Reviews of Skellig Michael Tours - Skellig Michael Landing Tours and Boat Tours - Casey's Skellig Island Tours

Fantastic tour, all round!
John was a great captain, giving us a fantastic tour from the boat, he took us all around both islands, with lots of info about each one and we saw dolphins and seals.
As part of the landing tour, we got to hang out on one of the oldest, oddest and coolest places in Ireland.
Highly recommend, unmissable experience!
S. O.
Amazing trip to The Skeiligs with our wonderful guide Derek. He had so much knowledge and information to share with us. Would highly recommend
P. S.
Great trip out to the Skelligs. Sea was quite rough but we were given waterproof coats to keep us dry. We'll worth a visit.
N. T.
Brilliant trip. The guide was very informative and hilarious. Great experience despite weather conditions.

Boat trip, not land - I loved this experience so much, my partner too. We joined the boat with an American tourists. We didn't have a sunny day for it but we made it anyway. It was interesting to see the power of the Atlantic Ocean with waves. On the way there we saw a lot of kinds of birds. Also, we were lucky that some dolphins showed up around too. When we got closer to the Skellig we saw seals and on the way puffins. Thank you so much to our guide, you did a great job. And we very much appreciate you took us to see some puffins on the way back to the land.

Truly a one of a kind experience. My wife booked the trip about 6 months in advance. Throughout the reservation process they are very direct that the weather can cause the trip to be cancelled at anytime and we were fortunate to have beautiful weather the day of our trip. Capt Casey provided us with a warm welcome, smooth passage, and informative details along the way.
T. F.
It's an absolute MUST!! We were so lucky to have the best weather on this day. It was the most memorable experience from our trip to Ireland. Book it!!!!
S.
very cool. the tour guide was nice and explained well. It was a very windy day though and it was wavy as hell. I would recommend going on a windy day only if you like an adventure.
M. H.
Fantastic trip today, we loved every single minute of it! The weather was perfect as was the skipper and he managed to take us into several nocks and crannies of the Skelligs. I would not hesitate to recommend, booking was easy and the craic was great....thank you 👍

I recently went on a boat tour to the Scary Islands and it was a thrilling and adventurous experience. The tour was full of excitement and there was a lot of rough sea which added to the adventure. The crew members were all very friendly and made sure we felt safe at all times, even during the intense sea conditions. However, I would not recommend this tour to those who are prone to seasickness as the rough sea might be a bit too much to handle. Overall, it was a memorable experience for those who enjoy a bit of excitement on the open water.

What an absolutely amazing experience! The trip went smoothly and we were blessed with good weather. Our tour guide Chris was very friendly and knowledgeable.

One of the best days out ever. Stunning mysterious islands on the edge of the world. The islands appeared from nowhere out of the fog on the trip out with thousands of gannets covering little skellig. The main island tour was really interesting great to learn about how the.monks scatched a living on this island for centuries. Very spiritual, mystical place. I can understand why Star Wars was filmed here. Its like a bond villains hideout. An amazing experience highly recommended!

Great tour with Skellig Michael Cruises. Within 15 minutes we saw the first dolphins, swimming alongside the boat. Great views on the Skellig Michael Islands. Welworth the costs of the trip. Also great for the kids (4 and 9).
F. C.
Fantastic. Was a very good day weather wise. The climb up the steps is a little scary, not for the faint hearted.
The views unbelievable though.
Well worth the trip.

Plan and prepare before going. This is a wonderful place to see. The challenge of climbing the over 600 steel steps is real, and hard. This place is not for most and has a real chance of you getting hurt. READ the safety information on their web site before going, and take vary seriously. If your up to the challenge, them you should go.

