Reviews of Green Acres Restaurant and Wine Store

This was a really lovely restaurant. The staff were friendly and nice.
The atmosphere was lovely and we could dine inside with covid regulations.
The wine was brilliant and the waitress well able to advise us towards the right wine.
The food was delicious.
The restaurant was very clean and the toilets were very well kept.

Was delighted to have a New Year's Eve meal here. The food was delicious, the service was excellent. I feel I may be biased as I believe there's not another restaurant in Wexford to compare to the consistently high standards that Green Acres provides.

A little bit of food magic was had tonight. The tempura starter was so light and delicate but the monkfish simply shone. I believe the black sole whole fish (if you can get it) is also wonderful. Fair play folks. With staff down, you still pulled it out of the bag. Kudos!!!

Lovely food, including a couple of vegan dishes that weren't in the menu, but that they made. It was all beautifully presented. Nice people too

Amazing , there was a power outage at home so me a the partner decided to pop out to the closet restaurant and by some good luck it just so happened to be Green Acres . I had the Lamb and it blew my mind the quality is next to none and the service was accommodating to say I had no reservation. But sometimes the simplest things are the best for example there mashed potatoes was the most creamy, smooth & buttery mash I have ever tasted it was the highlight for me . The house wine was lovely also I can't believe I have been walking past this restaurant for nearly a year now, I just found a gem of a restaurant and can't wait to sample the whole menu . And to the young lad with the Addis mask on , you gave us better service then most of the top restaurants in Dublin incredibly polite and informative.

The staff are lovely, the place is sophisticated, the food is delicious.

My wife & I visited again Wexford City, Ireland, for a day outing, wednesday, May 22, 2019. We decided to have first our morning coffee break at Green Acres. My wife got some scones & jam with her coffee & I had a cheese cake served with a little whipped cream with Americano coffee. They were delicious. We sat in the cozy restaurant section. There is a good selection of coffee, scones & pastries available. Then we shopped at their specialty store as well as the Wine Shop. Highly recommendable place.
Friday evening, May 24, 2019, my wife & I enjoyed a 3 course dinner at Green Acres of Wexford. We took our time to choose what we fancied to eat & drink. I had seafood chowder as a starter with a glass of Riesling white wine. It was well prepared & delicious. For the main course, we got tender sirloin steaks with chips & other trimmings. We shared a bottle of red wine with the main meal. For dessert, I got creme brulee & coffee. Highly recommendable.
Monday morning, 27th May 2019, we had again coffee at Green Acres of Wexford, I tried their sticky toppy pudding. It was delicious.

What a fabulous food experience. Couldn’t fault it at all. So tasty & well presented. Restaurant atmosphere was perfect for my birthday treat with Hubby. The only thing let it down was the very loud Maitre De. He was loud & rude as we arrived for dinner. His team were obviously playing on match Wednesday night as at approx 8:30 he let out a huge roar of ‘yes get in’ so he must have been watching on his phone. You could hear his voice echo all round the restaurant which is out of place with the rest of the atmosphere.
We had an American waiter at our table & he should swap places as he was brilliant, very attentive but not in our face & approached us at all the right times. He was brilliant. So excellent food, excellent restaurant, excellent chef & wait staff but loud & obnoxious Maitre De.

Should have taken a picture of the food. Well presented! Fantastic tastes and lovely service. Really impressed at the quality. And quite a lot of locally sourced ingredients it seemed. I had lovely glass of Merlot as well. Wine menu looked extensive. A lot on offer by the glass as well. I'd definitely recommend to go here!

First visit to Greenacres and I was absolutely stunned by the quality of good. I ordered a seafood special which I have to say was well marinated with immaculate presentation. Dessert consisted of seasons fresh strawberries which was a delight. Staff extremely courteous. Will definitely make this place a regular!!!
M. I.
The food is amazing..I joined for the burns supper and that was great. The chef made his own haggis. Every single staff member goes out there way to help you and make you feel welcome. Their shop is full of really great food and wine.

My sister and I were in this outdoor restaurant on Wednesday 21/07/2021. We both had the smoked chicken, brie and pesto with salad and fries. Absolutely lovely. Waiting staff attentive and manager very nice. Got bill, left 5 euro tip. We returned to kilkenny to see ther was a 3 euro charge Why? The charges for lunch were consistent with other businesses. We are not abroad. A glass of white wine was €9.50. Liked the food, the staff, the service and certainly did not like the service charge.
M. C.
Had the most wonderful meal in Green Acres. From the moment we arrived greated very warmly by Matthew. The food was absolutely faboulous, had tempura and appetiser to start both were really good, the appetiser selection was exceptional especially the croquettes and stuffed mushroom. Mains had chicken and duck, both dishes were fantastic served with generous and very hot portions of creamy mash and veg. Shared desert of chocolate tart which visually was a masterpiece and tasted as good. Waiting staff struck the balance of attentive but not intrusive. Cannot compliment Matthew his staff and chef Richie enough for a faboulous meal and really enjoyable evening. Already looking forward to our next visit.

