D. S.Located at the tip of the "Viking Triangle," The Reg is a great respite from touring the shops and attractions of Waterford.
The food is outstanding and reasonably priced. Be sure to include the soup of the day as these are particularly tasty.
The bar is well-stocked with draught beer and stronger spirits, and the bartenders are well-adapted to mixing specialty drinks.
There is a second-floor terrace where music is featured.
There are several dining areas and is accessible for the mobility-challenged.
Outside the restaurant is a viking-ship replica and other excellent backdrops for selfies.
S. O.Absolutly devine, now there were some minor issues hence the 4 instead of 5 stars, but great to be back out in a restaurant. The two boys serving out table on the terrace were fantastic ! The girls let the team down not as attentive but litterly food and seen in photos was delightful, the calamari was so tasty and cooked brilliantly. Brother got the steak it was cooked to perfection. Everyone really enjoyed their meal. My burger was just a tad over cooked but was still a bit juicy so as I said nothing major. Just a few small things here and there, one of the girls was half away with us trying to order more drinks. I recommend the fish and chips or the steak have yet to try the hot and cold seafood platter which I will do next time ! Thanks again

C.We sat in the part with the vaulted ceiling and the stone wall booths, it was so so nice with a lamp on each table. Great for intimate drinks. I was with friends and we had such a good time, staff were super friendly. Gorgeous toilets, but the entrance to them is shabby and messy and the doors appear dirty because when u go inside the toilets are very spacious and well laid out, I guess the outside doesn't match the inside.
S. K.This is very good pub. It is one of the best pub sin Waterford City Center. Their is pub food in the pub downstairs and more of a restaurant setting upstairs. The space is quiet big and is able to host big groups.
The quality of food is quiet impressive and prices are reasonable.
The service is nice and efficient.
They often have live music sessions encouraging local band and performers. A dance floor is also available.
This is a late disco pub that closes at 2:30am and not at 12:30am.
I highly recommend this place for a night out in Waterford.

C. E.The Reg is a fun place in an interesting location, in the heart of the Viking Triangle.
Prior to going to The Reg, we spent some time in the Viking Triangle as there are some interesting and fun things to see and do. There is a cannonball lodged in the upper part of Reginald’s Tower that is supposedly left there from the English siege of Waterford in 1650. We were able to visually locate the cannonball in the tower. I was trying to imagine what it was like to be there when the cannonball struck the tower.
After exploring the Viking Triangle, we stopped in The Reg for a bite to eat. The weather was very nice so we opted for seating on the Roof Terrace. This was an excellent choice.
The food was very good, the prices were good, and the staff was very friendly and attentive. I had the Chowder, which I have come to love, during our visit to Ireland. It did not disappoint. My burger was very good, in spite of being cooked medium by law. I prefer medium-rare but unfortunately for me, that's not available here.
The Reg has many bars and dining rooms of varying sizes. Navigating the restaurant, for those unfamiliar with its layout, can be challenging in a fun sort of way.
I think The Reg is a wonderful place and I'm very glad that we had the opportunity to stop in and have a meal here. The food, the service, the building itself and the people all came together to provide for a truely memorable gastronomic experience. Check it out, I think that you will be glad that you did.
C. H.Stopped off here for a spot of lunch on a Saturday afternoon. It was relatively quiet, but I'd say it gets busy in the evening. Decor was fantastic, food great and the staff (Conall in particular) did more than expected of them to make us feel comfortable.
Well worth a visit.
R. S.Great pub, good range of craft beer including some local gems. Live music every night. Service was friendly and helpful. Food was delicious, especially the mussels and lamb shank. Only reason I did not give 5 stars is the burger was overcooked and dry. However we mentioned this when they cleared the plates, having not eaten most of it, and were offered an appology and a free dessert.

e. c.I mean this and have absolutely no doubt that here is where I ate the best chicken burger I've ever had, and probably the best anyone will ever have, I thought I liked chicken burgers already but after eating the one here I realized, I had never had a true chicken burger before, 4 large crispy chicken tenders between a smooth fluffy bun, with crisp green lettuce to top it off. I took a bite and as I looked a cross Waterford Harbor, a single tear fell from my eye as memories of all the past chicken burgers I've eaten came flooding back to me, as if they had all built up to this very moment. After eating this burger I am enlightened, I feel cleansed of all negative experiences with burgers in the past, I am truly a new man, I am inspired to become fluent in the Irish language and have started working out to finally reach my full physical and mental potential, thankyou The Reg. 10/10 would eat here again
L. R.This historical pub ambience made me feel like I was back in the 1700's from the moment I walked in. The dim lit cozy corners with antique decor and a fire crackling in the wood burning stove make this pub feel like the one in the hobbit movie. The whiskey tqsting board was well worth the price at only $15!

B. S.Staff and service is great. The food? Not so great. Without knowing the price you'd say its average, but when given that detail you kind of just want to leave it out of your life. The mashed potatoes was dry, I mean really dry. Chicken was heavily underseasoned and to be honest the best part was the creamy leeks. That part was actually good, but not worth it's price.