We didn't really have any information before going on this boat trip, so we just went for it because people recommended it.
And we were so surprised and in awe!
On our tour the sea was really nice and quiet, but I can imagine that it's a lot rougher and more wet with different weather, so prepare for that. It was really windy and got pretty cold, so warm and wind-resistent clothing is recommended when taking this trip!
The boat trip itself was a lot of fun and the captain was very nice and told us bits of information about the island here and there.
The islands and the view were wonderful, we were just a bit shook by the price; it's gone up to 50€ per person now, so keep that in mind!
All in all, would definitely recommend!
H. P.
Fantastic experience. This was the highlight of our trip. Great communication from the company beforehand. Make sure you arrive in time to find somewhere to park and remember to take a tablet for sea sickness.
Also, there IS a toilet on the island.
J. J.
Fantastic eco-tour. The guide (I believe his name was Jim) gave us some fantastic information about the rocks and history of the location. We had quite rough seas but he kept us safe, warned us, and found some places to take a break before we headed back. Definitely recommend if you don't have time for or can't get a landing ticket.
T. F.
Great tour, walk on the island is actually easier than it is made out to be. Views are stunning and the boat crew give you great insights into the island
j. m.
These guys were great!! Even let my son drive the boat. Excellent and very Experienced in rough seas! Don’t hesitate to walk upon those beautiful islands!
M. G.
Our Skellig Michael Tour was canceled due to rough seas, sadly, so we did the shorter Harbor tour instead. We had a lovely guide (I forgot her name) who explained the history and geography of the area and gave us some great tips on what to do around Portmagee.
L. S.
I had hoped to land on Skellig Michael but because of government restrictions we weren't able to. Instead took a boat tour around bot Skellig Islands which was very enjoyable. Great views of both islands. We saw plenty of wildlife including dolphins. I would have appreciated a bit more info about the islands themselves, but the 2.5 hour boat ride was great on it's own.
S. B.
Book in advance if you can, but definitely worth visiting! These guyz can give you an amazing experience of the Great Skellig Michael islands 🏝️ , convenient timings to schedule your rides throughout the day ! Magical day in Kerry ☘️