Lovely food! Definitely call in again! Staff where very helpful! And very pleasant! 4 🌟 star
G. M. C.
Main course was nice and tasty although sides were small portions in relation to the pirce charged. Ordered dessert which never arrived, waited over 30 minutes before getting up to pay, charged for dessert on bill, when said that it never came, it was removed off the bill but there was no apology or any other mention. Not sure if I would return. Lovely venue, let down but customer service on this occasion.
A. B.
Amazing food. So impressed. Slow roasted lamb shoulder is a message at try. Pistachio creme brulé is so OMG!
M. M. C.
Amazing food, a nice choice on the menu.
Staff were polite and offer a good level of service.
There is a 10% service charge for the menu. We ordered a mocha coffee, the coffee was presented in an espresso cup which was not normal.
M. L.
Today was about the 5th time I've ordered a hamper here for either family or friends and I'm never disappointed or my relatives.
Wonderful person to order from with great patience and personalised service
E. R.
Excellent service and quality food in a very nice atmosphere.
D. B.
Food fabulous, great choice on menu. Food reasonably priced. If you like wine, this is the restaurant for you. Extensive choice of wine from around the world. Great deli shop too.
A. L.
What a great Wexford institution. Thoroughly enjoyed whole lobster in crab butter sauce. Wine selection and quality is superb. Service was good but not 5-star. Delicatessen next door worth a nosey.
R. M.
Had a fabulous dinner there last night.....The service was fabulous .. The staff are amazing people ...so genuine...❤️❤️
M. C.
Had a lovely lunch here today! Caesar salad very nice and chips were absolutely sensational! My partner ordered the monkfish scampi which I tasted and they were lovely, very fresh! Loved the decor and atmosphere! Would definitely come back again
G. S.
Decent food, nice atmosphere and friendly staff...Update.. Was here yesterday and must say lunch experience was not great..The Host was really friendly and professional..Other staff were very nice but I think the person who made our sandwiches was the one who brought them out.. She was not friendly at all and pretty much threw food at us and ran away.. Must not be a people person, which I can understand but the sandwich was really not good.. Dry and slapped together..Hard to mess up a sandwich.. Maby someone was having a bad day but neither of us could finish ours.. On plus side, the chips were great..So not worth the €27 at all and would not return.. Had been in many times in the past.. Seems like a change of ownership or something...
R. R.
Always a pleasure. Great food and service.
J. B.
great food, very good value
L. M.
Fabulous restaurant, went last year really enjoyed our meal ,wine was fabulous returned this year wasn't disappointed, would recommend it, will go back next time in Wexford
H. C.
I ordered a hamper from Green Acres as a gift and had it delivered. The service was exceptional - both Patrick and James were excellent.
I will definitely be purchasing again!
A. F.
A beautiful, homely and relaxed restaurant with food store attached with an extensive range of cheeses and wine along with fresh homemade cakes and pastries. A very nice, relaxing ambience with very welcoming staff. The food is very reasonably priced for the quality of fresh, organic food delivered. I have had the monkfish scampi on 2 occasions and been very pleased on both occasions with the quality, freshness of ingredients and portion size. Highly recommend for anyone visiting Wexford town
L. A. B.
Haven't eaten in the restaurant. The shop has a delicatessen and various gourmet, gift-appropriate, and Irish foods. We purchased hampers here, which were made up with the custom contents we chose ourselves, and these were reasonably priced.
R. O.
Fantastic place to have a meal. Strong recommendation, especially the appetiser sampler
b. b.
Nice restaurant with shop and art gallery attached. There is a grand piano in the art gallery; apparently anyone can drop in and play which is lovely. On the day we were there a gentleman had popped in after shopping and was playing wonderfully. Food in the restaurant was good quality with generous portions; steak perhaps a little salty for our taste. Excellent wine list and very knowledgeable sommelier. Would recommend.
M.
Lovely food, lovely staff. Great experience. Will definitely be back.
J. E.
A friend and I had a really wonderful night here - between us we have all the most awkward food allergies and the team went above and beyond to understand the allergies and take care of us - and the food was still incredible even without all the trimmings. The dessert was a unique masterpiece, the wine pairings were spot on and we felt super special. Highly recommend a visit!!
M. F.
Good food. A great place to stop for lunch with friends or a place for a coffee and cake and a chat. Try not to go at peak lunchtime as very busy. Very relaxed atmosphere, clean and pleasant surroundings. Well worth stopping off at while in Wexford Town for a break.
A. B.
