Our waiter, Helena really took care of us! She was just amazing! Reservation system a bit of a faff but other than that fantastic experience.

A. H.During our 10-day trip around Ireland this was our very best meal. We got so engrossed we basically forgot to take pictures! 🤣 Every dish (and we did order a lot of them 😇) was excellent, and the staff were equally kind and helpful throughout our meal. A fantastic wine list, to top it all off. NB: reservations have reopened! Reserve!!! The restaurant gets absolutely hopping but if you can (as we did) get it, then the back garden is highly recommended.
A. P.Best food I’ve had yet in my 3 trips to Ireland. We enjoyed the croquettes, chicken liver pâté, oysters, risotto, charcuterie and the duck over a lovely bottle of red. This spot had an amazing atmosphere to end our time in Kinsale. Service could be improved but overall highly recommend this spot if you’re craving great food with great company.

Make a booking no matter what time they have. The atmosphere is perfect, you’d swear you were somewhere far more tropical. The staff are sound and the food is all next level.
Got a mixture of dishes and the winner was the smoked mackerel pâté. I’d eat it out of a bucket with a spoon.
There’s also an original Seamus Heaney letter up on the wall (tells you everything about the care taken in the place).

Started with the croquettas - 4 small spheres of delight. This was followed by the crab ravioli which was delicious and the mackerel pate refreshing and light. Great wine selection and friendly and efficient staff. Highly recommend that you visit - we will certainly be back next time we are in Kinsale.

Friendly and superb service and delicious food all round. We ordered almost every plate on the menu and each was as delicious as the next.
The oysters, prawns, croquettas, mushrooms, cheese board were delicious. The bread with the Modena Balsamic and extra virgin oil were
so so tasty.
Our waiter, Helena was excellent.

K. M.A rather nice wine bar with nice food options. What makes this place great is the nice service and the restaurant's atmosphere. They have a little outdoor where you can eat too. The main courses/antipasti are quite tasty. However, the dessert, the special of the day, rosscaberry strawberries with whipped cream, while still good was not extraordinary either. The location is in O'Connell upper street so no nice view available. I highly recommend this place if you wish to have a nice evening.

The food is very good as well. We got the charcuterie board, cheese board and the vegetarian antipasto board to start. Followed by some more dishes, one of the favourites was the smoked mackrel paté. It was a very relaxing and civilized way to eat.

No not really, either sit at the bar or tell them you will eat fast. Try the raviolis, they are amazing. The shrimp is tasty, but it’s softer shrimp. Service is great. The place is warm and inviting. Great wine list. This is a not-to-miss place. Worth going out of your way for.

A. S.We walked by this restaurant and decided spontaneously to have dinner there. Luckily someone canceled so we got a table. The restaurant is tiny and very cozy. There is a little terrace in the back with very nice lighting and decoration which makes you feel like you’re in a mediterranen country. The staff is extremely friendly and makes a big effort to make you feel welcome and comfortable. The menu is small and very clever. All dishes we had were cooked to perfection. The chef really focuses on combining the flavors of the different ingredients while making sure that none of these flavors is dominating so the dishes are perfectly balanced. Every dish is an amazing experience and leaves you exited for the next one. At this point I need to mention the dessert. I had the mango frozen yogurt which doesn’t sound special - but it absolutely was. I have never had a better frozen yogurt. The flavor was absolutely amazing. I highly recommend this restaurant if you want to have a genuine, honest and very clever flavor experience combined with a beautiful ambience and super friendly staff - and all of this for a very reasonable price. There is absolutely nothing to complain about and I can’t wait to go back there. Thank you for a fantastic evening!

Overall best food and service we’ve had over the last week in Ireland. World class.

Have never had a bad experience there or if I have I don't remember it. Maybe I was trying to keep other people away so I could get a table! Apologies to the Black Pig. One of our favourite places.
L. J.This is probably the best restaurant in Ireland! I was visiting from the States and my local friends got us a reservation here for dinner. Our evening started out with the owner helping us pick out a couple bottles of wine. Both bottles were exceptional! After choosing the wine we started ordering food. We probably tried most of the menu and everything we had was delicious! I mean really full of beautiful flavors! And the ambiance of the restaurant was warm and welcoming. Perfect for a date night or a night out with good friends! I highly recommend eating here, but make sure you make a reservation.

Shared a tapas platter to start then crab ravioli and Dublin Bay prawns. Seafood was amazing. Friendly well informed service from staff. Similar to Brawn on Columbia Road.

B. P.The Black pig was recommended to us by a friend from a local friend. We made reservations 3 weeks in advance and it was still limited space. I can definitely see why! Everything was phenomenal. Its a tight squeeze, they fit at many tables as possible it their small space. We were lucky to sit next to the book shelf and our servers tucked the plates onto the shelves, which may sounds silly but was fun and quirky. The highlights were by far the Dublin bay prawn special and the mushroom toast.

S. S.We ended a full day exploring Kinsale in The Black Pig because of the amazing reviews and it did not disappoint! The atmosphere is perfect, quaint & relaxing with a warm, cozy feel. Food was fantastic! We had oysters, mushrooms on toast & the crab raviolis and I recommend them all! The staff were all great but Siobhan went out of her way to help me choose the perfect wine to go with our food selections. She was also very helpful with suggestions on places to see to make the rest of our Ireland trip the best. We loved that little bit of extra that went above and beyond what was necessary. So happy we stopped here!

Also had the carpaccio, which was very good. Not sure that their high praise is completely deserved given their relatively limited menu, but definitely a quality place for a light meal and glass of wine.

Tucked away on an alley heading up from the down town the Black Pig is a test from the very start. Incredible uniqueness work the interiors and a menu to satisfy full meal or tapas-like dining. S. R.You can't go wrong with a visit to the Black Pig. Amazing array of food - think beef carpaccio, duck breast, boeuf bourguignon, charcuterie boards... all the finest produce sourced locally from quality purveyors of their products.
Then imagine a wine list as long as your arm. Double it. You're halfway there. Nearly. Don't choose your own; just tell the very knowledgeable staff what you like and they'll recommend a glass to go with your food. A glass costs proportionately the same as a bottle so you can choose a different wine with each course.
Booking is essential as it's cosy alright and don't be afraid if you're offered a table in the garden. It's a true Irish garden with roof, heaters and blankets.
Stop reading this and ring them immediately to see if they've a space for you.

Their wine list is extensive and covers a very broad range of regions from around the world. You can't go past a bottle of my favorite australian drop, John Duval's Plexus.
L. N.Some of the best pig I ever ate. The charcuterie was good, but they had this acorn fed pig turned ham that was hung for who knows how long. It was a great place to sip on some wine and slowly munch on some grub.

Wir kommen auf jeden Fall wieder!!! Ich bin sprachlos und gleichzeitig könnte ich nur in hohen Tönen von diesem Restaurant sprechen!!! Wie haben leider nur kurzfristig einen Platz an der Bar bekommen, dennoch war hier alles perfekt! Der Service ist eingespielt und hat Spaß an seiner Arbeit. Das Essen war bislang eines der besten!!!
