E. C.Fabulous Steakhouse. Flame grilled steak grilled on open fire in front of us. Steak a teeny bit over what we like, but that was our own fault for asking medium-rare, we should have asked for rare, as they used thermometer etc so it was exactly as it should be. We’ll know for next visit.
The flavour of open fire was so good on steak. Brought me back about 30 years!
Fabulous atmosphere. Lovely lovely staff. I’d walk 500 miles for those Parmesan & Truffle Fries again. Everything was perfect. Thank you!!!
P. D.Railway tavern knows how to cook their steak! All I can say is perfect medium rare ribeye steak 👌🏾. I commend the steak chef! All appetizers and desserts were delicious too! Scallops, chili beef nachos, ciabatta cheesy bread and spicy wings. Yummy!

It's a little hidden but it's a hidden little gem.

Great place for a steak they are cooked on an open fire which resembles an old railway engine.
Great dinning experience and will be back.
Great for a romantic meal or small get togethers highly recommend about 15 min drive north of derry but worth the drive and Great seaside location to watch the sun set.

J. D.Had a lovely meal, been a while since we last visited, decided to have the burger instead of the steak, which I would normally have, and it turned out to be an excellent choice. The steak done on the open grill would normally be the only reason for a visit to the Firebox but I'm glad I decided on the change this time. But do go for the steak and try without the sauces, nothing like it out there.

When calling to book the staff were very informative on the menu options as we had 2 dogs with us so would be dining outside. The food and service did not disappoint. We ate from the light bites menu and every dish was very generous and delicious. Overall a great experience, enhanced by the really friendly service. Would recommend
E. D.A gem! Ate here twice on a recent trip to Buncrana. The restaurant and beer garden where beautiful and immaculately clean. The menu was extensive. We had dogs which they accommodated with grace. The fillet steak was fabulous and only outdone by the staffs friendliness, competency and attention to detail. Strongly recommend a visit if you are nearby.

G. H.It has a lovely atmosphere and charm to it. The staff were friendly but service was slow. A combination of shortage of staff and bad management. It took 10minutes to be acknowledged when we arrived and a further 10 to be seated after that even though we had a reservation. It was difficult to order a drink at the bar whilst we waited (wasn’t that busy). Moving on to food. Our starters were delicious. We tried the soup and Goats cheese Salad. The Goats cheese salad was delicious with generous portions of cheese. Moving on the main we ordered the Fillet and the medallion both to be medium. The medallion was cooked perfectly and a good cut of steak. Top marks for this and well worth the wait. The fillet was lightly seared and was rare or what I would call Blu. I asked the waitress if she could ask the chef to throw it on the grill for another 30 seconds. She apologized and returned with another steak shortly after. This was also cooked very rare and the cut of meat was poor and fatty. Very disappointing. Moving on to dessert we had the apple crumble and fudge sundae both were delicious. However afterwards we waited some time to request the bill. We eventually decided to head out to the bar to pay where we had to wait a further 10mins to pay. Has great potential.

e. m.Came here with family and friends. The food was amazing, large portions and very well thought out menu for both adults and kids. It has a lovely country pub atmosphere with open coal fires burning. They have a good selection of draft and bottled beer. Attentive and very helpful staff, it is a lovely restaurant and I would definitely go back and highly recommend this restaurant if you are in the area.

Coat and warm, the smell of woodsmoke from the open grill for your steak or burger adds to the overall enjoyment of a visit.
The ribeye steak is a great choice.

J. M.Don't let the exterior and surroundings deter you, we were hoping for something with a view of the water but the staff and welcoming interiors totally made up for it. The menu had one vegan option only (Thai red curry) which does not normally bode well, but it was really tasty. Well done!

M. K.Met with friends and the 6 of us dined here during the week. Firstly, the food was fantastic and we lapped it all up! Thank you. Secondly, however, in a Covid-19 era, things are problematic. The venue is very small. Social distancing is extremely difficult to achieve. The staff were all lovely- nice to see local young people getting employed- but there was inconsistency in protection. Like other settings, people were sometimes wearing visors that offer little protection...unless a person was to cough or aerosolise directly in your face. And offers no protection to clients. Viruses, believe it or not, can go round corners. I would advocate face coverings for all staff.
Finally we were seated upstairs and it was very warm indeed. Better ventilation needed.
But food was fantastic. And we really liked the flavour of the coffee!

This restaurant is both casual and smart, you can call in after a day touring Inishowen or dress up and go for that special meal in a lovely relaxed atmosphere.

J.1st time at this lovely little restaurant and was really looking forward to it, however the experience was “marred” by the waitresses who we found to be extremely surly & unhelpful, even though the restaurant was not busy at the time, it was as if they couldn’t care less, just had a fight with each other (not us), were disgruntled, or pre-occupied about something more important, otherwise food delivery was quick. The food was hot and tasty, (not fantastic) and much more expensive than expected, we were not advised to order side dishes separately - the large tender lamb shank came quoted with “roast vegetables" on the menu, but were non-existent on the plate !!!, on enquiry - the vegs are mixed into the mash !!!, we did notice some flecks in the mash so it must have been true !!!, the Crispy Sea Bass was a novel tasty dish, several small fillets of fish in a tasty veggie/ garlic cream sauce and again IMHO very overpriced for the smallish portion. We didn't leave hungry but given the waitresses strange attitude and poor value for money, we would be reluctant to return. The Chef and barman were both excellent, the €27 steaks looked yummy, if you go for one - don’t forget to order your side dishes at €3.95 each.

B. D.Have eaten at the Firebox Grill in Fahan a few times recently and have always gone for the steak - which is simply delicious. Restaurant has a relaxed atmosphere and staff are friendly and efficient. The restaurant is close to a large marina and a sandy beach at Lisfannon.

C.Was greeted by a lovely older gentleman who I believed was the manager Ronan, who got us booked in and got us a couple of drinks, we were then show to are table by a strapping handsome young man who is a local, serviced then by who we found out was his sister who was absolutely gorgeous, the chefs very very good displaying there wears on and open grill which the steaks were perfection, thanks Donald, overall fantastic experience and would highly recommend, will be back in the future really soon