We had our date here during the semi final, nether of us are interested in sports but loved the faint background noise,
The host a lovely guy with a cool multi facetattoo on his arm said we could go upstairs for dessert its quite and we could listen to the music in piece, him and another skinny brunette were so amazing!
Upstairs we got the brownies !! HIGHLY RECOMMEND omg you have to take a moment for each spoon just to appreciate how mouthwatering it is! We also got chicken fillets 🥰💯
We said its our future spot for monthly fancy dates.
Also who ever is in charge of music was amazing! classic 70s rock songs and amazing romantic music, had us dancing in our seats and slow dancing upstairs.

Cosy place to have lunch with nice staff. The menu is quite extensive. The fish and chips was unfortunately very greasy. My co-travelers enjoyed their chicken wrap so may be just a bad day for the fish and chips.

Really nice atmosphere main was lovely wasn't killed on the desert I had deconstructed cheesecake is what it was on the menu as but not enough biscuit with it for me. Staff were lovely and really attentive regularly checking if everything was ok. Would recommend booking if it was a weekend night you were looking to book for was busy last night (Thursday night). Only down side is there isn't separate toilets for the restaurant upstairs you have to go back down to use the toilets in the bar but that is just a personal choice for me about separate toilets

P. F.A superb meal and exceptional service. We ate at the upstairs Suas area, and I had a short rib that may have been the best I've ever had. Positively melted in my mouth, and was preceded by an excellent seafood chowder. The service was gracious and prompt, and our dining party was left wanting for nothing. Definitely would come back when in Waterford again.

O. A.First of all, the place is huge. If you didn't find a place to sit, you didn't look very hard - which is fine, ask one of the friendly staff to set you up. They have at least 4 bars (that I saw, there are likely more).
Secondly, the staff is so friendly and helpful.
Lastly, but most importantly, their food is great! There's a large selection and a set menu to get a nice 2 or 3 course meal for really good value. And the food was amazing - we had the Slow Cooked Short Rib and the Pot Roasted Chicken and both were very good but more importantly, the dish (with the sides, vegetables and sauces) was put together marvelously with all the flavours working together to create a great experience.

S. S. F.I loved the decoration and the ambient. They have very nice music and the place is bigger enough to have hundreds of people inside without feeling like a canned sardine. There are many different rooms and a comfy terrace in the second flour. The service was also very nice with many waiters an waitresses that where friendly and effective.

D. B.Great place just behind Reginald's Tower in Waterford. We were asked if we'd like to sit on the roof terrace. What a nice dining atmosphere, overlooking the ancient tower. The Bacon and cabbage was really good. I didn't realize until this week here in Ireland that the Irish don't eat Corned Beef and Cabbage, but what they call Bacon and Cabbage. Their Bacon is what we call ham. It was served with mashed potatoes and I'm a cream sauce. Very good. My wife had a hamburger and it was special you.
I'd highly recommend this place.

N. K.Right beside Reginald's Tower in the heart of the historic area of Waterford City, the Reg offers good food and a pleasant atmosphere. They also cater for groups. I liked the service and the menu but wasn't there in the evening so can't comment on that, although it is extremely popular.

Came here for an early dinner our first day in Ireland. The staff was very friendly and welcoming. We were seated right away (because our jet lagged bodies didn’t realize it was only 5pm even though it was pitch black).
We ordered drinks and oysters right away. The drinks were delicious and I loved that there was a good selection of gin cocktails (my fave). The Thin Lizzy and Florarada were particular faves. One person ordered a whisky drink (old fashioned). He felt it was on the sweet side but enjoyed the bourbon. The oysters were absolutely delicious. Super briney. Sauce not needed. They come from a bay twenty minutes away according to our server. Highly recommend them.
Two of us shared the three course value option splitting the seafood chowder (scrumptious!), the mussels (delicious with a broth that reminded me of the inside of a pot pie and came with twice as many as I’d have expected for the price), and the creme brûlée (also yum!).
Everyone else ordered individually. Orders ranged from the fish and chips (one person loved, one thought it was fine) to a burger (excellent!) to the seafood pie (which was just meh to be honest, super cheesy and breast and hard to pick out the seafood among the richness). A couple of people also ordered the potato soup (on special) which was soupier and thinner than a lot of chunkier potato soups are. I personally liked it, but it go mixed reviews at the table and everyone agreed the seafood chowder was better.
Overall it was a great evening. We enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere. The food was mostly delicious and everyone enjoyed themselves. Conveniently located in the Viking triangle, it seems like a great spot for tourists and locals alike.

The reason for only 4 stars is I had to keep going downstairs for my drink as they don't have as good a selection in the upstairs bar.

Late bar/ nightclub vibe late at night good craic. Have live bands sometimes as well. Seperate pub area for quieter casual drinks too.

L. B.Came to The Reg a few weeks back for some food after work. The overall experience was average. I got a burger, which was nice, no complaints about that. However, the dessert I got, the Cromwell Cannon Ball, was probably the worst dessert I’ve ever had. The chocolate sauce tasted extremely watered down, and completely turned my stomach after my burger. The atmosphere created in the Reg is great, and the layout of the bar/restaurant is fab. Not to mention, the food is extremely affordable, just don’t get a Cromwell Cannon Ball.

S.have to say went to the reg for our first wedding anniversary the food was excellent the staff was so nice and helpful , but the only issue i had was that the main course was served to quick after the starter i need at least 10 to 15 minutes before the main course , but would go back no problem and the price was very good :) 72 euro for 2 starters 2 main courses 1 desert and 1 bottle of wine :)