Magical Ireland 🇮🇪
Spiritual
Calming
Beautiful untouched
Vibrant colours
Just a gem 💎 of a place
Look out for the skelligs retreat a place to unwind and restore your soul
Ready in 2024! 💚
D. W. S.
We were there some weeks ago. Everything was organized well. It was such a sunny and calm day.
S. B.
Two great tours out to Skelligs with Caseys! The eco landing tour was excellent, got to see both islands up close and tuns of wildlife including dolphins! John McGill our boat driver was lovely, very accommodating to our toddler. He also had a woman helping him on board (forgot her name) who was lovel, she even gave our boy some biscuits. My husband did the landing tour next day with someone else not John and had a great experience also. Highly recommended Caseys for your Skellig trip!!
C. O.
Great experience. Service and the guide were great. Boat left on time. You get a life vest and a coat to protect you from water.
E. R.
Don't miss this one! With or without landing absolutely worthwhile
F. G.
The tour with Caseys is very well done boatwise along with the human history and present day wildlife of the islands, well worth the trip .
a. k.
Good service, skellig tour well organised, guides were good, Boat 🚢 trips from Portmagee harbour pier by Skellig Michael tours, could do with bigger boats for safer conditions
L. S.
Amazing trip just be prepared to get wet but fabulous 🙂
B. M.
excellent would recommend it to every one loats of facts and plenty of wild life
L. A.
Great experience! We went around Little Skellig and got a great explanation about the birds living there and were lucky to see some dolphins along the way. Skellig Michael is definitely worth a visit, the monastery is impressive and the puffins are all over the island. Definitely worth booking this landing tour!
B. W.
Amazing experience, great pilot and good craic. Can't say I believed everything he said but that's all part of it.
W. V. C.
On our tour of the Ring of Kerry we passed in Portmagee and booked the 3pm short 2,5h boat tour around Little Skellig and Skellig Michael. We had gorgeous weather and were amazed by the raw nature and the abundance of wildlife near and on the islands. The skipper was very friendly and gave a lot of explanation on the islands and its animals. We would definitely recommend this trip!
A.
Lovely tour! Weather didn’t allow any landing tours on the day, so instead we took a tour around the skelligs. Our guide, Nicky, was one of kind, so highly recommend going on his boat. Great experience altogether!
V. N. D.
It was an amazing experience. The guides knew their business and gave us lots of valuable information, where kind when I got sick on boat haha and the place, Skellig, with all the history and nature, is amazing to see. And on 9ur way back the guides where also sure we saw a couple of blue whales that were on the sea. I highly recommend it!
B. W.
Amazing adventure, just stunning views! Boat out and back was handled with skill!
D. Q.
I went on a landing tour yesterday with Casey's Skellig Michael Tours. We were met at the marina in Portmagee by Brendan and Pat. We were given a safety talk and put very much at ease. We left at 08:30am sharp. The boat trip took 50 minutes approximately and Brendan put up a tarpaulin to protect us all from water spray, as well as handing out waterproof clothing.
Brendan was on hand at all times during the crossing to point out places of interest and was very informative also both Pat and Brendan were very helpful to anybody that might feel sea sick during the crossing. On landing at The Great Skellig both Pat & Brendan secured the boat to the landing berth before helping all safely from the boat to the island again at no stage did anyone feel anything other than safe due to both lads experience. The landing tour was spectacular and without doubt a brilliant experience. The island is outstanding in its beauty. On departing again everyone was helped safely onto the boat from the island and we were taken around the Little Skellig to view it. The crew of Casey's Skellig Michael Tours allowed plenty of time for photos and never rushed anybody. We arrived safely back into Portmagee and everyone was taken care of while we disembarked the boat. A Great Day. My thanks to Casey's Skellig Michael Tours and to Pat and Brendan I would 100% recommend Casey's Skellig Michael Landing Tour.
S. M.
Great value, fun ride and very informative thanks Jay!
E. C.
Such an amazing boat ride! Got so lucky with the weather! The sunniest day possible! Such a beautiful boat ride! Worth the trip and more!
P. H.
John, our captain, was informative, well-versed in the geography, geology, and history of the islands. The boat was clean and well-maintained. The tour was incredible. We booked to see Skeling Michael, and loved seeing the gannets nesting on Little Skeling. A perfect day, with an excellent host and captain.
L. S.
Very good boat tour !
M. B.
Great experience. The Islands really have a mystical aura and are even more impressive if you are abird-watcher. Ideally you don't suffer from seasickness though (like me 😏)
D. R.
Well worth a look
J. R.
Nice boat ride even though the seas were a bit high
J. C.
Fantastic experience, helpful and friendly boatman that got us there but when going insist on a lifejacket to wear out, they are on board but not given out for travelling. It's not an obvious dangerous trip but it is the open Atlantic ocean and it's an open small vessel.
k. m.
Tour was amazing, well worth it! The pod of dolphins made for an added bonus!
T. E.
A wonderful experience of seals and gannets. Your need a bit of luck to get a fine day. Small boat so trip out is adventurous. You feel very close to the water. I saw a few birds who flew parallel to the boat. Make sure to take medication to prevent getting sea sick. Also carry a rain coat and a jumper. It gets cold 18km out. Our tour guide was very pleasant and informative. Enjoyed by all. Well worth the 40 bucks.
G. N.
Sound bunch of lads! Decent boats ans the lads have good knowledge of the lore of the islands. Have spaces for bags inside the cabin and wet coats for the splashes of the sea. Would go to again
A. D.
Great tour, magical place!
G. C.
Fantastic Day out in Skellige. Really couldn't have asked for better weather. Worth going up there but it is a fairly tough climb with some areas being quite dangerous. Its not for people who are badly afraid of heights. But most people will get up it
B. S.