My fiance and I had the best experience in this place. We were walking around and outdoor mall in search of a great place to dine in and stumbled upon this place. Warm greeting from the chef who was also a hostess, server and clerk. They sold their own locally made wine which was phenomenal (we took 2 bottles home), the food was superb I don't think I'll ever eat that great again, we had the whole place to ourselves which was romantic and honestly a charming place in itself. Its attached to its own gift shop where they sold a variety of their own locally made treats (we also bought a variety pack of their chocolates). The customer service was awesome, I can't encourage you enough to go try this place out. You will fall in love just as we did. Thank you for the incredible experience! Great job staff!!!
E. F.
Very nice casual restaurant with friendly staff and a nice atmosphere. My wife tells me they have an amazing selection of gins but I opted for the cake selection - I have never seen a cream filled chocolate croissant before, it was everything my arteries feared. Reasonably priced and excellent food with a large selection of delicatessen items including some unusual and hard to find items - highly recommended
R. D.
Had coffee and cakes with friends. Cakes really weren't anything to write home about. And the service was meh. I think based on our casual appearance my party and I were treated with indifference. Expected a better experience.
R. I.
Excellent food quality and service.
Very hospitable staff and excellent presentation for a variety of tasty dishes.
Strategic location, just a few steps from the Clayton Whites Hotel.
Highly recommend if you are in Wexford.
C. O.
Lovely meal here for a party of 6. Was quiet enough on a Friday evening but the food was perfect. Steak & sides cooked excellently. Prompt service. Nice choice on the drinks menu and for the meal we got the bill was moderate and good value. Nice open athnosphere
m. c.
Waiter an absolute gentleman. Pleasure to deal with. Large group of I think 16 people and no fore warning that they would not split the bill. Disappointing menu. But the food we did order was excellent. Saving grace was the steak, profiteroles and espresso. And again the waiter who was second to none.
P. R.
Family of 4 lunch Thursday 29 June lunch👍We had lunch on wet afternoon went in feeling bit down came out fed watered and well relaxed. Great atmosphere very good staff offered guidance nothing was a problem. All food was tasty and very well prepared excellent burger fab sausage and pasta the kids stir fry must have been good as my 2 year old ate all of it. Tasty tarts and caramel slice lovely coffee and great glass of wine😀😀😀😀
L. T.
Scones were amazing but the coffee was very disappointing, probably straight from a machine. Service was prompt so that's a plus
T. P.
Always a pleasure to visit when in Ireland. Staff and management courteous and helpful. Meals, both lunches and mid morning snacks were well presented and enjoyable. See you next October.
G. K.
Nicest skinny fries I've ever experienced, almost closer to crisps than chips. Lovely sandwich on made soda bread. Lovely staff, decor and atmosphere. Interesting venue with art interspersed throughout.
S. N.
Ate in the restaurant here. Excellent food, one of the best steaks I have had in a long time, good selection of drinks available. The early bird deal is good value for money.
Nice relaxing atmosphere, with very helpful and friendly staff.
I would come here again if I stayed in Wexford another time in the future.
A. S. -. S.
I like cakes which I 've been eating there . They have very good quality and staff of restaurant is very nice and professional. Of course They offer a great pallette of wines as well. I like to take a seat at front of the restaurant and enjoy the weather every time when I get occasion.
D. O. s.
Recently ordered a bottle of whiskey from green acres for the first time. Bottle and box arrived well protected and promptly. Would happily recommend and continue doing business with them.
P. J.
For such an upmarket looking place the atmosphere is surprisingly casual. Inside you are surrounded by art and fine wines. There's a lovely degree of space between the tables giving each one an intimate feel. The staff were lovely and responded to our questions with good humour.
I had the smoked chicken and bree sandwich. This came with a very fresh tasting salad (which unfortunately contained celery, not a personal favourite) and lovely micro skinny chips. The sandwich, while nice and filling had bread that felt like it had been sitting out for some time, as it had that slightly stale texture to it, as if it had been cut an hour or so before. The overall taste was one of pesto which drowned out any hope of tasting either the smoked chicken or the bree, but it was nice all the same. My friend fared better with a goats cheese, honey and walnut salad.
The price for the two more than responsibly sized dishes was under €20, surprisingly low considering the up market surroundings.
All in all, not a five out five, but a definite must revisit.
I.
Excellent food, large portions with a good number of meal options. Service was attentive. I visited the gallery upstairs as well, a wonderful array of mostly local art
P. M.
Great staff.
They made up a lovely basket for me this morning.cheese chutney and Guinness bread cooked fresh this morning.
Very reasonable price.
Oh and a beautiful take out coffee
V. C.
Good food of good quality very well presented. Desserts not to bad but another Level respect The mains, just putted in a plain plait any presentation. Anyway I Will came back.

