This was my first time visiting The Fish Shack Malahide. The place is nice and cosy, with plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. We were greeted on the arrival and after we have shown our covid passes, we were seated inside the restaurant. Three of us ordered halloumi fries and grilled whole gambas (whole shrimp) with sourdough for starters. And for mains two plates of Fritto Misto that included a fillet of haddock, crispy calamari, scampi, fries & garlic aioli. And a special of the day a Monkfish with bacon & leek cream, samphire & mustard and turmeric mash. The monkfish dish was the hit of the dinner, although everything was delicious. Great service too! Highly recommend.

Excellent, friendly and welcoming. I had the Fritto Misto and my wife had the fish tacos. The fish has to be 5 star ⭐️ plus, washed down with an excellent white wine. The restaurant has a nice vibe, the staff are very efficient and very attentive without being pushy. Beats my favourite Italian fish restaurants , Oswaldo’s and La Vela on Lake Garda by a mile.

The Fritto Misto was what I ordered and it was served very quickly by our warm, welcoming waitress. All food items in my fritto misto (squid, shrimp, fish) were salted perfectly and I liked the very crispy texture. Add in the lemon and the dip and you've good a delectable seafood-based light lunch. I loved the Fish Shack in Temple Bar and I'm a fan of this one in Malahide too. Hope they start serving oysters during lunch time too. Overall, it was a very good experience and I highly recommend them!

Lovely outdoor area with nice menu and even if you are not big fan of the fish, you have different burgers in the menu too. The food came fast and not greasy, we order tacos and calamari both was fabulous and the apple and berry crumble sensational. We got also 2 beers and 2 glasses of wine, the bill was €63. Interesting place. As name, the menu is based on fish. I gave a star less because I ordered the most expensive menu, it was not bad, but portion was quite small. I had to order an addional portion of chips. It was quite crowded and as a result the service was a bit messy. I received a beer that I did not order, but I had to wait quite a long time for the bill, more than I waited for the menu.

We went to Fish Shack for dinner last night on the recommendation of a couple of locals. The place was clean, service was friendly, and the food was fantastic! We had fish and chips and seafood chowder- absolutely scrumptious! All of it! If you are in Malahide, you must eat here!!

Quiet setting off the main street. Staff were pleasent, although we couldn't understand why we were told there were was only one table available when there was hardly anyone there inside or out. Beautiful chowder for starter, a real winner and very delicious. Perfect on a cold winter's day. Less impressed with their fish tacos which were served in an unappetising manner. You had to make it yourself too and they had avocado spread rather than actual avocado as a topping, suggesting low emphasis on ingredient quality. I'd like to try some of the fried fish if I'm ever in this part of Dublin again.

I love this place! Myself and my boyfriend went here last night. The staff are so friendly, really welcoming and efficient. I have allergies and the staff were very helpful with this. The fish and chips batter is gluten free as-well. Which is pretty tasty you wouldn’t even know it’s GF. Great place to go for a relaxing chill meal in comfortable surroundings with nice music and sound staff. 🤩

Food was nice my issue is with the takeaway. Ordered for 12.10 but when I got there they hadn't check the pre orders. I came from Donabate just for FishShack on my lunch break. Had to wait before food being ready and because the delay I was late for a meeting so couldn't eat lunch straight away. I would maybe eat in but never again takeaway if I don't want to get in trouble with work.

This is a gorgeous little place with the most delicious food. We got fish nachos and calamari for starters which were so good. Burger and chips and panko prawns for mains were fab too. The staff are friendly and quick. Only let down was the dirty toilet.

What a great seafood dining place in this beautiful town by the sea! Casual yet festival. Well decorated for family or group. Got kids menu. The mussels (starter) were to die for!! Sooo sweet & delicious! We had to order a second bucket after the first! The catch special of the day was grilled Megrim Sole. Very tasty! I also liked their seafood medley in fish & tomato stock too! Their chips (fries) were made with fresh potatoes that had a distinctive yumminess to it, which reminds me of Peru’s. Very different than other chips I had. All in all our group of 6 adults & 4 kids really enjoyed our dinner!! Service was great & friendly. The only bone I had to pick was that the rosé wine was not pre-chilled. I had to wait til my entreé had arrived before it was probably chilled. Perhaps I should have gone for their house branded draft beer ;) Yes they have their own house brewed (not on premise) draft beer on taps. 4 different beer. They have a great patio area where ones can seat, have a beer, and chill.

For the first meal out in 18 months, I honestly could not have picked a better place to go. The food was absolutely amazing. From the moment you arrive, the staff are great looking after you. We ordered mains, drinks and two orders of chips which are the best I have tasted anywhere. Guinness on tap which is top-notch quality. Seafood pesto linguine was delicious, Atlantic Prawn Tacos were epic and the Frito Misto got rave reviews as well. The food is very well-priced and portions are generous. Charlie and the team looked after us extremely well. The restaurant has plenty of indoor and outdoor seating with heaters. Friendly and relaxed, so perfect for families too. Chicken and beef burgers on offer for those not into seafood. Desserts and coffee are hard to pass up too. You would genuinely struggle to beat the freshness and quality of seafood on offer here. Highly recommended!!

