pub is next to the main road. It looks rustic and there is a fireplace inside. We had Wild Atlantic hake fillets, the fish was really delicious, well prepared and it was big portion. The service is very good. Loved out visit and would recommend.

M. Z.I used to work there as a student, more than 10 years ago. Thought it was a nice place, and the food was fine. Revisited recently after all these years, and I found the food was even better, especially the desserts. It improved so much, without losing any charm. If you haven't been there for a while, it is worth coming back!
D. K.Expected big things from the long dock. Meal overall was good. Scallops were beautiful. Outdoor seating in the front isn't great though. On the main road which can't be helped as we were a walk in. I did contact them about reservations but nobody got back to me. The coverage in the front from the sun isn't great either.
G. M.Stopped off here passing through carrigaholt for lunch and we got a table out the back. The service and food was top class. The outdoor area at the back was spotless and really well maintained. It was busy but well spaced out. There was so much choice on the menu,The portions are huge and the food was home cooked to perfection. The table close to us had desserts and they looked devine. The waiting staff were so lovely and were attentive without being constantly in your face. I'll definitely make the trip back again.

T. S.Visited The Long Dock with my wife and another couple on the weekend of 13th August 2021. Excellent experience with top class service and great ambience in the pub. My wife and our friends enjoyed the excellent food which they were able to choose from an extensive menu, befitting what is advertised as an award winning pub/restaurant. Unfortunately, personally I did not share their experience. As a long time vegetarian I know from the experience of eating out in Ireland over many years not to expect too much for me on a menu but happily things have improved over the years particularly in most top class restaurants. Unfortunately this was not the case in The Long Dock and I was shocked to find that there was not one item on the main menu suitable for vegetarians. I had to ask the girl who served me was there anything suitable for me to eat and she had to check in the kitchen and come back out to tell me what was available, which was a pasta or stir fry or vegetable curry. I took the pasta which was quite nice but I feel that for a restaurant describing itself as award winning there should be at least a number of vegetarian or vegan options available on the menu so that I can have the same experience as meat eating diners. A large part of the enjoyment of eating out is looking at the menu and deciding what to choose. I have been in countless average restaurants and get offered the cop out of stir-fries or curries and have come to expect it. But not in an award winning restaurant. I am paying the same kind of money as my meat eating friends and feel strongly that I should have at least a number of good choices off the menu. I think that in the Ireland of 2021 this should be now taken for granted in any good restaurant. Particularly an award winning one. Yours, Tim Sheehy, Newbridge, Co. Kildare.
H. H.My partner ordered monkfish, I had surf and turf. Both plates were stone cold; her monkfish was overcooked, chewy and tasteless. My steak was nothing special, prawns looked and tasted like frozen ones from a supermarket. To be fair the restaurant did not charge for the monkfish when we complained but overall it was a very disappointing meal and I doubt we will be back.
E. O. G.Food is fantastic. Staff were excellent. Pints were good. Lovely seating area out the back sheltered from the wind and it's a good sun trap. You'd be hard pushed to find a better place to eat in the greater Kilkee area!

L. D.Beautiful bar/restaurant in a quaint little village on Loop Head trail. I'd never have found it without a recommendation but I'm so glad I sought it out. Staff were welcoming and couldnt be more helpful. Was well looked after. Service was the right speed for each course! Had all 3 and each was excellent! Very relaxed evening!

M.must say first,service was excellent,young waiter was lovely,at the end after paying €127 i commented that my steak from the surf and turf was as tough as leather,the waiter said this to who looked like the head waiter and as i passed to use the toilets overhead him say JJ supplies excellent meat,maybe he does but my opinion obviously meant nothing as it was completely dismissed,had much better meals,dont think we will return.

e. n.As we were staying the area it was really the only place near to eat in. Constantly booked out which is to be expected with Covid etc. They did comply with the distanceing etc. We found the person on the bookings very strange, it was as if she didn't want us there and was not very welcome for meeting and greeting. She made us feel unwanted. The younger staff were exceptional and extremely helpful and courteous, especially the lad with english type accent. The food was pricey also. I ordered a sharing plate of poached salmon prawns and salad as a mains as it is advertised. I got 4 unshelled prawns 2very miserable pieces of salmon and 2 shells filled with sauce, no fish!!!!!!!!!!. It cost me €26. Kind of wondered how these shells are washed or do they dump them.

