A. D.Many times we have visited this place while visiting relatives and we've never been disappointed. It was lovely as an entire family to sit together. Lovely venue and amazing food. The staff were very attentive to all our needs and we received our food quickly and hot.
G. C.Thought we would try Browns on the Green in Tyrellspass for a late lunch/early dinner. I have passed by this eatery a 100 times but never had time to pop in.
There is lots of kerbside parking at the main entrance as well as customer parking at the rear where we parked. We opted for the spacious covered outside seating area.
After waiting 15 minutes for a menu, which wasn't a good start ,we ordered drinks and food. There was a party from a funeral so we made allowances. However, when 4 different servers attend your table of 5 then communication gets crossed. After two mix ups about food and pricing we got our food.
The food was beautifully presented and portion size was generous. It was a pity that our young adults couldn't get food from the kids menu or half portions. The difference in a kids steak and chips jumps from 9.95 euro to 27.50 euro on the main menu. We expected to pay extra but not more than double.
The dessert menu sounded lovely so we all got dessert. Cheesecake with a rhubarb coulis was delicious but served in a really small glass. Apple crumble was delicious but the Affogato was served with luke warm coffee ,missing the shortbread and nothing was said until I asked where the shortbread was. There was no alternative biscuits available which was disappointing as it was just 1 scoop of vanilla ice cream with a shot of cold espresso. We were allowed to order desert off the kids menu but not a main course ?? A senior staff member offered 1 euro discount off the dessert which was a bit insulting as it could and should have been complimentary. The bill wasn't too bad at 112 euro for 5 people.
The service was ok and although the staff were friendly they clearly lacked training and menu knowledge which would help them enormously. I am sympathetic to the problems after Covid but now is the time to deliver great customer service so guests will keep coming back and that's what we want isn't it??

Sorry I did not try the Tomahawk Steak which looked like it would feed a small country, but there is always the next visit. Highly recomend eating here.

M. M.I always enjoed eating out until i had a stroke which affected my swallow and although this was explained to the waitress who in turn explained it to the chef my vegetables were so hard that i couldnt swallow them. A tin of chick peas does not make a thai curry

G. C.We have just spent the best two days in Brownes. We were a walking group of 18 and 9 of us stayed in the accommodation and we all had dinner and breakfast there. The place is just gorgeous, the staff simply can not do enough for you no matter what the request. Seriously hospitable place, great food and service and clean safe accommodation tastefully done. A.The food is nice but nothing spectacular. A bit on the expensive side with a somewhat dead atmosphere. Service lacking, was half way through my meal before I was eventually given the gravy id asked for.
B. L.This is the perfect place to stop for a meal if you are on a road trip.
The bacon and cabbage portions were bountiful and consisted of thick cuts of bacon (more like slices of ham) for €12.95. This dish was doused in a creamy parsley sauce and included whipped potatoes on the side.
The other dish we enjoyed was the Chicken Wrap €7.95. It consisted of Cajun spiced chicken, crisp lettuce, red onion, and Cajun spiced mayo. As many times as “Cajun spiced” was used, I figured it would be pretty spicy. But it was not the case. The wrap was very good, but don’t expect anything spicy.
They have a couple of beers on tap, including Guinness and Carlsberg. They also have
6 or 7 bottled beers including Smithwicks and even Budweiser. Pints of Smithwicks are €5.10

J. 1.Happened to be driving up the country today, looking for morning coffee and stopped here! What a lovely, quaint place complete with village green and this lovely little hotel on one side of it! Sitting outside in the sun at one of their umbrella tables we had 2 lovely hot lattes. I made the BIG mistake of ordering only one scone which with jam and cream turned out to be melt in the mouth gorgeous! Would LOVE to have stayed longer but we were getting too relaxed and had to get back on the road! Would definitely recommend and BTW excellent service and spotlessly clean toilets etc.

Had 2 staff serving our table, Jane and David and both were very friendly and helpful. Jane's recommendation of the Indian Curry for my main course was superb, only regret was I couldn't eat more! Would highly recommend Brownes for any occasion.

Slightly off topic of the food, the kids high chairs are immaculate. I usually hate putting my child into one when we are out because they're normally so disgustingly dirty. This is a sure sign they

If I were hungry and there, I'd stop, as it doesn't look like there's much better around, but it did make a bit of a dent in my wallet.

We asked the waitress why there was a difference in size',
my friend suggested it was a mixer bottle, the waitress said i don't know, we asked was the price the same for both, she replied i wouldn't think so.

Over the two evenings i did early bird.
Very fresh aldente veg, lots of mash. Gluten free sauces. Excellent chicken wings. VERY good duck, not the usual vacuum packed pre cooked version that has become the norm everywhere else.
Lamb shank was excellent, I should know, I was a sheep farmer in a former life, perfectly aged.
Caprese salad, with runny mozzarella, fresh tomatoes and fresh pesto.
And dessert... strawberry roulade. Fresh, homemade, fresh cream. Superb.