Delicious! We’ve been traveling around Ireland for a week from the US and this might have been our favorite meal. We ordered the mussels on special, a Po’Boy, crabs claws, and apple-berry crumble. Everything was spectacular. We had a bit of a wait between ordering and getting our food but we had a drink and didn’t mind. It’s a casual atmosphere with both indoor and outdoor dining, and we were blown away by the top notch food.

The food was lovely and the outdoor dining area is beautiful, however, more training should be provided to the staffs.....had to ask 3 times for wine glass and a pint of larger and waited for more than 1 hour for our main course after we have finished our starters. We also ordered chips with our main course and it only arrived after we have finished our food... They didnt charge us for the chips at the end.

I sat outside as it was such a gorgeous sunny day (in October!) and ordered what I can only describe as a weird combo, but I fancied eating both: seafood chowder for starter and calamari for main. Delicious! I loved that the chowder had celery instead of those boring chunks of carrot you usually get, the flavour is much better! Calamari were crispy outside and tender inside. I had to walk for hours to burn the calories but it was worth it! Service was friendly. Recommended.

We decided to visit the restaurant based on 4+ restaurant rating. However the overall experience was mediocre if not poor. Overall here are a few plus and areas of improvements. +The staff is warm and friendly and quick to think on their feet. +The location is excellent and specially the outdoor seating. Parking could be tough being the heart of Malahide but that’s expected. +Food choice is quite limited but is okay. Although the grilled fish was not up to the mark and we did not see any crab dishes. Seafood Linguini, Scampi and fried fish were good. -The service is pretty lousy to say the least. We were seated outside and bring a group of 8 we were subject to a service charge of 10% however the service was extremely slow despite not that many customers. -The food choices are limited and there is absolutely nothing vegetarian on the menu except side dishes and salad. -The worst part are the toilets. They were extremely dirty and lacked maintenance for a restaurant with 4.4+ rating.

Visited the Fish Shack a few times. The last visit didn’t leave a good impression. Feels like the quality is slipping. The quality and portions are not as good as they used to be. For example the fish and chips dish used to come with 2 nice meaty battered fish parts now they come with two skinny almost fish finger like slithers so tastes more of batter than actual fish (picture added for reference). Also the superfood salad with prawns was not as exciting as it sounded on the menu and after eating the dish I realized blueberries do not go with prawns! However, having said that the staff are actually so lovely and the seating/atmosphere is very nice (minus the cheesy pop music) so it’s such a shame that the food really lets down the place.

We had chicken nuggets and chips for 2 kids, a chowder and chips & a hake special from the board for 2 adults. 2 ice cream deserts for kids, 2 Eton Messes for adults. Food was ok, adult mains were tasty enough and the kids liked theirs. Eton messes really were disappointing. €6:50 each for a small glass portion of few pieces of meringue, cream and a slice of a strawberry, it didn’t taste of a whole lot to be honest.☹️ One thing we had an issue with is the chips, if they were cut any smaller they’d be like potato peelings. And like a recurring theme in most restaurants putting a very small portion of chips in a small bowl. Wish they’d just put decent chips in a decent size portion bowl or just on the plate. The humble potato doesn’t cost a fortune but with the portion sizes we got and the ones I saw being put on other tables you’d think they were scarce !!. If you’re going to put small portion bowls out at least fill them up to a respectable level with decent chips. 🤷🏻‍♂️ With 1 pint of lager and a Coke Zero the bill came to €80 which I felt was a touch pricey for what we had.

It's a really nice place in the middle of Malahide. The food is excellent, we had chowder, fish tacos, peri peri prawns, everything was very well cooked. They have also super tasty deserts and top class cocktails. My wife loved her delicious Espresso Martini. The crew is very kind and they have a small area to eat outside without being in the actual street. We had such a great time to be honest. I wish they had more variety on beers. The only craft beer they had was Rascals. Get more Irish breweries in the menu and I'll give the 5 stars!

We always enjoy the Fishshack food and have dined there many times. Decided to try the takeaway service on Saturday night just passed. Ordered fish and chips, calamari and chips, scampi and chips + burger and chips. As usual the quality of the food looked good but it arrived cold. We microwaved the food to try and reheat it but it is never the same as fresh and hot. I looked for an email address to give this feedback, rather than a public post but you do not have one on the website. I don't know how you transport your takeaway food but it is not working and I suggest you need to try and resolve the issue as it is a shame to have such great food arrive cold. I look forward to being able to dine in at Fishshack Malahide again soon.

I am genuinely sorry to give 3 stars because the staff was so nice and attentive and also the interior design is very lovely. However, the fish was really not crispy and the scampi was soft and soggy. I can't say it was the most delicious scampi or deep fried haddock, quite soft and average stuff.

Have been here a couple times and i love it. I heard about it from a friend and was not dissappointed. The food is fresh and tasty. The staff are polite and friendly. Very reasonably priced. Both occasions i got the seafood platter, everything on it is delish but in particular the calamari is the best iv had anywhere. I have also tried the oysters and scampi and 0 complaints about either. if you like seafood this is the place. its a lovely, informal laid back spot that is suitable for any occasion. il be sure to be back on plenty more visits to this spot.