This is a wonderful experience! Take your seasickness medicines, fight through the rough and wild Atlantic and you will be rewarded! Paul Devane took good care of us.
E. G.
This was an amazing experience, the pictures speak a thousand words
C. H.
Would love to give this 5 stars as it's truly a magical place! But the price of the landing tour is so extortionate at the moment I think it warranted a 2 star reduction! There is no other country in Europe that would get away with charging €125 for a similar experience, it's a disgrace and infuriating to think of tourists coming here and getting ripped off like this.
S. D.
Not as difficult to climb up or down. We went on a very foggy morning. So, no fear of looking down the cliff.
Z. A.
We booked a few months in advance for our trip to Skellig Michael (Great Skellig/Star Wars Island) and it was set to be the highlight of our European trip. We were very disappointed to hear that the seas would be to rough to go out on the day we booked. We asked to be put on the stand by list for the next day and ended up getting a spot. There was a delay getting going because the sea was still rough the next morning but they got us to the island and we had an amazing time. We could not be any happier with the crew and the experience.
J.
Enjoyed this part of the trip very much. We were lucky to have a good day for the sea. Crew were very pleasant and helpful. A friend of ours who is a master mariner recommended this company to us.
C. H.
Professional, friendly and safety conscious crew, excellent communication from Caseys by phone and email, which helped in booking another trip when our original trip was cancelled due to bad weather. Visiting Skellig Michael was a wonderful experience. Highly recommend Caseys
E. F.
Seemed a bit confusing on the docks, who goes on which boat with which sea captain. BUT our particular captain was a REAL irish sea captain. His dialect so thick, and his character, genuine, we loved it! Skellig Micheal was the HIGHLIGHT of our trip. Highly highly recommend going there. They give us overcoats and pants to keep us warm and dry, which were great. Would do it again.
D. S.
Nicky was the best tour guide and captain ever! 1000% recommended
B. M.
Great boat trip, wealth of knowledge and helpful. Highly recommended.
L. G.
Best experience of our Ireland trip! I'm definitely coming back in july to see the Puffins. I absolutely recommend this trip!
L.
Man running the place is a real hoot. What lovely owners. Great story tellers and so friendly and welcoming. Nothing was too much trouble. Book here, you won't be disappointed.
R. H.
Excellent contact, from booking to departure, with a informative, humorous and obliging skipper. Naturally the tour is a bit weather dependent.
R. M.
a rock slide on the island forced our tour to get canceled. staff were great in communication. would definitely try again
F. L.
Definitely a must see in Ireland
D. M.
Fantastic experience to see both islands. Would have appreciated being warned on the spray on return journey, we were completely soaked
U. M.
Very informative and interesting historical and nature talk.
Be sure to bring waterproof gear. You will get wet on the journey.
A. I.
Highly recommend this boat tour to get close to the islands. Make sure to book months in advance if you want to hike around on the islands.
J. F.
Make sure to book well in advance! Was an amazing trip. Get on and up. You can feel a supernatural presence there.
L. B.
Absolutely awesome boat trip! Loved it! 😁😁
R. L. s.
Very friendly and accommodating lads. Very knoledgable of the site and the area. Hoghly reccomend the tour with Caseys.
A. M.
Wonderful place, it's just mesmerizing. Must visit plac
B. B.
Didn't sink. 5 stars.
L. C.
Great crack .Didn't land but good views 👌of both islands
D. H.
Amazing boat tour of the Skellig Islands. I will definitely come back.
s. g.
didnt do tour but was with someone who really wanted to go, went on the cliff walk close by and came as close for me
B. S.
Great day out. Very friendly staff
A. R.
Good service
J.
If I could give 10 stars ⭐, I would gladly give them. The weather turned out to be 🌞 but it was windy and presto Captain Patrik did a great job of steering the ship on the waves. Likewise the tour guide Marc was amazing and fun👍
Unfortunately, it was not possible to disembark on the island due to the wind. Even so, it was a wonderful trip 🥰
E. P.
We booked the Skellig Michael circumnavigation. There were about 10 guests on the small boat. The crossing was stormy and a lot of fun. However, you should be seaworthy. You get wet in the wrong place. The boat captain explained a lot. We even saw dolphins. An unforgettable experience.
D.
Superb excursion, explanations of everything we saw, it was great.
In addition, we received a call to postpone our ride due to weather conditions, I thought that was cool.
Beware of sick people at sea, the boat is small, and it moves seriously... (At least the day we went there)
R.
An absolute highlight of our Ireland 🇮🇪 vacation! See the Bird Islands up close! Captain 👨✈️ very friendly and explains a lot. You should have a slightly more stable stomach for 40 km in the sea 🌊 👍
M. W.
An exciting boat tour that is definitely worth the money!
You see much more than "just" the "Star Wars" island, the guide's leadership is also great, he was friendly and asked several times if everything was ok.
If you get seasick easily, you should definitely take travel tablets or leave them alone.
The waves can be pretty bad.
We would definitely do it again.
PS: Be sure to apply sunscreen.
M. G.
I went out with Nicky, a great professional.
I'm here for the Archangel Michael line, unfortunately the island was closed by UNESCO due to rockfall, but the tour around the skelligs was intense, the dolphins accompanied us.
And in any case circumnavigating Skellig Michael was the only possibility at the moment... this is the sixth point I've touched on Michele's line.
Thanks Nicky for bringing me, so much gratitude <3
A. D.
simply breathtaking. regardless of the fact that these islands were used for filming (starters and Hardy Potter) there are 3 islands in total. to do especially with the boat captain we had (very nice) there were 10 of us on board not stuck together. to do and bonus the view of the Irish coasts from the sea.
f. S.
The skipper was great. Beautiful stories. And a true sailor. The wave was violent and I admit that I got a bit seasick. But it was worth it.