Nice food but parking is a pain. A little bit pricey compared to other similar restaurants. I still liked the location and the building looks lovely from the outside. The staff are friendly
S. C.
Fantastic meal. The duck and sweet potato starter was delicious, highly recommended. Stake was perfect. Very enjoyable experience
E. M.
Interesting and varied menu with very good value and friendly and helpful staff. Quite busy at weekends and service can be a little on the slow side. Overall though this is a very pleasant dining experience. Advance booking recommended.
G. M.
We really enjoyed the experience of eating at Greenacres. The meal and the ambience & the staff couldn't have been bettered. Richie and Sean were just gems. Will we be back? Just try and stop us! Thanks to all...the Murphy"s
S.
Good food, freshly made but a limited menu (for me personally). Clean bathroom, majority of staff very pleasant and helpful (except one who was terse bordering on rude unfortunately) beautiful foods, bread and cheeses for sale inside and a full bar.
V. O.
Lovely outdoor and indoor restaurant, great wines and gifts can be bought here, also artisan foods. Staff are friendly and nice. Lovely to sit and have a coffee outside.
C. T.

I loved this bistro. Had tea and scones in the afternoon and as well dinner another day. Food is good, not cheap but in line with the location. The art gallery is very nice, unexpected!
K. M.
Excellent service,excellent food.
H. B.
Ok....sat outside to have a glass of coke the other day and could actually smell pee. Had coffee inside another time which was nice....but both times the staff are too busy talking to each other with backs to the Counter to notice you are there when going up to pay. I had to eventually say excuse me I'd like to pay please...to be answered with a quip " No you can't " and "Oh only joking "..I wasn't that impressed to be honest.
A. H.
Always love Green Acres. There is great atmosphere as you walk in and you will be surrounded by all sorts of herbs and spices and home made jams etc. Super range of wines. Delicious meals are served in their restaurant or you can have coffee etc in their outdoor area. Upstairs you can see some amazing art work. Yes I highly recommend Green acres when you next visit Wexford town
I. B. A. J. D.
Greenacres is always good. However the food selection and ambience is certainly gone down as compared to the past. Service is also a little bossy and not too friendly (not the ladies but male )
J. B.
Fantastic restaurant, two adults and two kids throughly enjoyed our meals. Top notch.

Cheers Liam and Mary
T.
Sorry to say I didn't like it , but to be fare it was a very busy spot, maybe it was just me , my main complaint was the veg soup , in my opinion it was too thick , more like baby food puree
S. C.
Travelled from Tullamore to meet a friend for lunch today. She suggested Greenacres and what a good choice. The whole experience was relaxed - choice of menu and price was excellent - staff courteous and helpful and best of all, we did not feel rushed out of the place on finishing lunch.
D. K.

(Translated) A nice welcome, attentive waitresses. Duck breast very good. (Do not forget to specify the pink cooking, see a little bleeding, this can only be better)
Panna Cotta passion relatively good.

Un bel accueil, serveuses attentionnée. Magret de canard très bon. ( n'oubliez pas de précisez la cuisson rosé voir un peu saignante. Cela ne peux être que meilleur)
Panna cotta passion relativement bonne.

(Translated) During our stay on the occasion of the opera festival in Wexford we were there twice after the opera. Everything was perfect on the first visit, the food and service. At the second visit I was disappointed. The steak was perfect again, but without the goose liver butter. After my complaint, the waiter brought a brown pampe, which was not 1 milligram goose liver. While paying, I realized that 1 portion of cheese was left on the bill. This was supplemented. I had the cash for the tip already in the hand, but then quickly 10% service was added (the first time not, I gave the 10% as a tip). Fortunately I checked the bill and put my 20.- € back in. I came across the table with the alleged goose liver butter and the tip. Pity! The first impression was perfect,

Schade! Der 1. Eindruck war perfekt,