They had not had their scallops delivery for the day, so monkfish was had instead. Overcooked and under-seasoned. Potatoes and tomatoes sprinkled liberally with seaweed failed to impress as sides. The chowder and brown bread however was good. If in the area, I’d recommend a trip, but I wouldn’t make the pub the focus of the trip.

B. P.The Long Dock is a bit of an institution in West Clare and it was lovely to be able to get back there during our trip home in January. We visited twice, the first time was for lunch when we were able to enjoy some of their famous chowder beside a warm, cosy fire.
We returned for dinner the following evening with a family group. The service was very friendly and efficient and the food was excellent. The choice of seafood is very good and much of it is locally sourced. We enjoyed the Carraigaholt mussels and the seafood platter. The dessert selection was also very tempting including homemade ice-cream.
We hope it will not be too long before we can visit again.
P. M.Had a booking for 8.45 last evening.first & most importantly in light of Covid, there was NO sign of staff wearing masks, NO track & trace & zero distancing.
Roughly half the menu was off very disappointing for a Saturday night!
Used the toilets before leaving, the stench of urine was overpowering & toilet would not flush.
Makes one wonder how clean the kitchen is 🤢🤢🤢

Mussels, chowder and smoked salmon salad ordered by the adults were all fantastic. Only drawback was no changing facilities which meant a change in the boot of our car, really not ideal.

Ogni volta che ceno in questo pub ristorante non rimango mai deluso. Sicuramente leggermente piu' caro rispetto ai pub dei dintorni, la differenza di prezzo viene ripagata dalla qualita', sia delle carni che del pesce, tutti di produzione locale. J. B.(Translated) Good food but unfortunately very poor service. So we were offered - in contrast to neighboring tables - no bottled water. Our order was taken only after 15 minutes waiting, it was then the drinks order probably "worn", so we only got our main course and had to order the drinks again.
After we had finished and still had an appetite for a dessert, the next table was bekellnert, but the waitress probably did not want to clear our plates. As this was not done after another 15 minutes of waiting, and no waiter could be seen more, the dessert appetite had passed us - we finally went to the counter and asked for the bill. The waitress could not even remember our order, so we had to recite it to her for cash.
Long story short: Nice shop, if one of the service does not matter and you take for a really good food in purchasing, quasi to have to pat yourself.
Side note: Each checkout automatically donates € 1 to a charitable institution. Unlike on the info sheet of the 1 € but not per table, but probably per guest added to the bill. Because it is for a good cause, that should be right, but could have been called clearer.

Gutes Essen aber leider sehr mangelhafter Service. So wurde uns - im Gegensatz zu Nachbartischen - kein Tafelwasser angeboten. Unsere Bestellung wurde erst nach 15 Minuten Warten aufgenommen, dabei wurde dann die Getränkebestellung wohl „verschlampt“, sodass wir lediglich unseren Hauptgang bekamen und die Getränke erneut bestellen mussten.
Nachdem wir fertig waren und noch Appetit auf ein Dessert hatten wurde der Nachbartisch bekellnert, allerdings wollte die Kellnerin unsere Teller wohl nicht abräumen. Als dies auch nach weiteren 15 Minuten Warten nicht erfolgt war, und kein Kellner sich mehr blicken ließ, war uns der Dessert-Appetit vergangen - wir gingen schließlich selber zum Thresen und baten um die Rechnung. Die Kellnerin konnte sich nicht einmal mehr an unsere Bestellung erinnern, diese mussten wir ihr also selber zum Kassieren vortragen.
Lange Rede kurzer Sinn: Netter Laden, wenn einem der Service egal ist und man für ein tatsächlich gutes Essen in Kauf nimmt, quasi sich selber bekellnern zu müssen.
Randnotiz: Mit jedem Kassieren wird automatisch 1€ an eine wohltätige Einrichtung gespendet. Anders als auf dem Infoblatt wird der 1€ aber nicht je Tisch, sondern wohl je Gast auf die Rechnung addiert. Weil es für einne guten Zweck ist, soll das recht sein, hätte aber eindeutiger genannt werden können.
