This is a fantastic restaurant, with private seating areas and an extremely wide menu, this restaurant is well worth the visit. I had the bruschetta to start , which was delicious with tomatoes and onions, the roast beef as my main and a brownie for dessert. My partner had the wings and ribs and the minute steak sandwich as a main. This restaurant is well worth the visit, if your driving through Portlaoise. *unfortunately my photos are pink, as the lighting is quite dark, that would be my only complaint.

First time out since the aformentioned has reopened, delicious pints and food that could be considered as a fairly standard affair in regards to a carvery. That being said the customer service was impeccable and the greeter and till person were of particular note. As someone who recently moved to Portlaoise I can see myself choosing the bog road as "my new local".

Lovely Food and very friendly staff. Most helpful. even when they are out the door busy they don't loose their kindness. Only thing that annoyed me was a family of five who spent over almost €80 on food when I look at the bill we got charged €4 for jug of cordial. I get there is time in providing the glasses & water but when getting a meal I feel its a bit much to charge €2/jug.

A nice pub and restaurant, located on the outskirts of portlaoise, on the tullamore side. Stopped in for some lunch on the way home, had a very filling omelette, very tasty. Staff were friendly and place was very clean. Covid checks were in place also. Would come back again👍

So happy I came here. There was a fine selection of different dishes on the menu. There was 5 of us and we each ordered something different. All the meals came out piping hot and we're delicious. Staff was well trained and very polite. The next time I'm in Portlaoise I'll be definitely stopping by

Always a good experience at the bog road. Food is always tasty and very good selection from their lunch time carvary to their food in the bar there is something to suit everyone. The staff are always friendly and efficient. Would highly recommend for a nice relaxing lunch or dinner with family and friends. Small kids are also welcome as we usually bring our small baby with us.

Lovely food, bad service, was left waiting half hr+ for mains whilst customers who sat after us were served first!! No apology or explanation when I asked at bar if there was a problem with order. I appreciate it was quite busy but a simple apology would have been great, also seating is awful! Squashed into a corner 14a , might as well have been having dinner with guests beside as we heard each others conversations and bumped off each other....regularly!! Shame as food was lovely but we won't be back!

A great restaurant always has a great selection of tasty dinners and their well presented with generous portions and always hot.They also have a good selection of delicious desserts and nice coffees too.The staff are very friendly and helpfull.I would highly reccomend the bog road if you want quality food and drinks.

The bog road is amazing. The menu caters for everybody's need and the thai food menu is amazing!!! The staff are so helpful and work very efficiently so ordering and arrival of food is fast and no waiting around which is great when your hungry. 100 percent recommend.

Visiting from the states, best food I’ve had since I’ve been here and at a great price, 10 euros at lunch for roast beef and sides. What we would call cafeteria style in the US but they call it carvery here. They also have a traditional menu apart from the carvary. Friendly staff.

Twice now we have been brought out our dinners at a separate time. After ordering all together. 2 of us had ours ate by the time my daughters dinner was brought out. Wouldn't mind it was only mash and veg she wanted. Then asked waitress for dessert menu she never brought it. Then eventually when we did order dessert we were waiting 25 mins for it to come out. Myself and my boyfriend went in for a meal, very busy spot and we were lucky to get a seat.. for starters I had chicken and mushroom Vol au vent and my boyfriend had the chicken wings. Unfortunately mine was luke warm and my boyfriends food was stone cold. Nobody came back to ask if everything was ok for us. We ate our food because we were starving and we weren't expecting much for our main course but thankfully it saved the experience, I ordered Thai green curry with chicken and noodles, it was amazing. I felt like I was back in Thailand again. I spent quite a bit of time in South East Asia so when it comes to Thai food I would be critical, it was so nice that what I couldn't finish I got to take away. My boyfriend had one of the burgers with bacon and egg on it with chips , the burger itself was huge and he really enjoyed it. Chips were really nice too.. I ordered a fanta orange and it was flat so I didn't drink it. if we were to go back again I wouldn't order starters or drink but I would like to try more of their Thai menu. Staff were efficient. it was such a pity the starters let us down.

Top team of staff always extremely friendly , the pub it's self is always very busy so seating can be hard got if you come in randomly but your always looked after promptly the food is amazing and away hot an fresh an well presented the menu is a little bit pricey but it's truly worth it .
